Kym Stamps scored 24 and Janae McKinney 19 for Kendrick, which had five players score in double figures. The Cherokees pressed virtually the whole game. Monroe Area never solved it, turning the ball over 11 times in the first quarter. The Lady Hurricanes had one chance to cut the lead to 12 late in the first half, but Brittany Kirkland missed a layup and Kendrick scored back-to-back baskets, and the Cherokees led 45-29 at the half.
They made it academic with an 8-2 run to open the third period and led 84-51 when coach Sterling Hicks pulled his starters with four minutes left in the game.
Ashleigh Isaacson scored 17 points for Monroe Area.
