Braves working to bring Sutton back
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Braves have hired Jim Powell for their radio-broadcast team and are working to bring back Don Sutton to be his new partner.
The organization needed a pair of new announcers following the passing of long-time announcer Skip Caray last August and the retirement of Pete Van Wieren following the season. What are your thoughts as the organization has targeted Sutton, who worked 18 seasons as a Braves television broadcaster and is currently under contract with the Washington Nationals, to team with Powell next season?

A return for Andruw?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Dodgers released former Braves outfielder Andruw Jones Thursday, making him a free agent.
Jones was injured part of last season and was mostly ineffective otherwise, hitting only .158 with three home runs in 75 games with L.A.
Do you think the Braves should bring him back to Atlanta?
Or would you rather see the Braves play youngsters in left and center, or trade for, or sign, someone else instead of Jones?

Falcons Fusspot: Ryan vs. Flacco - Who’s the best NFL rookie QB?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Which NFL rookie quarterback rules the pool — our own NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, Atlanta’s Matt Ryan, or the Baltimore Ravens’ Joe Flacco, whose team takes the field Sunday against Pittsburgh for the AFC title and a shot at the Super Bowl?
Fusspot Fun Fact: Both guys have lame nicknames each team can use while dissing the other’s guy - “Matty Ice” (good luck, Team Ryan) and “Joe Cool” (what’s up with that, Team Flacco?).
Stir The Pot: You’ve fussed about it in the Falcons Vent. Now let’s stoke the fire and stir the Falcons Fusspot on the Best NFL Rookie QB question. And be sure to throw down for YOUR team — say if you’re Team Ryan or Team Flacco.
Team Ryan… Team Flacco… DOWN! SET! FUSS!

UGA’s Reshad Jones may enter NFL draft
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Georgia safety Reshad Jones is considering following three teammates - quarterback Matthew Stafford, tailback Knowshon Moreno and cornerback Asher Allen - into the NFL draft, but says he remains undecided. The clock is ticking, because this is the last day the NFL allows eligible underclassmen - those three years removed from high school — to enter the 2009 draft.
As a redshirt sophomore this past season, Jones led the Bulldogs with five interceptions. He was second on the team in tackles with 76. He was named second-team all-SEC by the Associated Press.
Tell us: What do you think of Jones’ NFL chances? And how would his departure affect UGA in 2009?

Braves, Lowe agree to $60M deal
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Atlanta Braves agreed to terms with veteran pitcher Derek Lowe, 35, on a four-year, $60 million contract, a person familiar with negotiations said Jan. 13. In 2008 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Lowe was 14-11 with a 3.24 ERA in 211 innings, including 6-1 with a 1.27 ERA in his last 10 starts.
What’s YOUR opinion on the Derek Lowe deal? Do you see him as the Braves’ next ace in the starting rotation or are you worried that, at age 35, his best years are likely behind him?

Tebow returning to lead Gators
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Florida quarterback Tim Tebow says he is returning for his senior season.
The Gators won the national title Thursday night. Does Tebow’s return make them a heavy favorite to repeat as champs? Can anybody beat Florida next season?
How do UGA fans feel about the news? The Bulldogs have lost their starting QB, Matthew Stafford, to the NFL and now find out their big rival will be keeping its former Heisman winner.
What’s the reaction from Florida and Georgia fans?
