Are Braves back on track?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Jo-Jo Reyes allowed just one earned run in 5 1/3 innings and the Braves beat the Reds for the second night in a row Saturday.
The Braves scored nine runs and pounded out 15 hits.
Is the offense starting to come around?
What did you think of Reyes’ performance? Was it encouraging or just another example of his up-and-down performances?

Great performance…Braves definitely needs this on a consistent basis from Reyes which could improve the rotation dramatically.

good to see Jojo do well, he could be our future #2 or 3 starter. He has that type of stuff supposedly. But he needs to start being consistent now. We need pitching badlyas the way this year has gone.

I was impressed, but I’ll be much more impressed if he can put together another quality start in five days. I would also like to see at least six innings in his next start. Regardless, he did an outstanding job tonight

Jo-Jo looked good through the fourth inning. He started missing his spots in the fifth but made it out of the inning. Then in the sixth he was clearly out of gas and missing with his pitches.Bobby was quick with the hook and rightly so.No need to shake his confidence after he pitched so well.He got the win and that will bod well in his future. Its good to see a young pitcher come up and throw well.He looks like he has improved since last year. The Braves need him and Chuck James to carry some of the load now.

Sounds good but I really don’t know since TBS has become another Yankee/Red Sox affiliate broadcasting almost only AL East game just like ESPN. Did someone forget that their is about 240 million people who don’t live in Boston/New York.
Please replace TBS on my satellite with ESPN classic at least then I will occasionally see a Braves game.

Great outcome of the game. Jo-Jo and Jair are the future of our pitching staff.
I agree with Steve. All I get to see of the Braves anymore is what they show on Sportcenter, and the Braves games are ALWAYS in the last 15 minuts of the show.

I thought Reyes was exceptionally good early on, he worked quickly and had great control and actually threw a lot harder than I remembered him throwing, 94-95 on occassions. Just read the article about Chipper, great article I can’t BELIEVE he isn’t even in the top 50 in yearly salary. I think us fans should start a grass roots movement to petition the Braves to raise his salary to a more appropriate level. Not that 12 million a year is chump change, just way under valued!

I feel the pain, but I just got PTree TV and SportSouth on my cable system, so I won’t be complaining anymore. Unless TBS has the Braves and it gets blacked out again.

Watch for Bobby Cox to “reward” Jo-Jo Reyes by sending him back to Richmond AGAIN!

Just pay MLB video $119 for the premium package and watch Peachtree, Sports South, Turner South, and all the other RSN’s. Also, when the Braves are on the road, its usually the other teams announcers. (Which I like, because cheer leading gets old quick when its guys doing it.)

You guys sure like to complain. Like Jeff321 said, pay $119 and get MLB.com to broadcast to your computer. Do you REALLY want to see the Braves play or not? If so, then splurge a little!
About Jo Jo Reyes… I think he had a good game, but as all Braves fans have been saying, we need durability and consistency. Let’s see more than 5 innings and let’s see him have a good game more than once. Certainly the potential is there. Hopefully we get another Jurrjens. One other note… Can we stop with throwing out 6 pitchers per game? Who ever started this ridiculous fad? I really don’t get it. It seems to me that all it does is increase the chances the other team will find a pitcher to their liking. Then when you burn 2-3 pitchers in one inning trying to get out of that jam, you get stuck throwing out your worst pitcher if the game goes into extra innings and he has to pitch until the game ends. Why not CONSERVE your pitchers instead of burning them all every game??? What happened to “long” relief!

I thought Jojo did well. Unlike many people who are complaining about Bobby’s overmanaging in the 6th, I liked the moves. Jojo was out of gas so he had to be replaced. Bennett did his job (though I suppose a DP would have been even better). With two runners in scoring position, Bobby brought in the lefty to face their lefty. It was a key situation in the game.
Since Bennett is now the de facto 5th starter but can be used in relief, the Braves essentially had an extra pitcher in the bullpen. Bobby made good use of the extra arm. Had the Reds tied the game, Bobby still had Campillo and Carlyle who can easily go multiple innings. Plus, with an off day on last Thursday, Huddy’s complete game on Friday, and an off day on Monday, it isn’t like the bullpen needs a breather. Some guys even need work — e.g., it was good to get Resop in a game since he hadn’t pitched in several days.

Anyone know why Yunel was a late scratch?

The problem with paying the cash for MLB TV isn’t that we won’t do it, it’s that many of us are blacked out. MLB TV considers most of the state to be “Local territory” for Atlanta, so we get blacked out for most home games - even if we live 6 hours from Turner Field. There’s just inconsistency in how parts of the state are classified. MLB considers us to be close enough to count in Atlanta’s local market, but we are far enough away we don’t get the ATL tv stations nor is it feasible to go to many games.
So we pay $119 to not watch the home games….no thanks.

Fair enough, Chris.
Just heard Yunel was scratched for flu like symptoms.. Btw, Ron Gant is on the broadcast because Joe Simpson had an emergency appendectomy.
