TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Eddie Battle passed for 163 yards and ran for a touchdown Thursday to lead Florida A&M to a 23-0 win over Winston-Salem State.

Florida A&M (4-2) totaled 434 offensive yards, while holding Winston-Salem State to 81.

The Rams (1-5) never crossed the Florida A&M 41-yard line and were shut out for only the second time in coach Kermit Blount’s 16 seasons. The other time came in a 1996 loss to North Carolina Central.

With Florida A&M leading 3-0 after a first-quarter field goal, Battle scored the first touchdown of the game on a one-yard quarterback sneak.

The Rattlers extended the lead to 17-0 with 2:56 left in the second quarter on a 13-yard touchdown pass from Curtis Pulley to Adrian Smith. Pulley completed 11 of 14 passes for 126 yards, while Smith caught 10 passes for 99 yards.

Florida A&M scored the final touchdown when Lonvontae Page scored on a two-yard run with 10:24 left in the fourth quarter. The extra point was blocked.

Winston-Salem State quarterback Jarrett Dunston completed five of 17 passes for 36 yards in the game. Nathan Munford was Winston-Salem State’s top rusher with 18 yards.
