• Worth noting: The Padres have lost 10 of their past 11 home games, posting a 4.45 ERA while hitting .238 in that stretch. They are 5-17 overall since June 15, including 3-5 in July despite a 3.39 ERA. They scored two runs or fewer in five of nine July games. ... The Braves have won 16 of 20 games against the Padres, including a three-game sweep May 6-8 in Atlanta. ... Chipper Jones has a .396 average and six homers in 13 games (48 at-bats) at Petco Park, and Brian McCann has hit .360 with three homers and 11 RBIs in seven games at the park.
• Who's hot: CF Scott Hairston is torrid amid an otherwise chilly lineup. He's 11-for-20 with three doubles, five home runs and eight RBIs in his past six games, with a 1.450 slugging percentage in that stretch since July 4. All other Padres have a combined total of four homers and 16 RBIs for the month of July.
• Tonight's pitching matchup: Reyes is 0-3 with a 4.50 ERA in his past three starts, and the Braves scored no runs while he was in those games. He gave up four runs in 4 1/3 innings Saturday against Houston, after pitching seven innings of one-run ball at Toronto in a 1-0 loss June 29. He has no decisions and a 9.53 ERA in two starts vs. the Padres, including his major league debut July 7, 2007, at San Diego, when he gave up five runs and two homers in three innings. Khalil Greene is 2-for-3 with a homer against him. ... Speaking of poor run support, Peavy is 2-4 in his past seven starts despite a 3.23 ERA. He's 1-3 with a 2.08 ERA in his past six home starts, the Padres scoring one or no runs while he was in five. He's 1-4 with a 4.70 ERA in six starts vs. the Braves, his worst against any team the Alabama native has faced more than twice. He lost his past three against the Braves, with zero run support in two.
