Is the only place to see/hear the game on ESPN360? Is this game not even on internet radio? I checked 790 and 680, both are playing sports talk shows…Unfortunately Comcast doesn’t support ESPN360.

I can watch if I could stand the brief pauses every 10 seconds. Last year espn360 worked great for me and I was on a 5 year old laptop (POS). Now I have a new computer and it cuts out every 10 seconds with the same internet connection. And they want me to pay to listen to the game? Thats absurd! Looks like I’ll just miss the season.

WOW!!! Thanks for the head up here! I fooled around with 790thezone.com for 20 min and got nothing but the lame call in show earlier today. But AT&T supports this espn360 and it’s FREAKIN AWESOME!!!!
Anyone having freeze up problems, try this:
Close all other open windows.
Size: Shrink down to “compact”
Time-shift (like Tivo) a couple of minutes back and it’s nearly a seamless show without the “live” buffering every couple of seconds. It still isn’t perfect…But it’s much more watchable than real-time.
In fact, you can back up and watch the entire game from the beginning. I had no idea!! Thanks again for the heads-up!!!
A 68-yd scoring drive in 4 plays…Are you kidding me?????

I get ESPN360, it is slower than just plain slow, unwatchable. I turned it off, tghen came here to see that Tech has scored 21 points, none of which were viewable ala ESPN360

I have it on AT&T, and I can confirm it’s a complete joke, a new low for Tech. The whole point of playing on Thursday is to get on television, and now we’re reduced to watching stumbling video on a computer, or rather random still shots taken from video. This should have been a radio-only game. Just as a final indignity, the game choice on the site lists this game as “Jacksonville State vs. Georgia.” This is “national exposure” of the worst kind.

I wouldn’t know, since Comcast is too freaking cheap to carry ESPN360. You would think that with all of the money they save by capping their customers’ internet usage that they could afford to toss us this tiny little bone, but no - I guess, as always, Comcast puts it’s customers last on the list. Very sad, but when you are a monopoly (i.e. customers can’t choose their cable provider) you can get away with being slack.

No dice in western North Carolina… Charter doesn’t carry ESPN360. It must be preseason for all the other ‘net feeds. Gametracker never got past the “Pre-Game” screen (at least not through 2Q), YahooSports (GameChannel) locks up for long periods of time. I didn’t have the nerve to pay for the audio feed with these problems. Maybe they’ll get it figured out for week 2.

I figured Tech’s flagship (790) would have the game one but of course they wouldn’t (that station could care less about Tech…they are more of a station for that team in Athens). I watched it - I have Bellsouth DSL - and it was awful - I don’t think I will be watching another one. It constantly froze, like it was trying to catch-up with the streeming. In fact, it has gotten so far behind that in real-time (also listening to the game on channel 190 on XM) there is now only 7:45 left in the game (4th quarter). However, on ESPN360 (which is “supposed” to be live) they are still in the 3rd quarter with 10:38 seconds left (in the 3rd) - a whole quarter difference and then some. So - it is not very good.

What I want to know is why 790 wasn’t broadcasting the game?? Has college football come to the point where it is only about the money? Screw the fans, it’s all about the money. Has the deal with XM or ESPN360 (which really sucked tonight - an hour behind) that local, free airwaves are not “good enough” anymore? So sad. Qwest out here in Colorado does not carry 360 either. It looks like only AT&T and Verizon do, and they do not offer service where I live at. I looked on the 790thezone website and there was a link that said the Tech game was on the air, but I only heard a freakin’ call in show. I emailed them asking what was going on.
Gametracker sucked. It waited until almost halfway through the second quarter to finally update anything.
Guess I will be stuck looking for updates if 790 is not going to carry the games. I thought 790 was Tech’s flagship station ???
I guess if you have XM (I have Sirius) you could have heard the game. Maybe when they merge……

I emailed a guy at ESPN and he said that the servers used for ESPN360 were overloaded. They had more users watching tonight than they ever have. This is mostly due to the fact that they tried to run the GT game, the Miami Game, and the USC NCState game at basically the same time. The fan bases just killed their servers. I am pretty sure the GT-Boston College game will be on through Raycomm’s local affiliates, so hopefully we won’t have to put up with ESPN’s crappy service anymore. I remember UGA started out the year last year on ESPN 360 and it worked fine…. although most of those folks don’t have teeth, let alone a computer.

ESPN needs to shut this thing down immediately. Maybe in 2-3 years they can work it out but I’ll never try to tune in again until I hear from at least a couple of good friends that they saw what they expected and were pleased. My ISP carries it but I don’t think it makes any difference if they do or do not. My good fried watched for a few minutes and said the reception was junk. He shut down and turned on the radio and he is in Atlanta. ESPN really has a donkey here.

On any given Saturday you can turn on the radio and find at least three AM and two FM stations broadcasting UGA games, but you can’t even get Tech games on a radio except for 790’s piece-o-crap signal. My ESPN180 (that’s right…I said 180!) connection was horrible. Wes’ radio broadcast was on the third or fourth offensive possession before the vide feed (sic!) even started.
In the 2nd half, one of Nesbitt’s passes remained frozen on the screen for almost three minutes. I had to go to the Gamecast coverage to realize it was finally completed.
That’s the first/last time I watch a game that way.

The game will be rebroadcast on Tuesday, 9/2 at 3pm on CSS (Comcast Sports South) channel 45 on my comcast setup.
The ESPN360 was a joke and was totally unwatchable. 790thezone.com was not carrying the game, but the over air broadcast of the radio station did carry it, but that went to the weaker signal around 8:30, so we couldn’t hear it any more.

I think it would be quicker to wait for the entire game to show up on Youtube.
I came in late and followed their advice of pausing the feed for a while to let it build up buffer time. About 15 minutes of waiting gave me about a solid minute of buffer time where it didn’t cut out.
Then I had the bright idea to refresh the espn360.com website to see if that would help…Don’t do that. Since the game had finished, I lost all chance to watch it..until they deem the game important enough to show in the replay section.
At least I only spent about an hour watching the first 10 minutes.

Very dissapointed in ESPN. All week I’ve been working on hooking my computer up to the t.v. and making sure 360 worked well. I’ve watched MLB and UEFA games all week with no problem, crystal clear. Tonight, however, I felt like I was using a dial-up 56k modem to get the feed. Worked on it the entire first half, and finally got it to streem correctly in the 3rd quarter. It had to be a bandwith problem… ESPN didn’t have enough servers to support a large number of metro-atlantans logging in to watch all at once.
Can’t be too happy about the excellent performance from our boys though! Its going to be a hell of a season.

Listened to game on ISP Sports radio network on South 107 (FM 107.1) from Rome, GA. You can pick up in Atlanta as well. Watched on computer with AT&T (Bellsouth.net)but the problems with freezing up were as mentioned by others. Hope I never have to try to watch another on ESPN360. My head was spinning with the live radio broadcast anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes ahead of the video streaming (well more like video spastic). It was a good win for the first shot of a new system. How many times in the past did we struggle with a lesser opponent. The future looks good and we will just have to expect and accept some ups and downs. It’s sure good to see some excitement and expectations on the sidelines. Go Jackets!!

I waited all summer for this night and what did I get? A major headache trying to figure out what was happening in the game. With 790 powering down at 8:30, the disaster of ESPN 360, the long pauses in gametracker and no way to get coverage of the game, I am totally at a loss to figure out why the Tech people treat us loyal fans like dirt. Why the great big build up for the new team if we can’t even listen to the game?

I just emailed ESPN and asked them to PLEASE put the GT- Boston College game on one of their “Regular” outlets (ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, even ESPNU or ESPN Classic) instead of ESPN 360, and I referred them to this website so they could see how disgruntled we all were.
I also emailed 790 and asked what happened to the internet roadcast of the game.
Please take a few minutes and do the same. Perhaps if we flood them with requests, they won’t put us on ESPN360 for a while.

I am staying in a hotel in Houston. Fortunately, they have ATT internet (it has o be the DSL service, not the cell service). I was also lucky that the hotel has both wired and wireless in the room. The wireless is too slow to carry the signal. The wired connection was 10M, but obviously the actual throughput for the internet was significantly less. All this being said, the signal had constant start/stops and poor resolution. You will need a very high speed connection to an ISP that is a subscriber to ESPN360 before you can really enjoy this experience.

I understand why out of state fans couldn’t GO TO THE GAME but if you live near Atl then I don’t give a rip about how good (or bad) the ESPN360 feed was. I work nights and live 60 miles away but you couldn’t have given me anything in this world to miss this game. Except maybe one more year of Calvin. The stadium looked 3/4 full so I’m sure if you would have wanted tickets you could have gotten some. Pay the money and shut the hell up. And I’m not even an alumni. Atleast the scum UGAg fans stand behind their BS in grass cutting degree football team. And no I won’t sit down during the game so suck a lemon you old hags. Ok, I feel a little better but come on people, BRING YOUR A*******E$ down to Bobby Dodd Stadium!

Now I understand why ESPN is afraid to charge customers directly for the ESPN360 feed, instead trying to get ISPs to fork over the money. I would have been p*ssed if I had paid 10 bucks for this crappy feed from overloaded servers.
I was more disappointed, though, with 790 not carrying the radio broadcast over the internet. Living in Gainesville, FL, I have been listening to the radio broadcasts over the internet for years for games not shown on TV. Listening to the Tech announcers was one of the driving factors in getting me (and my family) up to several Tech games each of the last 3 years (We’ll be there for Miss St, UVa, & FSU this year). I am assuming this was a contract thing with ISP sports and not 790’s decision. Radakovich needs to hear from Tech fans everywhere that this is a bad business decision.

Comcast does not carry this service, and for two years, they have told me they are “negotiating” withe ESPN. Good thing Comcast isn’t running the State Department or we might still negotiating the end of World War II. A friend told me that AT&T hss ESPN 360 and it works well on their service. I tried to watch it on ESPN360. Their services was TERRIBLE!!!! There were more freezes than action. When the game was really at halftime, I was still just starting the 2nd Quarter. If this is the best ESPN360 can do, it won’t last long and is a complete waste of time. They can’t say that it was the connection or service provider. I watched 4 or 5 games during the NCAA Men’s tournament this past year over my computer and had no problems. ESPN360 either needs to do it right, or give it up! Not worth your time!!!!

AT&T has ESPN 360, Levins and crew did a nice job, but the picture was stop and go. Roddy Jones’ 49 yard run was split into three sections with two rather dramatic pauses waiting to see if he made it. What’s the deal with 790 the un-zone, I though they were the flagship station, and after the pre-game show swithcing to talk radio. Tech can do much better for a flagship station. Hopefully, Rad fixes this issue quickly.

I like many others was really disappointed that 790 the Zone was not broadcasting the game. The ONLY time I ever go to their site is to stream a Tech football or basketball game. It was even more frustrating to see their front page say “On Air: GT vs. JSU”, but when you clicked on that icon you got some lame call in show. Was this a 790 decision or is GT preventing them from streaming their broadcast in order to sell the broadcast stream through ramblingwreck.com? If Tech prevented it, then that was a bone headed move as I would NEVER pay for a live audio broadcast.
Also, for those of you ticked at your ISP, the one you should really be mad at is ESPN. ESPN is trying to force the bundled service model onto ISPs across the country. ESPN could have chosen to allow anyone on any ISP to have access to their site, and charge a membership fee. However, what they decided to do was try to use the power of the ESPN name to leverage ISPs into upping everyone’s internet bill for their crappy service. Of course I don’t blame ESPN for trying since their product is crap and nobody would pay for the poor service it provides. I at one point was mad at my ISP for not carrying ESPN360 until I found out was ESPN was doing. Now I’m ticked at ESPN, when I would have been happy to pay it for access to their product in the first place.

I have AT&T, and yeah the only problem was the freezing. I saw a previous poster who said who started the replay from further back instead of live and it reduced the problems. If I ever have to do this again, I’ll try that. I tested my connection earlier in the day with some crappy british soccer game or something and there was no freezing up. But I suspected that with all the games available that ESPN360 would not be able to handle the traffic.

I watched the game if you could call it that on my laptop computer from my hotel room using a high speed wireless connection. The resolution was poor and the picture froze every 3 seconds. It would freeze from 3 - 30 seconds. Very difficult to watch.
I found if you would let it run and than pull the slide bar back in time it would than play the now time delayed plays OK. Resolution was poor.
It maybe better if you use a wired connection instead of wireless.

Did anyone check the upcoming events for 360?
The next two Saturday games (Tech/BC and Tech/VT) are listed. I sure hope this is not a recurring theme since I would actually like to watch a game this year. Being in Colorado I don’t get too many live broadcasts of Tech games, but limiting the viewing to those who only have 360 available is wrong.
Have sent my emails/complaints so we will see what happens. Anyway, getting ready for Air Force’s first game tomorrow. Should be interesting this year since they lost a lot of starters graduated.

The reason that 790 did not have the game online is that their contract commitments with either ISP Sports or the ACC won’t allow them to have carry it - it has nothing to do with GT or 790. I ended getting 2 from a scalper for a total of $25! on the 15 yard line to boot! People GO TO THE GAMES. It is embarrassing all the empty seats, we are an ACC team, not some DII school.

I wanted to attempt to provide some information concerning ESPN360 and its internet broadcast of the Georgia Tech-Jacksonville State game Thursday night.
ESPN owns the rights to every Atlantic Coast Conference game — at least every one that is a home game for a particular ACC school. In short, ESPN owned the rights to Tech’s game vs. Jax State.
ESPN360 is part of the ESPN umbrella, just as ESPN2 and ESPNU are. ESPN chose to broadcast the NC State-South Carolina game last night. ESPN2 and ESPNU broadcast other games or other programs. ESPN designated the Georgia Tech game, as well as the Miami-Charleston Southern game, for ESPN360. In other words, the Tech game was thrust upon Tech. Tech did not choose ESPN360, nor did it politic ESPN to put the game on ESPN360. Georgia Tech, as a member of the ACC, could not decline the assignment.
As a representative of the Tech athletic department, I can promise that all the concerns raised by fans about ESPN360 will be carried forth to the ACC office as well as ESPN.

I even tried not being live and be behind the game for 30 sec and it still wouldn’t stay continuous flow. I gave up and streamed wrek radio and turned on yahoo game tracker. No, we couldn’t see the game because our internet provider doesn’t carry ESPN360. BTW all, it is NOT your internet provider or connection during the live feedback. It is ESPN360 servers or its own local internet bandwidth that connects its servers to the internet.
I suspect servers were so overloaded that they bogged down to performance reminiscent of PC jr days. Shame on ESPN for not anticipating the high level of usage on the first week of the college football season. Everyone in the U.S. that likes football is drooling in anticipation for the season to start, even if we are not playing a top 25 team, it still would be one of the most watched games due to WHEN it is being played, FIRST.
I hope ESPN is, as I type, working to install several new servers and also will have a few backup servers available for the “unforseen” slow downs due to higher than anticipated connections. If one of the major cable or ISPs picks this up, then they had better prepare to double, triple or quadruple existing servers! The finance team won over the network team at ESPN judging by their unprepardness. Finance, sales and marketing teams always screw up things like this. What is worse, they NEVER listen to the technical folks that can tell them nearly exactly what usage will occur and if there current configuration can handle it. Heck, maybe finance or planning teams bought servers from Billy Bobs Server Emporium and they are using old 386 chips or something.
Whomever screwed this up at ESPN360, fire the WHOLE TEAM immediately! They obviously need to go back to school full-time and learn how to provide proper service without undo costs.

It was horrible. It would play for 3 seconds THEN hang up for 10 seconds. I gave up and listened to the game on the radio. Much less stressful!!!

I stuck with it on 360 and it finally cleared up about middle/end of 2nd quarter. I enjoyed the non-commercials and the announcers didnt distract from the game.. Tech looked good but has to improve to compete with ACC foes..This offense is going to be exciting!!! Liked the new uniforms also…

My ISP carries it and no problem connecting, but the feed was jerky with starts and stops. After about 20 minutes, I gave up and listened to the game on WREK internet radio.

Nope. ESPN360 not carried by ISP (Cox Communications in middle GA). Tried Gametracker with no success. Guess it was blocked. Settled for watching NC State and USC and hoping for occasional updates. Kinda ticked off about it.

Not good,ESPN360.COM. Your paying these technicians a lot of money. Repair it or lose a viewer……..

Same stuttering ESPN360 here. It’s not my computers (tried two), and I’m paying for plenty of bandwidth.
I called WGST to confirm that Tech is not letting them broadcast the games on the Internet feed, just over the air. They want you to pay or do without.

AT&T internet service supports ESPN360, so I was happy.
Quality of the stream, on the other hand, was not so good. Video stream was low resolution, and every few minutes it’d freeze — right in the middle of a play — which was very annoying.
But I got to see the game — so I’m happy.

I tried but the coverage was terrible. I have a new computer with 25” screen geared for graphics and I was really anticipating a great show. I was totally frustrated. The picture froze up every three or four seconds, sometimes for as long as two or three minutes. The sound was in and out also, crackly - really terrible. I thought I could watch the pictures, turn the sound off and listen on 107.1 out of Rome. The radio coverage was excellant - came in clear and never had any static. I then discovered that ESPN was about 2 to 3 games minutes behind the actual live action. If ESPN360 is to be worth anything to anybody, they should scrap it and start over. They certainly should not advertise it so heavily if thay don’t have a product woth viewing.

I am in New Mexico and I couldn’t find the game anywhere online so I got in my car and listened to it on my XM radio and loved it.

Could not get ESPN 360 on my ISP. Could not get 790 feed. Got extremely p**. Finally found it on WREK internet feed. I will see Dan Rad in Boston this weekend and I will have it out with him over this BS decision. This is absolutely ridiculous when ESPN has so many channels. I wouldn’t even mind paying the PPV fee for TV or on the internet, but let me have the option to at least pay for the game. I am one p** off fan about this decision and Dan will hear from me this weekend!

I live in Smyrna and Comcast does not carry ESPN360 here either. I emailed Comcast a few weeks ago and got the run around, saying they will look into it. As for the radio, I thought I was listen to 790 AM, not sure, but heard the game until 8:30. Then switch to the FM station 91 that carries the TECH game. It was on there for the rest of the game.
Tech or the ACC should not allow the ESPN360 until all ISP providers carry it, especially with the big games. I too will be upset if the BC game is not on TV.

Listened/wathced thru 3rd qtr. Very painful. I’ve got DSL extreme 5-6 MB download and it was just too choppy to bear. Thank goodness it wasn’t a close game.

I “watched” the game on my i-phone using the ESPN mobile website. Sounds like my experience was better than ESPN 360 which sucks by the way. I am sure about 250 people actually got to watch it- the rest got to cuss it.

Allthough the first part of game was near impossible to view because of freezeup, the service got much better & was ok to watch (I am using DSL from ATT).

If you want to see real football, check out Football Fridays in Georgia on Georgia Public Broadcasting’s web site: www.gpb.org/football. The game of the week — streamed live over the Internet. No pauses, no buffering, no freezing, no waiting on your ISP. Later, the game is available online, on demand, no charge.
GPB’s Football Fridays in Georgia makes ESPN 360 look like a bad joke from a group of rank amateurs! Best of all, if you have high speed Internet and a PC, you can watch this game from anywhere — no charge — without waiting for your ISP to carry it.
High school football is pure football at its best. Thank you, Georgia Public Broadcasting, for bringing it live to everyone!!

Had trouble getting the video to stay on continuously. I t kept stopping and starting no matter what fixes they said to do to correct the problem. Also noted that the video was about two-thrww plays behind the radoi commentary so I figured it had a long delay. I will not attempt to watch it this way again. If Tech insists on giving us this type of coverage its no wonder they are having trouble getting atalantans interested in their program. I am a life-long Tech fan but giving us the home games they are giving us this year, though they will probably be wins for most of them, just can’t get excited about J.State, Gardner-Webb or even Ms.State.

As a GT grad living in Australia, it is not possible to watch the game via the ESPN360. And now you have to subscribe and pay to hear the radio call. It sure seems like they sure are trying to keep alumni uninvolved.

I have a fast desktop computer (nothing else running) and a 6M DSL connection and it was constantly freezing and catching up. It was not really watchable.
I’ve used ESPN360 since it came out and this was the worst performance I’ve seen on a live event. I think they were over capacity somewhere. As other posters mentioned, the replay will work fine.

did any of you try clicking outside of the window that ESPN360 was playing in?(like clicking the windows start bar at the bottom of the screen so IE is still up but not selected) I was having problems with 360 yesterday and at first i thought the choppiness and stops and starts were due to my internet connection, i tried pausing all the small videos in mosaic view and that didn’t help at all, changing video size didn’t help. Turns out the 360 software is buggy or something, cause when i had the IE window highlighted all of a sudden every couple of seconds audio would drop out and video would slow down, then speed up then be at normal speed, over and over again. I clicked outside the IE window(did not minimize or change size) so that it wasn’t highlighted-top bar is blue while highlighted, grey while not- and WALLAH all of a sudden no more hiccups. So that may explain why you guys on 3mb and 6mb DSL are still getting choppy vido. BTW i’m on Verizon based DSL(768K) in DC area. It can’t be a huge relief on your computer resources to have the video up while not highlighted, so it seems ESPN or whoever makes the video player has got some werrrrk to do to get up to snuff.
