PLAYOFF HISTORY
• Hawks: Since the NBA went to a four-round playoff format, the Hawks have made it to the second round nine times. They’ve never advanced to the next round. Two of the series went seven games, one went six games, five went five games and one went four.
• Cavaliers: Cleveland went to the NBA Finals in the 2006-07 season, losing in four games to San Antonio. The Cavaliers are 16-4 over their past four first-round series. They are the only team in the NBA to reach at least the second round in each of the past four seasons.
TEAM RECORDS
• Hawks: They finished 47-35 this season and have increased their win total in each of the past four seasons. After winning 13 games in 2004-05, they have won 26, 30, 37 and 47 in successive seasons.
• Cavaliers: Cleveland was a league-best 66-16 this season. The Cavs became the 12th team in NBA history to win at least 66 games. Nine of the previous 11 teams went on to win the NBA title.
AT HOME
• Hawks: The team went 31-10 this season at Philips Arena, where it averaged 98.7 points a game.
• Cavaliers: The Cavs owned the best home record in the NBA, going 39-2 and averaging 102.3 points.
ON THE ROAD
• Hawks: They went 16-25 away from Philips Arena. They averaged 97.6 points a game on the road.
• Cavaliers: The Cavs tied for the best road record in the Eastern Conference (with Boston and Orlando) at 27-14. They averaged 98.2 points on the road.
LEADING SCORERS
• Hawks: Joe Johnson led them in the regular season and the playoffs. He had a team-high average of 21.4 points a game for the season, which was 16th in the NBA. He averaged 17.1 points in the first round of the playoffs, 28th in the NBA.
• Cavaliers: No surprise, LeBron James led the Cavs in scoring in the regular season at 28.4 points a game, which was second in the league behind Miami’s Dwyane Wade. James averaged a league-best 32.0 points in the first round of the playoffs.
SUPPORTING CAST
• Hawks: Six players averaged double figures in scoring in the regular season. After Johnson, they had Josh Smith (15.6 points, 7.0 rebounds), Mike Bibby (14.9 points, 5.0 assists), Marvin Williams (13.9 points), Flip Murray (12.2 points) and Al Horford (11.5 points, 9.3 rebounds)
• Cavaliers: Four players averaged double figures in scoring in the regular season. After James, they had Mo Williams (17.8 points, 4.1 assists), Zydrunas Ilgauskas (12.9 points, 7.5 rebounds) and Delonte West (11.7 points, 3.5 assists).
SEASON MATCHUP
• Hawks: The Hawks won one of the four games with the Cavs this season, taking a 97-92 decision at Philips Arena on Dec. 13. The Hawks have lost eight of their past 10 regular-season games against Cleveland in Atlanta.
• Cavaliers: The Cavs beat the Hawks in Cleveland on Nov. 22 (110-96) and March 21 (102-96) and in Atlanta on March 1 (88-87). The Cavs have won four straight regular-season games at home against the Hawks.
COACHES
• Hawks: Mike Woodson is 153-257 in five seasons with the Hawks. He is 7-7 in the playoffs, losing and winning a seven-game series in the past two seasons.
• Cavaliers: Mike Brown, the Coach of the Year in the NBA, is 211-117 in four seasons in Cleveland. His playoff record is 30-20.
CONNECTIONS
• Hawks: Mike Woodson played four games for the Cavs in the 1990-91 season and was an assistant from 1999-2001. Assistant coach Tyrone Hill played 303 games in two stints with Cleveland. Shooting consultant Mark Price played nine seasons for the Cavs. Guard Flip Murray played in 28 games for the Cavs in 2005-06.
• Cavaliers: Rookie J.J. Hickson attended Wheeler High School in Marietta. Lorenzen Wright appeared in 226 games in two stints with the Hawks. Wright was part of the Hawks trade to Sacramento that brought Mike Bibby to Atlanta.
