At least 41 Georgia products in NCAA tournament

Congratulations, Georgia basketball fans. Your state’s college basketball teams may not have come within shouting distance of the NCAA men’s tournament — in fact, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, Kennesaw State, Mercer and Savannah State were a combined 71-132 — but take solace in this: No state without a team (there’s 17 of them) in the dance will have more players than Georgia.

No fewer than 41 players from Atlanta and elsewhere in Georgia are on NCAA tournament rosters, from No. 1 seed Connecticut (Jonathan Mandeldove from Stone Mountain) to No. 16 seed Morehead State (leading scorer Leon Buchanan of Albany is one of seven Georgians on the roster).
