Georgia well-represented in NFL draft

State high schools produced 13 players selected in league’s April draft

Georgia high schools produced the fifth-most players in this year’s NFL draft, according to a USA Football study.

Texas high schools led the way with 37 players drafted, followed by California (32), Florida (19), Ohio (16) and Georgia (13).

Alabama (12), New Jersey (12), Louisiana (11) and Maryland (10) also had double-digit players drafted. In all, 244 schools from 35 states were represented.

These were the Georgia high school players drafted, followed by their high school, college and pro teams:

DT Corvey Irvin (Laney, UGA, Carolina Panthers)

DB Sherrod Martin (Griffin, Troy, Carolina Panthers)

WR Kenny McKinley (South Cobb, South Carolina, Denver Broncos)

LB Gerald McRath (McEachern, Southern Miss, Tennessee Titans)

DB William Middleton (Marist, Furman, Atlanta Falcons)

DE Kyle Moore (Houston County, Southern Cal, Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
