S.C. State captures three of MEAC’s top postseason honors

MEAC champion South Carolina State captured three of the top five postseason awards as voted by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

Buddy Pough was named coach of the year after leading the Bulldogs to an unbeaten conference record and its first FCS (formerly Division I-AA) playoff berth in 26 years. Running back Will Ford was named Offensive Player of the Year with a MEAC-best 1,499 rushing.

Raymond Harrison was selected as the Offensive Lineman of the Year as the leader of a unit which helped the Bulldogs to gain nearly 5,000 yards in total offense.

Linebacker Jarrell Guyton, the leader of the Morgan State unit which led the FCS in total defense, was named defensive player of the year and Howard’s Willie Carter was named rookie of the year.
