WHAT WENT WRONG

The Hawks were blown out, losing by 23 and 19 points, in losing Games 1 and 2 in Boston.

Rattled: The Hawks, with only two players with any playoff experience, were caught in the glare of the bright playoff lights. Mike Bibby's comments ignited the Boston fans, making the situation worse.

Outplayed: Bibby had just 17 points and two assists in the opening games. His counterpart, Rajon Rondo, had 27 points and 17 assists.

No Smoove: Josh Smith, one who admittedly struggled with the Boston atmosphere, totaled just 19 points, including six in Game 1.

WHEN WENT RIGHT

The Hawks showed a feisty side, including wiping out two double-digit deficits in Game 4.

No place like home: Something to be said for the Philips Arena crowd. They may have been slow to sell out, but they were loud.

Long range: The Hawks won Game 3 with their 3-pointers. After going 0-for-5 in Game 2, they were 10-for-18 in the first home game.

Big play: Josh Smith was a monster in Game 3, scoring 27 points with nine rebounds and six assists. Joe Johnson, with help from Smith, took over Game 4 scoring 35 points (20 in the final quarter).

WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN

The Hawks will have to win one of the road to pull off the miracle upset.

A lotta Mo: The Hawks need to keep the momentum gained, clear security in Boston with their confidence. "We are feeling good about ourselves," Smith said Tuesday.

Run, run, run: The Celtics can't keep up with the Hawks in transition. "We've got to get out and run," Johnson said. "We can't play half-court basketball with this team."

Welcome back: The Hawks should expect a hostile Boston crowd, especially Bibby. He'll have to respond. If he gets going, he will bring the entire team along for the ride. "It's a different atmosphere. We've seen how we have to play in it," Bibby said.
