• Graduated from Carroll College in 1983 and was a graduate assistant that fall.

• Graduate assistant at Weber College in 1984.

• Returned to Carroll as offensive coordinator in 1985-86.

• Back to Weber State as receivers coach in 1987-88.

• Moved up to Idaho as quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator in 1989-1991.

• Stepping up to the big time, was quarterbacks coach at Arizona State in 1992-93, mentoring Jake Plummer.

•Moved on to be offensive coordinator at Nevada in 1994 (second in nation in total offense), then at Utah State in 1995-97. Set total offense record with 468.5 yards per game in '96.

• First stint at Louisville. As offensive coordinator in 1998, with quarterback Chris Redman, set school records in points scored (444), touchdowns (62), passing yards (4,498) and total yards (6,156).

• First pro experience, with Jacksonville Jaguars as quarter- backs coach in 1999-2000, offensive coordinator in 2001.

• Back to school as Auburn's offensive coordinator in 2002, where Tigers finished 9-4 and led SEC in passing efficiency.

• Hired as head coach at Louisville, from 2003-06. Cardinals won their first Big East Conference title in 2006 and finished with school's highest ranking at No. 6. Beat Wake Forest in Orange Bowl.
