Bassirou Dieng, a 6-foot-9, 215-pound forward/center, will be Georgia Tech's 10th scholarship player for the upcoming season. He was admitted to graduate school will study international affairs.
Dieng, a native of Dakar, Senegal, played one season at Norfolk State, transferred to St. Francis (Pa.) and sat out a season, then played two seasons before graduating in the spring. The NCAA granted him immediate eligibility because St. Francis did not offer the graduate program Dinge wanted to pursue.

"'Bass' is a young man who contacted us about playing basketball after applying and being accepted into graduate school at Georgia Tech," coach Paul Hewitt said in prepared statement. "Coaches in their league that I have spoken with are very complimentary of his ability as a player and his character. We're happy that he has decided to attend Georgia Tech."
He has one year of eligibility remaining after averaging 10.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and one blocked shot per game last season.
Tech last week lost senior center Ra'Sean Dickey, when he signed a contract to play professionally in Ukraine.
