Auburn fires offensive coordinator

Auburn’s sluggish start cost offensive coordinator Tony Franklin his job. Franklin was dismissed Wednesday, just six games into his first year at Auburn.

Franklin was hired from Troy to bring the spread offense to Auburn. But the Tigers have struggled to find any consistency and rank near the bottom of most offensive categories in the SEC.

The first sign of trouble was the Tigers’ 3-2 win over Mississippi State. Their struggles continued in last week’s loss at Vanderbilt.

What does this mean for Auburn?

Was Franklin given enough time to install his offense?

Are SEC defenses too fast, too athletic for his form of the spread offense?

How far will this set Auburn back in terms of recruiting?

Does War Eagle prefer to return to Auburn’s more traditional power-running attack?
