Falcons rookie Jerry does not practice

Flowery Branch — Defensive tackle Peria Jerry, who suffered a mild right knee sprain on Saturday, did not practice on Sunday.

Jerry missed the afternoon session Saturday to visit a specialist.

“He’s going to be fine,” head coach Mike Smith said. “It’s a mild sprain and the next time we convene, he should be ready to go.”

The Falcons’ first-round draft pick had arthroscopic surgery on the same knee last August to repair a torn meniscus.

Rookies return on May 16 for organized training activities.

Bergeron returns

The Falcons re-signed receiver Troy Bergeron after camp ended. The team had released him just last week.
