April 15, 2008: Antonio Narainasami loses his balance while descending an escalator at Shea Stadium after a Mets game and plummets two stories to his death as family members watch in horror.

November 25, 2007: A section of stands at a soccer stadium in northeastern Brazil gives way as fans cheered at the end of a game and kills eight people.

August 2006: A 28-year-old pregnant woman dies after collapsing from the heat at Fenway Park. Her baby survives.

May 9, 2001: More than 120 fans die in a stampede at a soccer match in Accra, Ghana at the end of a game between two rival Ghanian teams. When fans start throwing plastic stadium chairs, police fire tear gas causing a panic.

April 11, 2001: 43 stampeding fans die in Johannesburg, South Africa, at Ellis Park stadium at a game between two rival Soweto teams. Initial reports indicate that the stamped began when thousands of fans tried to force their way into the stadium.

April 1999: Francisco Munoz falls more than 90 feet to his death when his pant leg gets caught in an escalator at Yankee Stadium.

October 16, 1996: 83 soccer fans die from either suffocation or being trampled to death in a Guatamala City stadium trying to get into a a World Cup qualifying match.

October 4, 1996: A woman is killed in a freak parachuting accident during a pregame ceremony at a Texas high school football game when the wind catches one of the parachutes and send it and the man attached spinning wildly. The woman was with the

parachuting crew.

1991: 41 people die after a South African soccer game.

1989: 95 fans are crushed to death at the Hillsborough stadium in Britain.

May 16, 1986: Edward Joyce dies after he falls about 40 feet from the upper-deck stands at Comiskey Park into an aisle of the lower deck along the first-base line.

May 1985: Mark Leddy, 21, of Yonkers, falls 100 feet off an escalator at Shea.

1982: More than 300 are killed at a European Cup game in Moscow.

1929: Two fans die in Yankee stadium's right field stands during a Yankees-Boston Red Sox game after being trampled by fans rushing for cover during a sudden rainfall.
