Quarterback Josh Nesbitt tested his right hamstring Sunday, and the results were just what Tech had been hoping for.

“I opened it up all the way,” Nesbitt said after practice Monday. “We went through every progression, every thing I’d have to do in a game. We did everything.”

Assuming there are no setbacks, Nesbitt will start Saturday at Clemson, Johnson said.

No. 2 quarterback Jaybo Shaw also is feeling good after missing Saturday’s game with a concussion. He suffered the concussion while running for a touchdown Oct. 4 against Duke.

“It’s nice to have them both available,” Johnson said. “We’ll kind of go by feel. Josh is the starter. They both may play, may not.”

Nesbitt has been out since straining his right hamstring Sept. 20 against Mississippi State.

Injury report

A-back Embry Peeples (ankle) and B-back Quincy Kelly (undisclosed) did not practice Monday. Linebacker Shane Bowen, who got hit in the head in Saturday’s game, also was held out. None has been ruled out for Clemson.

Captains named

The Jackets voted defensive tackle Darryl Richard, defensive end Michael Johnson and left tackle Andrew Gardner permanent captains.
