Kenny Anderson, who helped lead Georgia Tech to the 1990 Final Four, is working to complete his undergraduate degree in hopes of becoming an assistant coach, possibly at Georgia Tech.

In an interview today on 790 AM, Anderson said he’ll finish his degree at St. Thomas University in Florida in about a year. Graduating would fulfill a promise he made to his late mother while enabling him to apply for coaching jobs, he said.

The degree also would allow Georgia Tech to retire his jersey, Anderson said.

A heralded point guard out of New York City, Anderson played two years at Tech before a 15-year NBA career. As a freshman, Anderson teamed with Dennis Scott and Brian Oliver to form “Lethal Weapon 3,” the trio that led the Jackets to the Final Four.
