Who cares who’s number 1 before the season starts? Now if Georgia is number 1 when the season finishes…
But all this does is put a target on their back. It’s a negative, IMO.

I agree about the target. We’re going to need leadeers to step up and learn to focus only on one game at a time. Let Florida start concentrating on Nov. 1st already. We’ll worry about that when it gets here.

It all comes down to the FL game. We most likely have to win that game to win the east. Without that there is no title shot. Now more than ever whole season comes down to that one game. Have to hope our one loss comes to a SEC west team that we can avenge in title game. Assuming we dont go undefeated…

It will be very tough to hold the #1 spot with the schedule Georgia plays. No other title contender has to face nearly as many ranked teams and the games aren’t sequenced very well either. But what the heck, every fan wants their team to be respected and starting high will make it easier to climb back into the picture after a loss. I don’t think anyone expects UGA to go undefeated. But this team should be at least as good as any of the 3 UGA teams that have won the SEC East this decade, so just focus on that. Win the division and we’ll see where the chips fall in the end.

The Dawgs have the toughtest schedule in the country. LSU won the national title with two losses. The Dawgs can win the national title, but there is no way they will go undefeated. They have guaranteed blow out wins over Vandy, Ga Southern, Central Michigan, Kentucky, and Ga Tech. Sorry Techies, new coach, but the same result. The road games against Arizona State and Auburn will be extremely tough. The games against Tennesse, Alabama and Florida are no picnic. It will be hard to make to the SEC championship without two losses.

I like to break down Georgia’s schedule in to three categories: Contenders, Pretenders, and Laughers. Contenders are teams that could knock us off this year. Pretenders are teams that everyone says could knock us off but really can’t. You can go ahead and put the laughers in the W column.
Contenders:
Alabama -this has more to do with the timing of this game than anything else. No, it does not make Saban the greatest human being that ever lived. He is still the most overrated coach in all of college sports.
Tennessee -will once again be a solid team and there is no question they’ve got our number lately.
LSU -its at Tiger stadium. Nuff said there.
Florida -if they beat us it won’t be because of some revenge factor. That is nonsense. It will be because their defense grew up, Tebow isn’t doubling as a fullback, and they stopped playing like a soft team.
Auburn -hard to imagine we’ll pound them in to the turf three years in a row. I’ll take an ugly win.
Pretenders:
South Carolina -its going to take a little more than 16 points to get it done this year. Georgia won’t beat itself this time around.
Arizona State -this is admittedly an exciting matchup from a purely entertainment perspective, but at the end of the day Arizona State won’t have the depth or team speed to hang with Georgia. It could be errily similar to last year’s sugar bowl.
Laughers:
That would leave everyone else as a laugher. I really don’t know much about that Johnson guy. No one does really. But whatever magic he’s able to work at Georgia Tech won’t have much effect this year. There are too many things working against Tech. It is overwhelming.

Is this really the first time ever UGA has been ranked #1 to start the season? That’s pathetic. Indicative of a small time regional program that’s clearly out of its league. I see 4 losses including an ambush in the desert to start the season. Then they lose to the Vols who have hung 86 on the dawgs in 2 years, then they lose to Fla. which now wins 18 of the last 21, they definitely lose to LSU in baton rouge, then they drop one they shouldn’t lose to either Auburn, Bama, South Carolina, Ga. Tech, or Kentucky. Even Vandy has a chance since they beat the dawgs 2 years ago and should have won last year except they fumbled the ball away at the UGA 10 yard line. Who celebrates by stomping on the Vandy logo anyway after beating them? Its Vandy for Pete’s sake! Those are all games that UGA could easily lose. Actually that looks more and more like 5 losses. Naw, I gotta give the dawgs credit. I think they only lose only 4. It’ll be similar to when Auburn started out No. 1 in 2003 and stumbled to a 9-4 record, which is still good. Good team but not a great team. A team that one year ago stomped on the Vandy logo because you are excited over beating Vandy clearly can’t handle the expectations of winning an NC.

I’m neutral in this so I don’t care but as I’ve always understood it GA. Tech has 5 ncs and UGA 1. But some UGA fans think that UGA deserved the 1942 title. If so then Uga then has 2 ncs but I’ve always understood Tech to have 5. BTW, I don’t hate the dawgs, I think they have a very good team, just not a championship team. They will lose 3 or 4 and still have a good season. I just don’t like delusional people who think UGA has 5 ncs and delusional people who think UGA has already won the 08 title. A poll only means something after 14 games have been played. Its nice to start out no. 1 but it means nothing. Ya haven’t actually won anything. But congrats on the ranking. Its like the 5 ncs that 5th generation thinks the dawgs have. Its imaginary and not real. If you’re no. 1 at then end of the season only then is it not delusional and imaginary.

It’s good to be the king. Nobody should worry about what fans of all the lesser schools think. It is only jealousy that causes them to write the petty little posts about the mighty Georgia Bulldogs. We are number one in all the land! Nobody on the schedule really poses that much of a threat. Lsu and Auburn come the closest, but we own both teams. Ahhhhhh. Excellence feels good. Let the reign begin!!!

Aside from the #1 ranking, what we need to be concerned about is Tennessee. We haven’t beaten them for awhile, and, as they showed last year, you have to beat the Vols to win the East.

Worthy? Any team is worthy at the beginning of the season. Who cares at this time of the year. Come January is when it counts. I say GA ends up 16th in the Final Poll. The 2 to 3 losses they will experience will do them in.

Hey obnoxious Georgia fan, I’m not bitter. I think UGA is a good football team. I just think its kinda silly to proclaim them nat’l title champs in the preseason. That’s all.
As for 5th generation he’s just typical of the delusional fan that every program has. His source is simply not credible. No one at UGA recognizes 5 nat’l titles. Ask any UGA fan. Also, he foolishly uses a Georgia encylopedia source rather than an independent source. That’s like an Alabama fan saying that they have 17 ncs when in fact they only have 12 in 1 of the 2 major polls. 3rd party magazines such as the sporting news do not count. It has to be in one of the 2 major polls at the time. For example, the sporting news proclaimed Auburn the 2004 nat’l champs in a feel good story because they didn’t get a chance to play for it all. Does that mean they really shared the title because one pub declared them champs. Nope! That’s the logic that 5th generation used to give UGA 5 titles. I guarantee that in the years other than 1980 that those mythical titles were not given by either the UPI or AP. And for him to say UGA won it in 1968. I’m calling absolute BS on that one. I don’t remember who won it but I absolutely guarantee it wasn’t UGA. It was moe like USC or OU, BAMA, someone who was actually dominant in the 60s. I don’t know where he gets that fairly tale 1968 title from. Same with the 1927 and 1946 titles. No one of serious note recognizes UGA as the 1968 nat’l champs or for those other years either. 5th generation should use something a little more credible than a homegrown georgia publication. What an idiot!

Hey 5th gendawg,
I went back and looked up your imaginary titles. I see that you claim the 1968 title after finishing 8-1-2 including losing your bowl game. The LITKENHOUS poll proclaimed you nat’l champs even after losing your bowl game. The @$*& what poll? The LITKENHOUS poll according to the article!!! You have got to be freaking kidding me! Where was the UPI and AP ranking? Those were what counted. Also, the article say they won in 1927 even though they lost their final game to Tech. Really? What credible poll awards a nat’l title to a team that lost its last game? Must have been the AJC poll. As for 1946 and even 1942 it doesn’t mention what specific polls annointed the dawgs champs. Must have been the AJC poll or the Litkenhous poll again. Dang sure doesn’t sound like it was the AP or the UPI or it seems like the article would have mentioned those 2 polls. Take your delusional Litkenhous poll and go lay down in your 8 by 8 PADDED cell. And don’t hyperventilate with that tight straightjacket on!

I listened to Mark Richt and he bascially said to his team that “if being ranked 1# is something that will make you play better, then it’s a good thing. If it’s something that’s going to make you be lazy, then it’s a bad thing”. This tells me that he has his team focused, regardless of what some may think. If you dawg haters are expecting the Dawgs to overlook someone, you’re fooling yourselves. If a team beats UGA this year it will be b/c they just outplayed them. Perspectiveness comes from coaching, and Richt has been apart of enough 1# teams to know how to prepare his troops.

Like everyone else, I am ready to get it going and anxious for the season to begin. Glad to be #1 and am happy to be there than left out of the top 25. Of course the Dawgs deserve it. They finished #2 (and should have been #1) and returned practically everyone. Our team will prove it this year. Btw, our team is 80% sophmores and freshmen. This will be the decade of the Dawgs. It is pretty obvious you Tech fans have an inferiority complex. This is evident due to the fact that you are jumping onto the UGA blog. Let’s see… we have the “Donald Trump” of Tech graduates informing us of his personal accomplishments… reaching level 5 of Dungeon and Dragons is not held in high esteem on this blog… better try the Tech blog. Secondly, we have the typical Tech guy who proudly states that Tech has 4 NC titles. Congrats… you beat out Yale and Army on three of those titles. The most recent title of 1990 was accomplished in the… let’s see, was it the Orange Bowl, no, the Sugar Bowl, no a 3-loss Virginia team played Tenn in the Sugar that year… oh yea, it was the freakin’ Citrus Bowl. Tell me… how does the ACC Champ go to the Citrus? When was the last time Tech play in a “major bowl”… I believe you have to go back to the 1960s. To be fair, Tech has won the NC title more recently than UGA and look at how they built off of it. Boise, Boise Boise.

Hey 5thgendawg, Thanks for putting up your source. It was great to see the @#%$&* LITKENHOUS poll awarding you nat’l titles even after losing your bowl game. Thanks for that credible source LMAO. And thanks for nameless polls that supposedly awarded you nat’l titles in the other years even after you lost your last game. You have no credibility. No wonder all your fellow brethren stick to 1 nat’l title. Incidentally, your comment that UGA has the best football team in the country most of the time has got to have even the most hardcare dawg fans laughing their butts off. You’ve won 2 sec titles in the last 28 years, no nat’l titles, your biggest rival has beaten you 17 out of 20, but yet you say that statistically you have had the best football team in the country most of the time. That most be news to LSU fans who’ve won 3-4 SECs and 2 nat’l titles in the last 6 years. That must also be news to USC which has 2 nat’l titles in the last 4 or years. It must be news to all the other many programs that have had more nat’l and conference titles than you have in the last 28 years that UGA is actually the best football team in America MOST OF THE TIME. I’m glad u were at least modest enough to note that the dawgs are the best team in the country only MOST OF THE TIME instead of all the time. Where and how does UGA produce idiots like yourself. I guess its the fact that UGA is obviously on par academically with Harvard, Yale, and all those other “ivee” league teams as you you mention. I’m certain all your UGA brethren agree fully with you.

Arrogant? I’ve been called a lot of things as a Georgia fan, but arrogant ain’t one of ‘em. Drunk and obnoxious, maybe, but definitely not arrogant. Oh I’ll rub your nose it when we kick the crap out of you after you’ve been trying to rub my nose in it before the game…but arrogant? Besides, the gaytors retired the title of ‘Most Arrogant’ years ago - that’s what makes it so sweet when we beat ‘em - two out of the last four and the most all-time.
This is one Dawg fan that doesn’t appreciate the pre-season rankings since it means that either the ‘jinx is in’ or otherwise mediocre teams will play their butts off to beat us, or both. Either way it makes a tough schedule all the more tougher. One thing I do believe though, this is the year we, and a bunch of more SEC teams, set Steve Superior’s mind back to calling it a career.

Vern, if you don’t care about the NC’s for GT and UGA why keep harping on it? Personally, I can remember GT winning theirs in ‘90 and UGA in’80. None of the players at either school can say that. I love the past more than most (degree in History) but it’s not going to effect this year at all on the field. Let’s concentrate on the present.
And I don’t recall anybody but the AP anointing them as arbiters of who is official National Champion until the creation of the monster that is the BCS, and now they’re not even a part of that.

Does big red black dawg actually believe UGA is the premiere “tradetion” (his spelling, not mine) in the country. That must be news to the USCs and LSUs of the world who’ve actually won national titles in the last 28 years. And what winning tradition exactly is it that put them there? Was it the winning tradition of 2 SEC titles in 28 years with no nat’l titles? Or is it the winning tradition against your biggest rivals like Fla. where you’ve won 3 out of the last 20. Or is it the tradition of letting Tenn. vols hang 86 points on you over 2 years in blowout beatdowns including. Is this the tradition that makes you the PREMIERE program in the country? Or r u just plain freaking stupid? Boots must be stupid also. He thinks that out of the 4 classes freshman through senior that 80% of the players all fall into the 2 underclasses. I guess Georgia only signed 5 or 10 players in each of the junior and senior classes as opposed to signing the standard 20-25 players each class. They must not teach statistics or basic math at UGA for boots to come up with a BS stat like that. U boys just aint to bright are ya?

So 1953dawg calls Auburn, Fla., Tennessee loser programs who don’t have a chance of winning the conference and says UGA is the best team in the SEC over the last 7 years. I guess he never lets facts get in the way of an argument. Seems to me LSU has won 3 conf. titles including 2 nat’l titles the last 7 years. Seems a little better than ugas 2 secs in 28 years or 2 secs in 7 years. Don’t ya think boy? Also seems to me Fla. has won 2 conf titles and a nat’l title the last 7 years and has beaten the dawgs at least 5 of the last 7 and 17 of the last 20. What a loser program according to this idiot. And I guess he forgets the last 2 beatdowns the vols put on his dawgs while hanging 86 over 2 years in 2 blowout wins. They hung 51 on you in your own house 2 short years ago but they are a loser program. Yeah! Right! How logical u are! Then we have Auburn which owns the head to head record against you and had a perfect season in 04 but didn’t get a chance to play for the title. I guess they suck also. What a moron you are. But like I said UGA fans just don’t let the facts get in the way of their argument. Congrats on your 2 sec titles in the last 28 years and congrats on your PREseason no. 1 ranking. What manner of a moronic statement is that? Unfreakingbelievable!!!! You can’t even spell the word always, the word tradition, the word reputation nor the word definitely. How the hell do you make academic judgement when you can’t even freaking spell right. What a freaking ignoramous! To Gator chomp, sorry to tell you but the two most overrated teams in the top 10 of this poll are Fl, and Clemson. Neither of your pathetic programs finished in top 10 last year, and if it wasn’t for Zook leaving all those great players for the used car salesman Meyer to put on the field, you wouldn’t have anything to talk about. Your loser coach can’t win anything with his pathetic overrated players, Tebow included. The loser wins a heisman trophy with a team that loses 4 games, and he has never won a game against a top 25 ranked team that he had to lead a winning drive in the 4th qtr. His heisman tropy was won by ESPN and his media sucking coach. He had 2 td runs of more than 10 yds out of his 21. Great runner. He is a fullback that cant outrun a d.l., yet you ignorant Fl. fans think he is a stud. If he ever leads his team on a winning drive in the 4th qtr. to beat a ranked team like Stafford has done 4 times, or if he ever beats a top 25 team that he actually starts the game then you ignorant Fl. fans can come on this blog and brag. Want to compare your overrated qb. to Stafford. Here’s a good stat for you loser Fl. fans to chew on. Wins that qb started against top 25 teams? Stafford 9, gay Tbow 1.Stafford who has beaten 9 ranked teams as a starter is the best qb, and maybe that’s why he is projected as the #1 qb in Kiper’s 2009 draft, and your boy isn’t even mentioned as a top NFL qb. He is a system qb in college, just like the Hawaii qb last year. Oh, I forgot, Stafford beat his team last year just like he beat UF. Go on a blog where you can brag. It’s great to be recognized, but doesn’t mean a whole lot right now. I’m a little surprised at ESPN’s talking heads and how Sturdivant’s injury seems to take us out of the mix for the ‘who’s number 1’ discussion, despite the fact they’ve branded us the team with the most depth in Division 1. But, that seems to play into keeping us an underdog and, hopefully, out of the ‘Kiss of Death’ curse of being a #1 team. If we can feel like the underdogs, our players should stay grounded an focused… win or lose, if they can play that way, that’s all I, as a Georgia fan, can ask for.

That’s right you’re a delusional, jean short wearing moron and you wouldn’t know that. I’ll be in Jacksonville watching the Dawgs destroy your overrated gators. Lol… I love it when Gator fans like Gator Chompe try to call out Georgia fans like living in Trailers and working at Waffle Houses, as if their fans don’t live and work the same way… I guess when that’s the only argument you have, you use that.. as opposed to UGA which has bragging rights by beating the Gators soundly and in an upset, despite their poor, battered heisman trophy winner from 2007, who, along with his offensive line, couldn’t handle the Georgia defense. Our D will be back this year, and Teblow will be on his back for the majority of the game… just like last year. OH! and our QB doesn’t cry after losing… he’s too grown up and classy for that.

I am not sure why some people on here keep bringing up the past. Sure Florida has beaten us 17 out of 20 times. But no gator fan is willing to admit how UGA dominated them for twenty years prior to 1990. South Carolina fans want to bring to our attention that they beat UGA 2 years in a row… Gee what has happened before then? Chances are UGA was consistantly taking you out behind the wood shed. Besides, no REAL athlete wants to play at South Carolina any ways. The techies just want to see their blog up on an opposing teams blog to show proof that they can actually operate a computer. Now we are getting ohio state people chimming in. Funny, I do not recall that ohio state ever beating UGA, not to mention not beating any SEC team. Seems that everyone has forgotten how UGA was overlooked last year when the bowl selections came out. By all rights UGA should have been in the BCS or at least played in the rose bowl to see if USC can stand up to our brand of football. Intead we were FORCED to play a high school team from Hawaii. My point is, to all the UGA detractors..life isn’t fair. Get use to it. We are #1, and your team isn’t. I will enjoy being a fan of the #1 team in the country. And I will enjoy being a fan of the BCS champion (UGA) in Jan.09. There is nothing that any of these detractors can say that will spoil this wonderful and exhilirating time for all GEORGIA fans.

Gator Chomp. Give me a break, Tebow sucks. He will never win a National Championship as a starter. Everyone knows that for the past 10 years or so the Heisman trophy is a joke. He won the Heisman and Florida sucked it up that year. Florida doesn’t know how to develop quarterbacks and that’s why they always fail in the NFL. He will get drafted in the NFL, but he’ll never start a game. After this year he needs to begin his life career as a missionary. Tebow and the gators will have a mediocre season this year and you know it. Tell all of your boys at ESPN to quit their love affair with Tebow. He’s going to break their hearts. GO DAWGS!!!

Although I enjoy the #1 ranking, it certainly does make me nervous as a UGA fan. I hope that Richt keeps the players grounded and mentally prepared for each game. I don’t understand why so many on here are haters and resort to mocking this fine institution and its players. Yes, there are some players who have gotten into trouble lately. They are “kids” and the crimes they committed were not of a serious nature. How is this relevant to football anyway? There are some great teams in the SEC and we will have to work hard to maintain our ranking. Let the smack talk begin when the games are played. GO DAWGS!

Gator chop, once again you either can’t read or you are just stupid. Bring some facts or stats you ignorant blue jean shorts wearing thug. I told you why Stafford was the better qb. Told you the facts about your gay boy and why he can’t hold a candle to Stafford, but yet all you can say is National Championship, which the only qb on the field for Fl was Leak, not loser boy tbow.Oh, i forgot he ran the ball in from the fullback position from the 1 yardline like he always does. I told you he won a heisman trophy with a 4 loss team, that he didn’t lead to any wins in the 4th qtr, tell me what your gay boy did. Oh i forgot he had 21 tds rushing, and 19 were from the 2 yd line. What a glorified fullback you losers have playing qb. He can’t come close to Stafford when it comes to crunch time. Remember this stat loser, 9 wins against top 25 teams, versus 1 for gayboy Tbow. Heisman, my a*. Oh, one last stat,Stafford one win versus Tbow against no losses as a starter. Tbow doesn’t have Leak to win the games for him anymore, therefore the loser can’t win. Check the facts loser boy Gator Chomp

As a Tenn. fan this makes me happy. The last time UGA was ranked this high was 2004 and UT caught them high off their win over LSU the week before. I am not going to act like UGA is not a good team, but I need to see more of Stafford before I crown them number 1. As a Tenn. fan the lasting image of Stafford is seeing you guys throwing screen passes down by 28 in Knoxville in the third quarter last season. In my opinion the only good defense he threw on was Auburn. No matter how good Moreno is, Stafford will have to play very well for UGA to lose 1 game or less with the brutal schedule. I think UGA better look out for UT again because I would think Georgia would view the Auburn,LSU, and UF as tougher games and maybe even Alabama. 12 more days till college football!

Ohio state blackeyes, you must have drank too much wine today. How can you of all people come of a ga blog. When was the last time your pathetic program beat the SEC in a bowl game? Never. Yet you come on a blog and brag. Please, stay on the Wisconsin, Penn St, Mich blogs and brag. You have been beaten so badly the last 2 NC games by the SEC that it is a total joke, and you have never beaten an SEC team in a bowl game. How much domination do you idiots need to prove that you don’t belong on the field with an SEC team, much less on one of their blogs. If you losers were in the SEC, you would have never played for a NC, much less an SEC championship. The only thing you should be happy about is that you play in the pathetic conference you play in. Don’t even think about coming south and winning a game, much less the west coast, where you will get totally dominated again by a team with speed USC. You are about as slow as your team, we will excuse you for that.

I think 1-5 is a pick ‘em right now. Gerogia, OSU, Oklahoma, USC, Florida are all pretty much the same. Any one of those schools could be #1. All have hard schedules. UGA & FL play LSU, Auburn, Tenn, UGA add Arizona State, USC & OSU play each other, Oklahoma will have Mizzou, Kansas & Texas. So all five schools could be #1. I am betting, even it UGA is undefeated, the USC-OSU winner will vault to #1.

Rocky top2, how many SEC titles has Tenn had this decade? 0. How many SEC titles has UGA won this decade 2. How many SEC titles has Fl won this decade? 2. Your program is the 3rd best in the SEC east this decade, and will remain there after this year. Oh, one last question to you pathetic orange mountain folks, how many coaches have beaten Tenn in knoxville 3 times in a row, answer: 2 alabama coaches, Bryant, Stallings, and 1 UGA coach, RICHT. We don’t fear the ugly orange, but you had better fear the Red and Black. You had better pray for Duke to send back your O.C. He is he only O.C. that could beat UGA. Can’t wait for Halloween.

Doug, you had better check the schedules. UGA plays 3 teams in the top 10,and USC and OS play 1. If UGA beats all 3, there is no way either USC or OS is ranked above them. Not to mention the fact that UGA plays 6 teams in the top 25, plus another top 25 team in the SECC game, which neither USC or OS have a conference championship game. Therefore, if UGA is undefeated, your prediction is totally a joke. Reality check: if one team plays 7 teams ranked in top 25, and another team plays 2 or 3, the team that plays 7 top 25 teams will be #1. Your prediction is totally off base, and has no substance at all. You must be a Fl. or O.S. fan, because your lack of knowledge is obvious.

RockyTop2, good post. You presented it without ridiculous comments or profanity. I agree, Stafford has to play good for UGA to succeed and our schedule is brutal (we play 6 of Playboy’s top 25). UT has always been a tough opponent, but I like our chances this year. We have the week off before playing you, you have a new OC and a new QB, we are at home, and we have a large number of returning starters. I think it will be a great game. No prediction here, but I like our chances.

Stafford beat your superman last year when both were starters. I know you are slow, but how hard is that to understand. One qb wins 9 games against the best competition as a starter, and one qb wins 1 game against the best competition. You my friend show how stupid you are every time you appear on this blog. Until you and steve can bring any facts supporting your gaybow, then stay on the fl. blogs where people can understand your middle school mentality. You losers always have an excuse. Bottomline is you can’t compete with the SEC or any conference that has speed, and you want compete with USC. Yet you will win out after that game, and everyone on ESPN including gayboy Herbstreet will talk about how great you are even though you will beat only one team in the top 25 as usual. Most of you Georgia fans are delusional. How you manage to throw around terms like “losers” while ignoring your own team’s losses to South Carolina and Tennessee is beyond me. Wasn’t the halftime score against Tennessee 28-0? Were the Dawgs losers then? I saw the end of the South Carolina game on TV the other day. Your defense looked pathetic at the end - the very average SC running game just kept tearing through the line. And didn’t the Dawgs need overtime to beat a very average Alabama team? Oh, I know, they’re an SEC team so they’re automatically awesome. Except when they lose to Louisiana Monroe. Aren’t you like 3-15 against Florida since 1990? But they’re an SEC team, to, so they’re automatically good, too. Except when they lose to Michigan. Face it - you had a good second half of 2007, played a team that absolutely did not belong in the BCS in your bowl game, and are talking s** like you’re the ‘85 Bears. You better shut up and just hope that you have enough players not suspended or injured to actually field a team on Aug. 30.

I’m tired of the detractors who keep bringing up our opponent in the Sugar Bowl. That was politics and not what the University wanted. UGA lobbied hard for the Fiesta or Rose Bowls but got snubbed. All the Dawgs could do was take care of business in their game, which the did quite convincingly. And UGA didn’t rank Hawaii #10 in the country; the polls did. The University and the Athletic Department knew the Warriors were overmatched, but you play who you’re scheduled to play. At the very least understand that.

Ohio State Buckeyes:
I certainly have nothing against Ohio State, the state of Ohio itself, and I understand the quite stellar OSU football tradition. However, to come onto this Blog and make derogatory comments about an entire region (along with a plethora of offensive stereotypical comments about Southerners in general) is infantile and irrelevant.
While it may be a difficult concept for you to grasp, the high growth sectors of the nation’s economy have moved out of the blighted “rust belt” states (i.e. Ohio and Pennsylvania) and have relocated southward. That’s why the south has a lower unemployment rate than the midwest. It’s why people are moving into the south instead of out of it. So while the nation’s historical industrial epicenter has been somewhere in the vicinity of Ohio, that’s not the case anymore, and never will be again. Similarly, college football has moved on. The Big Ten is simply the big brother of the MAC, with better coaching, bigger linemen and larger budgets. Is the football cutting edge? Nope. Is the conference competitive? Uh uh. Georgia, LSU, Florida and Auburn would all go unbeaten if they took Ohio State’s place in the Big 10, and Tennessee would come close. So forgive our disdain as we predict yet another annual butt-whipping for your plodding Buckeyes at the hands of the SEC Flavor of the Month. Every season, you waltz through your cupcake schedule, beat up on everybody in that quasi-FCS league in the process, and then wonder why the Buckeyes aren’t competitive when they play for a national title that they are only marginally more qualified to play for than the unbeaten Hawaii team that Georgia humiliated last season.
You know why you’re not competitive? Because the BIg Ten is a dinosaur, and the comet has impacted at Yucatan (if you don’t understand the reference, look it up. Try Googling “iridium layer.” Oh, but what do we dumb Southerners know?).
As evidence, how many SEC teams has Ohio State beaten in bowl games? That’s right, ZERO. It has NEVER HAPPENED.
The midwest had a great run as a bastion of industry. But factories are closing and cities are emptying because history has passed the region by. The Sun Belt is where people go to find work nowadays, and you aren’t in it.
The Big Ten has had a great run of football. But you know what? Sport often reflects life.
Here’s a cheer for the Ohio State Buckeyes, with a great history of champions. The SEC welcomes you to the 21st Century. Again.

Three losses are easy to imagine with that schedule. At SC, at Arizona St., at LSU, Tennessee at home, Florida in JAX, at Auburn. No way this UGA team can get through that unscathed.
Look. Hawaii was wayyyyyy overmatched in the Sugar Bowl. A mid-range SEC team would have beaten them by two touchdowns. That doesn’t over-ride UGA’s deficiencies. Their receivers could not make plays last year. They had consistency problems on the OL, and they just lost their left tackle. There’s no linebacker depth. Their DE’s will struggle to get a pash rush this year.
I’m telling you, they could easily lose in Columbia in week three.

The only team on the schedule that even has a chance against the Dawgs, who probably have their strongest team in 30 years, is LSU. Florida’s a 1 man team and doesn’t have a defense that can get close to stopping Moreno and Stafford, the best backfield combo in America by far. I predict a 14-0 season, with a blowout win over USC in Miami for the title. USC’s overrated as usual, and plays in a weak conference. Just like Hawaii, the Dawgs will blow them out.

Chuck:
I’m a Georgia fan, and I agree that three losses are possible with this schedule. Not likely, but possible. Heck, it’s the SEC. And ASU on the road is no picnic. Last preseason, I thought LSU would not lose a game in the regular season, although there were some games that I thought might be close (Auburn, Florida and Virginia Tech). Did they lose those? Nope. Would I have predicted LSU’s losses to Arkansas and Kentucky? No way. That ball bounces funny sometimes.
HOWEVER, the talent level and the coaching expertise are there to run the table. What most people don’t realize is that Georgia is literally two or three deep at every position with quality players. You mention the loss of Trinton Sturdivant as afactor for Georgia. I agree, Trinton was a stud, but the loss occurred in the preseason. Georgia has 14 top-shelf linemen dressed out. They have the luxury of shuffling the lineup for three weeks before the first game and for six weeks before they have their first true test at USC. I assure you that Coach Searels will have a formidable OL assembled by the South Carolina game. Offensive tackle will be fine. They were much thinner and much younger last season, and despite your admonition that there were “problems” on the OL, the offense did pretty dang well against Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, Tech and Hawaii to end last season, averaging 38 PPG against those 5 bowl teams. The receivers made a few plays against UF (Massaquoi’s 80 yard TD), Auburn (another long Massaquoi TD) and Tech (Sean Bailey’s grab in the end zone comes to mind), and the receiving corps will be much improved this season with the addition of AJ Green and Tavarres King. And there’s plenty of linebacker depth—not sure where that came from. Beyond the two deep, the depth is young, but talented. The only depth area of concern is at FS, where the third-string player is a redshirt freshman (albeit a very talented one). Contrast that to Florida, where they are hoping that a highly-touted true freshman can come in and start for a secondary that was the worst in the SEC against the pass last season. The DE rotation will be fine (there are six or seven, including one of last season’s two starters, who are virtually interchangeable). I’m not sure how you got the idea that this will be an area of weakness, as Howard was the only DE we lost last season, and he did not even start until his senior year.
It’s clear from what you are saying that you don’t know much about Georgia football. The reality of it is that if Georgia loses three games against this schedule, it will be because they failed to execute. The Dawgs are more talented than any team on their schedule. They could have five turnovers and lose a game, or even two, but they are more likely to go unbeaten than they are to lose three games. Could they lose at Columbia? Of course. Will they? It’ s unlikely. The Gamecocks will have a hard time moving the ball against Georgia’s D, which will be much better than what they saw in Athens last season, and Georgia’s offensive depth will simply wear down the talented, but thin, USC defense. Plus, there’s the revenge factor. Georgia has circled two dates on the early-season calendar—at USC and at home against UT after a bye week. I’d bet you money right now that Georgia will not come into those games unfocused this season. The two regular season games I worry about the most are at LSU and at Auburn—teams with solid line play and good defenses that can keep things close. Florida will be only marginally better on defense, UT is always tough but beatable, and ASU had no OL last year and has lost two of its offensive starters (at OT and TE) already.
Could Georgia lose three games? Yep. Will it? Probably not. Will they lose in Columbia in week three? Well, it could snow that day in Columbia, too. But it’s not likely.

Funny that anyone would say Georgia is Americas team . That would be true if America’s boundries went from Buford to Dalton. Now as far as #1, sure they desereved that , but with the injuries the arrest, they will not stay there long. Georgia is a lot like Ohio State in rankings. Ohio State is always ranked highly but as soon as they play a quality team they get exposed. For the 1st time in nearly 30 years is playing a schedule that the elite of the SEC have been doing for years. I still do not call ASU a reach outside of conference as they may win 6 games this year. The schedule these homers are bragging about is their SEC schedule and isnt that supposed to be on the schedule anyway? Enjoy the ranking as IM sure any school would at this point , but its a little tough to swallow when your bragging about a ranking when not a game has been played. As the rest of the SEC will be climbing in the polls te over hyped uga will be falling.

Ohio State University???? Here is a fact Ohio State fan. The last 13 times your power house of a football program has played an SEC team, Ohio State has LOST. Yes, the last 13 times you played an SEC school you have LOST. When you have played one with the NC on the line you have lost by an average margin of nearly 3 touchdowns. Those are facts . I hate uga , but no school is ever as overrated than OSU. Consistantly ranked in the top 10, and consistantly lose to the SEC. That record goes all the way back to the Citrus Bowl where Tennessee was a 9 point underdog and destroyed you !

Why shouldn’t UGA be #1?
It’s not like we lost at home last year to the yard birds and failed to score a TD.
We did get stomped by Tennessee and didn’t even win our divison. But we did beat Vandy at their place and we jumped on their star at midfield afterwards. That was really cool.
And thanks to an unsportsmanlike penalty we beat Florida for like the third time in 20 years.
With all of that said, I really think the voters were looking at our dismantling of Hawaii last year in determining where we should be ranked. They saw us pick apart the WAC champs - one of the greatest bowl teams of all time - and decided we were #1 material.
Now, I do have concerns myself what with the loss of our best offensive lineman who plays blind side left tackle.
And having just a couple of proven safeties in the mix and some new faces at defensive end is a little troubling.
Of course, we don’t have a proven wide receiver beyond MoMa and some say he isn’t proven either.
But what really worries me is having to replace our field goal kicker with a freshman.
And of course the fact that Matt Stafford for all his All-World accolades and time in the McDonalds drive-through has about a 50% completion rate and about as many INTs as TDs.
And I pray at night to the spirit of UGA XXXVI that Moreno doesn’t get injured so we have to find out if one of those freshmen is any good.
No, I think the AP has us just where we should be.

Yes, my Gamecocks have lost three in a row at home to your leg humpers (ironically, the last time we beat the Goats was when another Heisman candidate came to town and left with 5 INTs) but we are also 2-2 at your place during the Richt era…
I guess your point is that homefield advantage doesn’t mean much in this series?

THE Ohio State Buckeyes, I will begin referring to you as the Black Knight (explained at the end of this post).
Is the Waffle House reference the best you can come up with? Sounds like you spend a lot of time there. Too cheap to buy a newspaper? Lame. Anyway, I digress. I went back and read many of your awe inspiring posts and thought I’d respond to a few.
You mock people for using their initials as their name, yet you use “The Ohio State Buckeyes” as your name. Pot, kettle…….kettle, pot.
Your “storied” program is a lifetime 0-13 against the SEC. It has an overall bowl record of 18-21. UGAs overall bowl record is 24-16-3. More bowl games, more wins, fewer losses. Let’s focus on the past 4 bowl games because they involved many players (including 5th year seniors) who are still on the roster. You had 2 wins - one of which was the prestigious Alamo bowl - and two blowout losses to SEC teams. UGA is 3-1 the past 4 years.
speed is overrated? All I heard from some OSU fans was that if Ted Ginn hadn’t gotten hurt you would have defeated Florida. Yeah, and if my Aunt had a pecker she’d be my Uncle. Perhaps he shouldn’t have celebrated in the end zone after his kick off return. Hurt his foot dancing. LOLOLOL (I borrowed that one from you, you clever little thing). Ginn was good, but he wasn’t worth 27 points. I like what UF Defensive End Jarvis Moss said after the game - “Honestly, we’ve played a lot better teams than them. I could name four or five teams in the SEC that could probably compete with them and play the same type of game we did against them.” Truer words were never spoken.
Heard in a bar on a Friday night in Ohio: ALRIGHT, I’m being transferred to Georgia! Heard in a bar on a Friday night in Atlanta: Oh no, I’m being transferred to Ohio. LOLOLOL (again, borrowed from you, you clever little thing).
As much as I would love to play the big, bag Buckeyes, it just won’t happen. The BCS will avoid you like the plague. No way in the world they will put you in the NC game unless the sponsors want to continue losing viewers in the 2nd quarter. Chances are greater that UGA will not win the NC than they are for winning it, but I’ll accept whatever happens. That being said, the chances of the Buckdances winning the NC are none. The BCS will find some way to avoid your inflated record against wimp opponents.
I still find it interesting that you would continue to jack you jaw after two consecutive blowout losses to SEC schools. You’re kind of like the Black Knight in “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”. You have both arms and legs cut off by your opponent, and you still talk trash about how you’ll destroy your opponents. LMAO!! (thought I’d modify your LOLOLOL thing).
Well, Black Knight, enjoy your Waffle House breakfast on Roswell Road. Be sure to tip. That is, of course, if you can figure out 15% of your bill.

Go Dawgs! Yessss, they deserve the #1 Rating…heck the dawg fans have thought they were #1 every year since they bought and paid for Herschel. Now the rest of the country has decided that it’s put up or SHUT UP time for the Dawgnation. Make em #1 and all the hype that goes with it and Saint Mark can deliver what they want. Artie, why do you categorize a loss as a choke? I can see 5 or 6 opponents who have a legitimate shot at beating us, but if/when we do lose, I would hardly call it a choke. If we lose, we lose, but at this time I like our chances.

Bottom Line
What this means is that if UGA wins the SEC (no matter how many loses) They will play for the National Title. Because they are the CONSENSUS #1 ranked team preseason and with the SEC dominating in the National title the last 2 years, there is no way the polls wouldn’t put them in the title game with an SEC championship. They would jump teams just like LSU did last year after winning the SEC. This should be a very interesting season and hopefully a great one.

Jealousy is such an ugly and pititul emotion. Other programs would trade places with us in a HEARTBEAT. And while it doesn’t technically mean anything. It does, because UGA can now lose one or maybe even two (see LSU) against that schedule (depending on what teams they are) and still end up in Miami. The higher you start, the easier it is. We COULD lose in Columbia on September 13 (says here we won’t), but even if we do, we are still gonna be ranked in the top 5 or 6 teams with plenty of season to climb back up.
And think about what all of this publicity: magazine covers (SI), national newspaper covers (USA Today) is doing for UGA’s recruiting. CMR and staff are already dominating on the recruiting trails and this will make it that much better. We are a national program now. A POWERHOUSE (yes, SOS, a powerhouse). And fans of other programs better get used to us. UGA is not going anywhere for a long while. Enjoy those sour grapes…

Good Morning (again) Ohio State Buckeyes:
The history lesson was a gift from me to you. Sometimes a little education is warranted. You didn’t refute it, so I suppose you agree with it (of course, you can’t really refute fact).
I’m not certain what to make of the Waffle House monologue. You say that you frequent that establishment and then proceed to ridicule it. Is that some sort of self-flagellation exercise you engage in every morning? Or is there some subliminal anti-Southern message hidden in your otherwise incomprehensible prose? Either way, it doesn’t bother me one way or another. I’m a physician. I’m at work by 5 AM every day and don’t have the luxury of killing time at the Waffle House. Maybe that’s a Yankee thing…
Anyway, enjoy the season. If you get by USC (and you might—they only return 9 starters, and Sanchez may not be full speed by then), you should cruise until your bowl game. There’s certainly no one on that marshmallow schedule that could render any meaningful competition. We may see you or we may not. If we do, I’m sure Coach Richt will be glad to continue your “education.”
Spin this any way you want. But the truth hurts when you’re living a lie.

It’s hard for all of you to handle that UGA is the premire football program in the country. I’m sorry for you. Just remember, if our school teachers ever decide to make it easier for players to get into school we’ll be even better. Really, the only reason we don’t win the NC every year is that UGA is so hard to get into. Georgia is a top five school for classes and that makes it hard to get the best athleates admitted to school. So, just remember it could be worse for yall haters.

Hey Johnthedawg,
I questioned 5th generation dawg’s bs source yesterday and hear is what I found after reading that bs article. The imaginary 1968 nc was given to UGA by the Litenhous poll! WTF!!!!! The litenhous poll. Are you freaking kidding me. Not the AP or UPI but the litenhous poll, whatever the hell that is. Also, that year they finished 8-1-2 with the loss being in their bowl game yet you idiots think they won the title. Also, in 1 of the other years they lost their season finale to Tech but some obscure poll gave UGA a title. Must have been the AJC poll. Same with 2 of the other imaginary titles. It doesn’t mention what polls suppposedly awarded them the title. Sorry buddy but the only polls that count are the 2 main ones at the time, which have always been the AP and in the past the UPI. Auburn had a fine season in 2004 and was declared nat’l champ by the sporting news even though USC won the BCS title and the AP. Auburn doesn’t consider it a nat’l title though just because one magazine says its so. And 5th gen dawgs source is a homegrown georgia pub. What credibility? What a joke. UGA has one nat’l title only and every dawg fan will tell you that and the school will tell you that. Quite coming up with imaginary titles from bs pubs and polls like the unheard of litvenhous poll. Imbeciles!!!

Ohio State Buckeye, get some of this. First of all we will now call your team The Ohio State Suckeyes. And we will now refer to you and your Suckeyes as “youce guys”. Youce guys have had your fanny slapped two years in a row in the NC game. NC for youce guys means NO CHAMPIONSHIP and NO COMPETITION. Florida and LSU kicked youce guys butt so bad, that both teams said youce guys would be a middle of the pack team in the SEC. Your Suckeyes have never beaten an SEC team in football, so where do youce guys get off talking trash to the SEC? If the Waffle House is so bad, why do youce guys eat there? I guess youce guys are trying to get a date. After Southern Cal spanks your fannies, youce guys will not be heard from on this blog again this year. We here in the south hope youce guys go undefeated, so an SEC team can spank youce guys fannies for the third year in a row. Oh yea, I almost forgot about when youce guys came down to the Georgia Dome for the NC in basketball. Youce guys left town with NC, NO CHAMPIONSHIP as your Suckeyes took another fanny slapping from Florida.
Now take your chump butt back to Suckeye country if you don’t like it down here.

To “sickandtired”. I’m still amazed at the amount of hostility directed towards Mark Richt, and most of it has to do with his faith. You must be a religion hating Democrat. Not only will UGA do well this year, so will John McCain. As far as what Coach Richt has done, consider this:

So the dawgs are THE PREMIERE football program in the country. That must be news to USC which has won 2 ncs in the last 4 years, LSU which has won 2 ncs in the last 5 years, and Florida which won it 2 years ago and has beaten UGA 17 out of 20. A team that has 2 sec titles in 28 years and 1 nat’l title all time and u think UGA is the premiere program in the country. Sorry but those bullsheet polls that 5thgenerationdawg came up with don’t count. Turns out UGA has some imaginary nat’l titles given to it by something called the litenhous poll. What the hell? The what poll? I guess they also have a couple of imaginary titles from the AJC also. You should stick with what the school itself says. You have one single nat’l title. You are still a 1 club member and your own school recognizes that. Deal with it you idiots and quite coming up with imaginary titles from the litenhous poll and other unnamed polls or publications in that bs link that 5htgenerationdawg posted from a biased georgia publication. You guys are a freaking joke. 2 weeks into the season you’ll see your dreams crushed and then it’ll be “wait till next year” once again. 28 years and counting since your one and only VERIFIABLE nat’l title.

heeldawg….. Its funny how you dawg fans want to blame youth last year on the offensive line for the loss to the lamecocks last year. Now the offensive line is still young this year but will be ready for the lamecocks. Ho hum same ole same ole. I remember a few years ago the dawgs traveled to Columbia with Quicny Carter and 5 INTs sent the dawgs home packing. Then the next year the would be ready for the lamecocks at Sanford Stadium, but the mutts didn’t even score a TD against the lamecocks …sounds all too familiar huh. Last year the dawgs cried and thought they deserved to play OSU for the NC but was leaped frogged by LSU which BTW won the SEC. So now the sport pundits have put UGA # 1 to prove a point. No, not because UGA deserves to be # 1 but to prove otherwise. They will prove that UGA doesn’t belong there after they will lose 4 games this year and to shut up all the cry baby dawg fans. Seems to me UGA has more than their fair share of injuries due to lack of physical abilities and poor technique. Uga recuits the overweight irish potato kids with tooth pick legs. UGa needs to go up north and get some corn fed white boys on that offensive line. A lot of the recriuts just arent panning out for CMR. UGA needs to really bulk up and fire their weight traing coach.

Munson…. It takes an idiot to know an idiot. The Uga contingent and the University President have been appeased with this ranking because of their crying from Dawg Nation last year. There is an underlying motive here to prove that UGA doesn’t really belong. READ BETWEEN THE LINES. The sport pundits need to stir the pot to prove that UGA doesn’t belong. Just like you’re an idiot to believe UGA is #1. BWAH BWAH

Dawg fans should enjoy it while they can. It’s rare for a team that’s #1 in the preseason polls to remain on top throughout the entire season. The only way they can stay #1 is to go undefeated, which seems highly unlikely given their tough schedule. They might be a great team in theory, but they actually have to prove it on the field. One lackluster game like South Carolina last year and they can kiss the Crystal Trophy goodbye.

Gamecock Hank, yet another “we should have won” post from a gamecluck fan. Coulda shoulda woulda. And if my Aunt had a pecker she’d be my Uncle. Last year we had several receivers drop passes, two of which were in the end zone, so I guess we “shoulda” won that game. What’s holding back your mighty team? You possess the self-annointed “greatest” game day coach in the biz, and you brag about your great recruiting classes. Just what is is that allows you to lose your last 6 games of the season? What is it that prevents you from stepping up to the big time? You have a pitiful tradition. In fact, you have NO tradition. Go talk some trash on a Clemson post. Oh, that’s right, they own you as well. U R A Loser!

Hey Cockbag, writing quit instead of quite was just a typo, even u should have been able to figure that one out since my spelling otherwise has been perfect.
As for UGA 2003 u are correct. USC has won 2 titles only in the last 5 years and not 4 years. If that’s all u want to quibble about is a one year difference then have at it. U obviously miss the bigger point which is that they have won 2 very recent titles versus a UGA program that has won one title which was 28 years ago. Please get some freaking perspective and try to understand the big picture. And while they did lose to Texas in the 05 title game it was their 3rd straight year playing for a nat’l title. Technically it was Jan. 06 but it was for the 05 season so you might want to check yourself there mate. USC earned a split with the AP poll which to me is legit. After all, isn’t it the ap poll that has UGA no. 1 preseason or is that illegit? Just curious to see if you are consistent in your b.s.
Or we could do as your idiot 5th generation dawg does and go by the Litvenhous poll which awarded Georgia nat’l titles after losing their bowl games. Still trying to figure out what the hell poll that was! As far as you can see your program which is the premiere program in college football hasn’t even played in a title game in 28 years much less win one.
As a matter of fact for all your trash talking last year about being the best team you couldn’t even win your division to play in a conference title game, much less a nat’l title game. Btw, I’m a Vol fan. You know the vols. The team that has thrashed you 2 years in a row and hung 51 on you in your own house the last time we came to crapens. Oh, did I mention that we own your arses in the head to head dept. also. Did I mention that we have more national titles, more conference titles, more overall wins than you. Can’t wait to come hang another 51 or more on your arses again this year.

Gamecock Henry, what are Spurrier’s stats at SC? Any SEC championships, National Championships, contention for National Championships? Face it, SC has consistently been in the bottom tier of the SEC. Always has been, always will be. He was a great coach at Florida but now he can’t measure up to Richt, Saban, Meyer or Tuberville. SC cannot recruit the players that UGA, Auburn or Florida can. SOS is washed up.

Did I miss something? Did the dawgs already win the 2008 title? Or is that just preseason? Oh. That’s right. Its just preseason. I forgot that the only poll that counts is the one that comes out sometime in early January 2009. Silly me! I will admit to you dawg fans though that I was a little disappointed last year. I’m still ticked that Fulmer pulled eased up on the beatdown after the game had already been decided in the 1st half. What was it 35-7? No. I forgot he let you score a consolation td against our reserves to close it to 35-14. Did we score all 35 in the first half and then just coast or was it only 28 that we scored in the first. I forget because the game was such a brutal beatdown that everybody lost interest pretty quickly. I expected the pups to put up at least some bark rather than a whimper. We’re gonna beat u like we always do. Beat u like a bad dawg! We’re just starting another streak like the one in the 90s where we spanked you 9 in a row. How do you lose to someone 9 in a row or 17 out of 20 like you’ve lost to Florida? How does one explain such abject futility over such a long period of time. At least we’ve won a nat’l title in the last 10 years. What is it? 28 and counting. After we lay the wood down on you it will be 29 and counting. Good ole rockty top!

The Dawgs will blow south carolina off the field. They’ll be terrible again and miss a bowl. Spurrier doesn’t have it anymore. I hope Richt lays half a hundred on the arrogant spurrier. The dawgs will likely go 13-1 and win the national title easily in miami over ohio state, who will choke as usual. No team in the U.S. can match up talent wise with Georgia this year. Get used to it SEC fans—UGA will rule the conference for years to come with Mark Richt, easily the best coach in the SEC.

Fools Gold:
Don’t know why you cited me on this one—you mentioned that we Dawg fans blamed last year’s loss to the Gamecocks on the OL. I didn’t say that. I was responding to a post which said that our OL was going to be a problem this year and simply said that the OL did fine last year down the stretch.
I blame last year’s loss to the Gamecocks on our own overconfidence and inexperience. We came out of the Oklahoma State game thinking we were all that and a bag of chips and were flat for the SEC opener. We were misfiring on all cylinders. By the time we started to wake up, it was too late. Now, our OL was inexperienced early last year, and there wasn’t much depth. We did lose a couple of offensive linemen off of last year’s team, but the overall experience level is better, and the depth is better. I can guarantee that the team will not be flat going into Columbia. That’s the biggest difference between this season and last season. The Dawgs will show up ready to play. And it won’t make any difference what Spurrier has planned or what tricks he has up his dirty little sleeve, because the game won’t be close enough for that sort of thing to matter.
And if you think Georgia will lose four games this year, let’s bet on it. I’ve got $50,000 that says you’re wrong, and that the Dawgs lose less than four games. Care to take that bet?
Didn’t think so.

And I’m sure Georgia could lay half a hundred on our Lamecocks if he had a quarterback who had better stats against us than Mattie Stafford:
0-1 as a starter 4 INTs 0 TDs 44% completion rate
Yeah, Cheech (or is it Chong?)…You’ve got to be able to score points to hang half a hundred and with Richt averaging one TD per game on offense against the Gamecocks and being shut out of the endzone 3 of 7 times, you’re asking a bit much from your Free Shoes U disciple…

To all Tennessee Vols fans posting on this blog:
Your teams sucks. Yeah you kicked our a* this past year ( a game that you had 2 WEEKS to prepare for!) as well as 2006 when we had Joe FREAKIN TERESHENKI at Qb. But your team got annihalated by Florida 59-20 and by a 6-6 Alabama team 41-17! Your team needed last second wins over South Carolina, Vanderbuilt, and Kentucky to even get into the title game. Your team has won ZERO SEC championships in this decade, and Richt still owns ya’ll 4-3 since he’s been there. Oh yeah, and look for him to add to that total this season since the Dawgs have 2 weeks to get ready for the Vols.

I love when the Goats bring up the all-time record though. It’s their last great fallback. They love to use it against Flordia too…It’s just about all they’ve had since 1990.
What the Goats forget to mention about their all-time record against the “Lamecocks” is that 33 of the 44 Goat wins were over the course of 80 years. Since 1988, they are just 11-7 against the “Lamecocks”. If I was a fan of program like Georgia’s I wouldn’t be resting on the laurels of yesterday…I’d be wondering why Tennessee and Florida are 29-3 against the “Lamecocks” and Georgia is just 11-7.

A tough schedule but LSU set a precedent last season that an SEC Team that wins the conference title can lose two games in a tough schedule and still play for the National Championship.

The Dawgs will own the SEC this year. UGA’s offense is probably the best in the nation, and definitely tops in the SEC. Moreno and Stafford—-best QB and best RB in the conference. Tebow can’t pass and will get hurt again running the ball all the time, since UF’s RBs suck. Plus, Harvin’s hurt again, so look for florida to lose 4 games again. Their defense is terrible too, like last year. The only school close to UGA in talent in the SEC is LSU, and the Dawgs should beat them by 10-13 the week before blowing out Florida. At most, UGA loses 1 game, but still wins the national title easily. South carolina? Are you serious? They’ll be lucky to make a minor bowl.
