A day after left-hander Tom Glavine went on the disabled list for the first time in his career, the Braves saw signs that lefty Mike Hampton might be back from the DL within the next two weeks.

Recovering from a strained pectoral muscle, Hampton threw without discomfort in a 50-pitch bullpen session Saturday. Unlike his first session Wednesday, when he threw only fastballs, this time he threw all his pitches and with more velocity.

Hampton said he should be ready for game conditions if there's similar progress in one more bullpen session Tuesday.

"Still a little timid, but more intense than last time," he said, estimating he threw at 85-percent effort. "If I can do that next time, make that [progress], I'll be ready for something competitive."

He'll likely need one or two simulated or minor-league games before he's activated.

Hampton was injured warming up before an April 3 game, which would have been his first regular-season start in more than 31 months. He missed the past two seasons recovering from elbow surgeries.
