Aaron among investors reportedly buying NHL team

A company, which includes Braves Hall of Famer Hank Aaron among others, has reportedly agreed to purchase the NHL’s Florida Panthers for $240 million, Reuters news services is reporting.

Sports Properties Acquisition Corp. has agreed to buy the NHL team; BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla.; an arena management company and some land surrounding the arena, according Reuters, which cited anonymous sources.

Officials with Sports Properties were not immediately available, and the Panthers and the NHL declined to comment.

Sports Properties has previously bid on the Chicago Cubs and has looked at other sports properties.

The group also includes Andrew Murstein, a New York City taxi tycoon; former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo; and Richard Mack, a senior partner at Apollo Real Estate Advisors.
