An 11-5 season (so far). A trip to the playoffs. And now, the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award. To say it’s been a dream season for rookie Falcons QB Matt Ryan would be a grand understatement.

When did you start to believe in the Falcons?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Expectations, to put it mildly, were slim, heading into the Falcons first year under head coach Mike Smith.
But it quickly became evident that the Falcons weren’t nearly as bad as everyone predicted.
But the playoffs? It took a while before the postseason appeared anything more than a pipedream.
So when did you start to believe the Falcons were more than just pleasant surprises?
Did you jump onboard the bandwagon after the win in Green Bay? Or was it the dramatic comeback against Chicago that provided the proof you needed to start believing?
Here’s when the players say they really began to believe.
Now, you tell us when you started to believe.

Furcal reportedly rejoining Braves
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
FOXSports.com is reporting that former Braves shortstop Rafael Furcal is on the verge of returning to the team as early as today.
Furcal played six years with the Braves, winning the 2000 National League Rookie of the Year award, before signing a free-agent contract with the Dodgers. If Furcal returns, what will the Braves do with Yunel Escobar, a budding superstar currently playing shortstop?
Let us know what you think about Furcal’s possible return to Atlanta and how it might impact Escobar’s future.

What’s your take on the Georgia Force?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
What’s your reaction to the cancellation of the 2009 Arena League season?
The Georgia Force has used both Philips Arena and Gwinnett Arena for its home games since moving to metro Atlanta from Nashville in 2002. Falcons owner Arthur Blank bought the team in 2004.

As Falcons fly high, QB controversy looms for Vikings
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Remember when the quarterback controversies were all Atlanta’s, all the time?
As in: Will Atlanta find one who can lead the Falcons to a winning record?
Now that Matt Ryan has put that question to rest this season for the Birds, another team has taken up the “Who’s The Man?” slack — the Minnesota Vikings, aka this week’s opponent.
Seems the Vikes are torn between sending third-year QB Tarvaris Jackson out for what would be only his fourth start of the season or trotting out veteran Gus Frerotte, who recently suffered a broken bone in his lower back, if Frerotte’s healthy.
“It’s a luxury to have two guys,” Vikings coach Brad Childress told reporters after Minnesota’s win over Arizona on Sunday.
Really?
What’s your opinion on that? Who’s got the advantage going into Sunday’s game — the Falcons or the Vikings — when it comes to the QB situation? Do the Vikings truly have a dual threat in a Jackson-Frerotte tandem or is Atlanta set to roll under the single-QB system with Ryan?

What now for spurned Braves?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The Braves made an almost identical offer to pitcher A.J. Burnett as the Yankees, but he signed with New York, meaning Atlanta missed out on its top free-agent target.
Now what?
Should they have thrown more money at Burnett? Should they go back to the Padres and restart talks for Jake Peavy?
What’s your take?

Your best Maddux memories?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Former Braves pitcher Greg Maddux announced his retirement Monday.
The righty, a four-time Cy Young winner, achieved his greatest success while pitching in Atlanta.
What are you best Maddux memories? His pinpoint control? His sly smile? His playfulness with teammates? How about his colorful language on the mound when letting out a burst of frustration?
Was he the best of the big three — Maddux, Joh Smoltz, Tom Glavine — or not the best?

Hampton signs with Astros
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
After six injury-filled seasons with the Braves, lefthanded pitcher Mike Hampton is leaving the organization to sign with the Houston Astros.
The AJC’s David O’Brien reports that Hampton accepted less money than the Braves were offering to sign with the Astros. O’Brien also reported that Hampton is going through a divorce and wanted to be closer to his children in Arizona.
As a Braves fan, are you sympathetic with Hampton’s plight and thus understand his decision to leave the Braves, or would you have rather have him around in ‘09 now that he’s finally healthy? In an informal poll since the story broke Monday evening, more than 65 percent of the 3,500 respondents said it was time for Hampton to move on.
Let us know what you think.
