Will Chipper reach milestone today?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Chipper Jones is only one home run away from becoming the 43rd player in Major League Baseball history with at least 400 career home runs.
Will Chipper reach the milestone today as the Braves host the Marlins at Turner Field? Chipper hit home run No. 399 Tuesday in the win over Florida, extending his mark as the all-time home run leader as an Atlanta Brave (see photos).
So, what do you think? Will Chipper reach the milestone today or sometime during the current homestand, which ends Sunday against the Phillies.
Let us know what you think. Also, check out the most recent blogs by David O’Brien and Chop Chick as well as complete Atlanta Braves coverage.

I hated it when they put in a special ball when Griffey was approaching 600 in Cinc.Let’s just play the game play of baseball without the hype, that said I hope Chipper hits a ton more of homers in his creer. Go Braves!

Did anybody see what Charlie Morton did yesterday. He went 8 IP 1H 1BB and 13K. I think he threw 120 some pitches and this outing extends his scoreless hitting streak to 15 innings and he has allowed one run or fewer in 5 of his last 7 starts. This lowers his era to 1.70. Its amazing that this guy was virtually unknown until this year when Bobby Cox watched him play. Good find by Bobby. Anyone think he will be in the majors soon?

What’s the point of these anonoblogs? Is the DOB/MIB blog not an adequate forum?

* I just heard Smoltz is going to require season ending shoulder surgery.* Does this mean he will come back next year?

So the question is will Chipper reach the milestone today? If he hits a homerun then yes, I’m pretty sure he reaches the milestone of 400. If he doesn’t hit a homerun then I bet he does not reach the milestone. Just going out on a limb there….
What a dumb question.

Smoltz is out for the season and will have surgery. Who knows what will happen. I have a feeling, knowing his determination, that he’ll try it one more time. More important: solidifying the bullpen and clutch hitting. The last two games notwithstanding, this is a near .500 club that cannot win on the road. But, it’s a long season, and we all know that it’s about hanging in during the year and getting hot at the end. I’ll be at the game today cheering on the Bravos.

Kyle, Do you really think Morton was discovered by Bobby Cox?? His success is due to the years that the player development staff has put in, and the fact that the kid has a lot of talent..
