The Braves stayed busy on an off-day Monday, trading for bench player Greg Norton from Seattle.
Norton, 35, a switch-hitting corner infielder/outfielder, went 7-for-16 with two doubles in six games for the Mariners before being designated for assignment April 30. He strikes out plenty, but tends to hit the ball a long way when he connects, a skill that has kept him in the majors for parts of 12 seasons.

"We've been talking with Seattle off and on since the middle of spring training about Greg," Braves general manager Frank Wren said. "We tried to acquire him at the end of spring, but they still had plans for him."
With the Mariners now facing roster decisions with younger players, they agreed to trade Norton, who'll be added to the Braves' 25-man roster.
"He can hit," Wren said of Norton, who has a .253 average with 82 home runs and and 300 RBIs in the majors, including 17 homers for Tampa Bay in a career-best 2006 season. He also has 544 strikeouts in 2,163 at-bats.
Norton, who hit .326 with two homers and nine RBIs in spring training with the Mariners, will provide needed power off the bench. He has 10 homers and a .249 average in 273 pinch-hit at-bats.
The Braves will send a player to be named or cash to Seattle later this year to complete the trade.
The Braves' only homer in 49 pinch-hit at-bats was by second baseman Kelly Johnson, and pinch-hitters Ruben Gotay and Brayan Pena have only 12 homers in 771 total at-bats in the majors.
After hitting .296 with 17 homers and 45 RBIs in 294 at-bats with Tampa Bay in 2006, Norton slipped to .243 with four homers in 202 at-bats for the Rays in an injury-marred 2007 season.
He set most other career-high totals in 1999 with the Chicago White Sox, including games (132), at-bats (436), doubles (26), RBIs (50), walks (69) and strikeouts (93).
Instead, Norton will fill injured Martin Prado's roster spot. The Braves will go with Gotay as their only backup middle infielder temporarily, until veteran Omar Infante joins the team in about one week.
Infante began an injury-rehab assignment Monday at Class AAA Richmond, the final step in his recovery from a broken hand that occurred in winter ball.
Also Monday, the Braves moved relief pitcher Peter Moylan from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL. He will have season-ending "Tommy John" elbow surgery later this week.
