Without Sturdivant, is UGA still No. 1?

Top-ranked Georgia suffered its first huge loss of the preseason Monday, when starting left tackle Trinton Sturdivant went down with a serious knee injury, possibly ending the sophomore’s season.

AJC.com’s Chip Towers wrote: With Sturdivant out, redshirt sophomore Josh Davis took the snaps with No. 1 unit. Richt said the Bulldogs could also turn to left guard Vince Vance, right guards Clint Boling or Cordy Glenn, and may consider moving over Kiante Tripp from right tackle.

This is obviously a huge blow for the Dogs. The Associated Press poll comes out Saturday. With the injury to Sturdivant, would you still vote UGA No. 1? If not, who gets your vote as the nation’s top team?

Vick to return to pro football in ‘09?

In his Monday Morning quarterback entry, Peter King of SI.com explored the possibility of imprisoned Falcons QB Michael Vick returning to football in 2009 - in the United Football League.

Michael Huyghue, commissioner of the United Football League, told King the chances of a UFL team signing Michael Vick to play the ‘09 season are ‘98 percent.’

“Michael’s not going to be able to walk right back into the NFL,” Huyghue said to King. “He’s going to need some kind of buffer before he signs in the NFL, and we’ll be able to provide that for him.”

So, what are your thoughts on Vick returning in 2009 - to the NFL or UFL? Let us know what you think.
