Before his team’s state-duals championship match against Pope, Collins Hill coach Cliff Ramos wasn’t feeling very good. ” I’m worried as ever,” said the longtime Eagles coach. “I’ll let you know in a couple hours.” Ramos is feeling just fine, now. The Eagles completed a dominant weekend, defeating Pope 47-9 to win the school’s second consecutive state championship and third overall.

“It feels good [to] get a second ring,” said John Allgood, a winner by major at 125 pounds.

Collins Hill wrestlers celebrate their 47-9 blowout of Pope to win the AAAAA championship Saturday at the GHSA state high school dual meet wrestling championships in Macon.

Collins Hill added in-state success to an already successful year nationally. The Eagles finished third at the Midwest Wrestling Classic in Kansas City and just outside the top 10 at the ultra-competitive Clash Duals in Minnesota.
