Organization slashing $10 off single-game tickets for Sunday’s opener vs. Lions

The Falcons are offering discounted tickets to their season-opener in an effort to sellout the Georgia Dome and avoid a television blackout.

The team sent out an e-mail Tuesday offering $10 off single-game ticket prices to Sunday’s game against Detroit.

As off Monday, the team announced that 2,500 tickets were still available. According to NFL rules, a game must be sold out 72 hours prior to kickoff to be televised locally. The Falcons had two games blacked out last season.

The e-mail read: “With promising rookie Matt Ryan at the helm, Head Coach Mike Smith’s Atlanta Falcons charge into a new era of football this Sunday at the Georgia Dome when they host the Detroit Lions in the season opener.

And we’re giving you $10 off the price of limited single game tickets when you order online between now and midnight Thursday. A limited number of are available starting at just $35. …

A packed house. A shiny new Dome. And a team you can be proud of. All we need now … is YOU!”
