Games 3 and 4 of Hawks-Cavs nearly sold out

Looking for Hawks tickets for the weekend? You’re probably out of luck.

Only a few hundred seats remain for Saturday’s Game 3 and Monday’s Game 4 of the Hawks-Cavaliers playoff series at Philips Arena. And those seats are only open as part of a season-ticket package for next season.

Playoff fever has definitely hit Atlanta.

“Boy, the response has been unbelievable,” said Tracy White, the team’s senior vice president for sales and marketing.”From a demand and overall excitement standpoint, I’d have to go back to the 1980s and the days of Dominique [Wilkins], Spud Webb and Moses Malone when there has been this much buzz.”

The Hawks and Cavaliers play the first two games of the best-of-seven series tonight and Thursday in Cleveland. The Hawks would get another home game, Game 6 on May 15, if the series goes that far.

Atlanta had the homecourt advantage in its first-round series against Miami and won three of four at Philips Arena, including the 91-78 clincher Sunday afternoon.

“The first-round games, the atmosphere and energy in the arena was just electric,” White said. “The players and coaches have been talking about how much they fed off the energy of the crowds.”
