Sivtsov takes biggest race of young career
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Published on: 04/27/08
Kanstantin Sivtsov was such an unknown at the 2008 Tour de Georgia that the spelling of his name was incorrect in the official media guide. That probably won't happen again after the 25-year-old from Belarus won the overall championship Sunday following the final stage in downtown Atlanta.
Sivtsov's win, the biggest of his career, capped a dominant week for California-based Team High Road, which also won three individual stages, including two by Greg Henderson of New Zealand, who won Sunday's stage and Stage 3 (Washington to Gainesville) on Thursday. Sivtov won Saturday's stage from Blairsville to Brasstown Bald.

Juan Jose Haedo (Team CSC) of Argentina was second in Sunday's stage, Andrew Pinfold (Canada) of Symmetrics Cycling was third.
Sunday morning's rain ended an hour before the 1 p.m. start, allowing the course to dry fairly well, but it still had an affect on the race. Debris that washed onto the course may have contributed to more than two dozen flat tires, and one crash that knocked two riders out of the race.
The crowd, perhaps down a bit because of the weather, still numbered in the thousands, raced officials estimated.
