Four Jackets named to All-ACC academic squad

Four Yellow Jackets made the 2008 All-ACC Academic Football team, which was unveiled today.

Senior defensive tackle Darryl Richard, who graduated with honors in three years and then earned his MBA, was named to the team for the second time. Joining him were redshirt freshman A-back Roddy Jones, freshman quarterback Jaybo Shaw and freshman safety Cooper Taylor.

To be eligible for consideration, players must earn a 3.0 GPA for the previous semester and maintain a 3.0 average for their careers.

Maryland put eight players on the team, followed by Clemson with five.

Tech, Florida State and Boston College had four selections apiece.
