God bless Georgia Tech. I “like” Tech…when I was a Kid, my dad took me to games…what a tradition…people dressing up in the West stands…Coach Dodd in a suit…Wade Mitchell, Billy Lothridge, the Magnificent Seven, and Bill Curry and George Morris. BUT now I’m a UGA fan…Uncle Jack was Wally Butts’ manager. GT fans have become Techmites…no excuse for carrying on after win over UGA. Sorry, sorry, sorry. Paul Johnson and his program are winners. No sense in becoming Clemson and Auburn rednecks.

Tech has got to develop a pssing attach. If not with Nesbitt, then maybe Shaw or the freshman we have coming in. We must input the run and shoot. This offense worked against most teams, but LSU gave is a real gut check. In addition, Tech needs a kicker and it ain’t Scott Blair. His kick offs are too short and he has very limited field goal range. Special teams were horrible, just like last year. Tech needs to rebuild the offensive line. The same can be said for the defensive line as 4 seniors will be gone. Next year we have to beat Georgia again; this time in front of the home folks.

To Mr. Lack of Common Sense, if we are so bad, why are you posting here?
However, the definitive statement, “BUT now I’m a UGA fan.” Everybody in the South knows that the most obnoxious fans hail from FC Athens. I would rather become than become a bunch myopian hush puppies.
You people never cease to amaze me.

I see a great opportunity for Tickle Piles next fall. However prospects don’t seem good for basketball season.

Please recruit a punter and kicker. Scott Blair is a joke.

I know Scott Blair is not the greatest kicker in the world, but let’s remember the touchdown saving tackles he made this year, one against Clemson and one against FSU. We were praising him after those tackles that saved games for us.

Schedule looks about as tough as it did this year. I like having vt and clemson at home. Vandy and Miss state want be easy road games. Uga home nice too. FSU will be tougher next year, Miami got some issues dont know about them. LSU game don’t mean nothing to me. I would have liked to have one it, but it don’t change how good our team is. We badly need to work on special teams, and be more consistent on what little passing we have to do. We will have more depth at o-line next year giving more rest & competition for best man for the job. Deeper backfield will help too. Our defensive backs have to get much better fast without the d-line we had. Those d-backs were highly recruited they just have to learn to cover better. We should be better next year. Can’t wait. Dawg fans admit it, the only reason you are posting on here is cause you are a poor loser. I love it.

You losers blaming steroids for your loss to LSU? Are you kidding me? What really happened is that LSU exposed your win over UGA as one of the three biggest upsets of 2008. Congrats for that, Coach Johnson is a great coach and a fine man. But act like you’ve “been there” (which of course you haven’t having lost an overwhelming majority of your matchups with UGA since 1964 when Dooley arrived). Show some class. You guys have a great chance of winning an ACC title sometime over the next few years along with UNC, Va Tech, Wake, NC State and Boston College. The rest of the ACC including Miami is a joke (until UM replaces Shannon). FSU will not win another ACC under Bowden.

“Three biggest upsets” LMAO…for it to be an upset, the losing team has to actually be considered to be good! Ugag has been exposed as the most overrated preseason #1 in quite some time.

I love idiots. You Dog fans talk about being Tech being exposed….UGA was one of the biggest jokes of the year and if anyone was exposed it came with a 45-42 win in Athens while completing 1 pass and running down your throat for 400+. UGA is the picture of OVERACHIEVMENT. Secondly, to the guy quoting 1964 stats….give me a break, you couldn’t win an SEC Championship til Tech left the freakin’ conference.
Yes, Tech got the doors blown off NYE, but when you give the ball up 5 times on your side of the field it happens and it should happen. Anyone who’s ever strapped on a helmet knows that….but the only helmet you’ve probably worn was a soft one you wore to HS
Tech’s got 17 starters coming back and UGA is losin’ it’s prized possessions…Ryan Leaf Jr and Knowshow (nice job agains MSU by the way…and they’re terrible)
UGA better get used to gettin’ drug by the Jackets cause it’s gonna happen just like it started to before our last hardnosed coach left with a fake resume.

I like our chances next year to contend for the ACC crown. Our O-line needs to have a lot more depth and get better at the same time. I’m eager to see how the new arrivals and redshirted Freshmen contribute to next years team. I think the transfer from Louisville, that Allen guy will be a good suprise for us next year in the backfield.
I like having VT & NC at home for 2009. We need to knock both of those teams off and stay in control of the Coastal. FSU & Vandy will be tough road games. In 2009 our fans need to FILL THE STANDS for HOME GAMES. I hated seeing all those FSU fans at our home game.
To all the LSU fans reading and posting on this blog. Congrats on your win, your team was ready to play and it showed. Whenever our teams sqaure off it again in the future it won’t be easy for ya’ll.

We can all bet that Johnson knows he needs a passing game, but not a big one. Nesbitt, based on one season, doesn’t seem to be the answer. (His three-quarter motion is fine for a major league reliever, but it won’t do in big time football.) The astonishing thing is that the stats were comparable for LSU and Tech, which goes to show how statistics can lie. But what LSU did that nobody else did was keep its 8-man front intact, the outside linebackers at home, and force Tech to run inside.End of story. (Anybody notice that only Nesbitt and Dwyer had carries? Their “A” backs got nary a single one, they never got to the edge) So unless Tech can throw successfully next year — defined as 8-10 completions out of 15 attempts or so) — it will be a long season.
I kind of think Johnson will make it work.

Not too shabby. Three SEC opponents should be challenging. We're also going to play against *the best* teams in the ACC. It'll either be a great season or a mediocre season. Good luck, CPJ.By Tech Forever

Some Sense - Please…a Georgia fan calling out Tech fans for their behavior is laughable. If you took a poll (and I’m going to do this one day) of all the SEC schools fans to list the top two worst behaved fanbases I guarantee you UGA would come out on top.
Bill - Please….do not insult LSU and embarass Tech by blaming the loss on steroids….or refs….or antyhing other than LSU showing up and Tech not.
Chuck_UGA - By “axcting like we’ve been there before” do you mean obnoxiously screaming and cursing at opposing fans with little kids, picking fights while p** drunk, spitting beer in peoples faces, screaming and “woofing” while nose to nose with opposing fans, or being one of the “good fans” and watching all of the above only to turn and pretend you didn’t see anything instead of stepping in? These are the “acts” UGA fans use to show they’ve been there before.
THWG_GoJackets - UGA historical UNDERACHIEVES…not overachieves. With all the top talent going there of course and them (famously from another message board) “getting whoever they want” in recruiting, UGA should have 3 or 4 NCs under Richt. Also, Tech has 19 of 22 starters coming back not 17. Word-Daniels missed the last 6 games and Gardner the last 4 giving their replacements more than enough exposure to be deemed as “returning starters” for next year.
LSU Fans - Great game for you guys. Congrats on the win!!!
Georgia Fans - You can try and start another 7 year streak next season. As for now if LSU somehow makes you feel better about losing to Tech and negates the loss in your mind I encourage you to continue that reasoning. To each his owne with how they cope. But by that same logic you’re now admitting you think Utah would THOROUGHLY etch their initials into your backside after the beat down they put on the team that punked you bigtime in your own backyard. But you know I choose to agree with you all, Georgia is in fact the greatest team of all time!!! Simply the best ever and can beat anyone anytime anywhere…except Florida…but I digress…Georgia Rules and gets all of my allegiance in every game other than when they play Tech who I will never ever believe can or will beat the mighty Bulldogs. Go Dogs!!!!! Screw Florida vs Oklahoma!!! Georgia is the real Champions and evryone knows it!

Come on Sharecropper…..Nesbitt will be fine. He was recruited to throw the ball under Gailey and he was an All State Passing QB. He’s had less than a year and not even a full season’s worth of starts. Jaybo isn’t nor will he be the answer….he can’t throw it downfield more than 45 yds….Duke made him out to be more than he is. The reason Jaybo looks better is due to years of reading defenses (HS…peewee…etc)
Nesbitt is and will continue to be the best QB on the team (unless someone can come in from HS and absolutely WOW CPJ). You give him another offseason and ongoing to learn the offense and read the field better and my point will be proven.
As for the Dawg Fans….Us Techies apologize. It sucks to be on the losin’ end especially when you were crowned Champs so early. You mock Tech for losin to what you call an “inferior” LSU Team but you were ready to “right the ship” when you beat them 2 months ago. You can’t have it both ways.
What you can have is a 45-42 loss on your turf. That’s all we can offer.
Unless you want to have a UGA / Tech meeting somewhere near Lawrenceville and have a bonfire of those ridiculous Black and Navy jerseys….they should be burnt/retired/whathaveu
And to all of the guys quoting sterroids….give me a break…..what they had was a great defense(that won the Nat’l Championship a year ago) and a month to prepare with the Nat’l Coach of the year in 07
I’m outta here….UGA fans are makin’ it stink in here

GT DIDN’T show up against LSU and I don’t know why other than lack of depth. However, I like our chances with CPJ in 2009 and the little dawgies need to be scared. The streak will continue in our little high school stadium with our little high school offense!

I agree with many of the comments made, but boy how soon people jump off the band wangon and become negative…
Josh will be fine. He has been mostly a “running” QB most of his HS career. He has progressed nicely. But when you put a person in a situation that utilizes his weaknesses instead of his strenghts…it will happen to all of us. I would bet that if you looked at his passing stats in “non-passing” situations, you would find he was ok. I bet if Bay Bay would have caught the ball in the endzone the first time we had the ball….who knows.
Their was a course of events that put the entire team in a “pressing” situation. I think that snow-balled on Josh. Plus next year Jaybo will push Josh much harder. You will see both of them expand their abilities.
Our offensive line is the same. Had several key injuries and young talented, but inexperienced guys playing hard. They looked like “dawg” killers one game, and flat another. Yet I saw overall improvement.
I am not sure what team “Jacketnation” watched last year, but our Special Teams was one of the tops in the nation. Punting was #1, had an all-acc FG kicker, and Kickoff coverage went from 119 to #2 in the country. Like Josh and the O-line, Blair was new to most of it this year. I think he pressed some. However, he lead the acc in punting after the 6th game of the season. After a 1-5 start on FG’s he was 11-14 on his last 14 attempts, and finished with the #3 gross and #4 net kickoff average distance in the acc. He will be fine with a season under his belt.
Defense had same issues as all the above. Simply young and inexperienced, expect the d-line (although they had some rough games as well…uva and lsu)
Next year we will have JRs and Sophs with some Fresh instead of Sophs and Fresh like this year. Plus we will have some depth in key areas that we lacked this year. And most important, we will have one more year under CPJ system. Watch out. I cannot wait.

Paul Johnson has to man up and take responsibility for this loss. The team was not focused at all………and a coach has to keep his team focused. With that said, Coach Johnson can and will learn from this. I have had Tech season tickets for 7 years, and this has been the most exciting year. I look forward to next year………..GO JACKETS!
