Flowery Branch — Usually minicamp practices are rather tame, but on the last day of the Falcons' three-day camp Wednesday, things got pretty heated.

Offensive lineman Harvey Dahl got into a couple of scraps, even delivering a below-the-belt uppercut.

"I think any time you've got three straight practices and they are the first practices, they are going to be a little chippy," Falcons coach Mike Smith said. "But it was fun to see. They were out there competing and enjoying each other's camaraderie."

Dahl, who played in one game last season after being signed off San Francisco's practice squad, first got into it with linebacker Tony Taylor.

Later, a rumble between Dahl and defensive tackle David Patterson ensued, with Smith jumping in to calm things down.
