The Hawks lack of maturity seems to manifest itself in how the crowd atmosphere has affected them so far.

When they’re at home, with a rabid, pro-Hawks crowd, they get excited, get the adrenaline flowing, and they can beat the world.

But facing a tough road crowd, they seem to be unable to get that emotion and adrenaline going.

To STAY at the next level, the Hawks will need to learn to play at that next level without requiring a huge emotional and adrenaline boost from the crowd.

This series will go 7; Hawks roll tonite.

The Hawks are a very talented team and they need a talented coach who can take them to the next level. We need a coach with a professional history that our young team can respect. Woodson does not rotate the bench properly. They are all being paid and talented. You have all kinds of instant offense on the bench. The league is about matchups and that is obviously something our coach does not understand.

I think the only chance that the hawks have of winning tonight would be if they scored more points at the very end of the game than Boston did. Say Boston scored 89 points by the end of the game, then the hawks would at the very least have to score 90 points by the end of the game in order to win. I had to explain that in detail since basketball fans are notoriously stupid.

Shut up…all of yous….you wanna be big time trailer park living idiots!!!! Yeah, your real estate pricing points are nice but you’re still a small time market. Why would I want to work in GA???? To BostonsTopShotta, yeah u might earn more money in Boston then spend 3/4 of it living in a place the size of a cardboard box so good for you. I went to college in Boston so I know. By the way, dont even include Boston in big time markets cuz in the future Atlanta will be larger. Typical Bostonian, tryin to equate Boston to big cities like NYC, Chicago, and LA when in reality Boston is on the same tier as Atlanta. By the way, I can easily see everything Boston has to offer in one day takin the T so I really dont see what’s so big about it. It’s the people of Boston like you why everyone gets the hell out of Boston after college.

Sorry but you Hawks Fans have to faces fact now. The NBA and your joke of owners asked us to throw games 3 and 4 and we did (Come on did you really think that 1/2 @$$ effort was for real?). Why did they ask us to do that, to put people in the seats from Atlanta! It is sad when your owners cannot even give away tickets, that your news has to lie about the ratio of us to you. I am sorry but at games 2 and 3 we out numbered you 4 to 1, and the only reason Philips Rocked was due to us. I have been to a few non - Celtics v. Hawks games here and you all sit on your hands and are as quiet as mice.

Sorry you can pretend to contend but when the pot smoke hip-hop crap crashes back to reality the Hawks season is OVER!!

I just love how some people can talk so big behind a computer screen. I really think it is funny.

However; Hawks fans (me included) we have to realize we have a young team, that really is missing a few key componets. The first one being a true big man that can grab rebounds. Al is great, but to ask him to do a NBA center’s job is too much. Mike Bibby is an above average point guard. We could use a better shooting guard. The forward position seems to be what the Hawks are best at. As a run in the playoffs, maybe next year. Patients fans, patients. Not every team can buy their championship. The Celtics should be the team that moves on. I however; don’t foresee them in the NBA championship. They lack the proper leadership to win. That team is full of talented thugs. But streetball teams always seem to get beat against a team that can play together.

The Hawks won’t win, but it was darn good to see them win against the odds and make Boston look bad. I hope the team builds from this experience and aims higher next season. Also hope the fans see what their team can do with proper support. Philips Arena was LOUD.

Let’s be real. We know the Celtic players will be ready for tonight. They’ll double up on their fiber, eat plenty of prunes, Paul Pierce will practice bouncing his free throws off the front of the rim, and I heard Garnett has been practicing running from Zaza in the mirror all day today HAHAHA! Your team is old and they live off of jump shots. The Hawks are young and get points in the paint. You are a FANTASTIC jump shooting team, but really…REALLY…do you think it will last you the rest of the playoffs? Personally, i’m betting it won’t last the rest of this series. Boston fans know exactly what will happen if the refs start calling the fouls again. You beat us good games 1 & 2, no doubt. We were tentative. But it’s been a series ever since game 3 when we cut it loose and started driving the basketball. I thought game 5 would have been closer if some of the calls went our way in the paint, but they didn’t that night and hey that’s basketball. But things have a way of balancing out, and deep down, in your little green clover gut you know that too, don’t you? AND You know this, man! We’re gonna be on you like Dee-bo on Red fool!
“What you got on my series homey?” Celts - ‘Nun.’ “OH I know you got something.” Celts crying- ‘My granmama Red gave me that championship!” “What Championship?” “THAT’S MY CHAMPIONSHIP PUNK!”

Celtics, get ready to get knocked the _ out.

Off the subject…but the grammar in these blogs really does not reflect well on Atlanta.

Anyone looking at these posts can readily see why GA is ranked what - 48th of 50 - in most academic scoring systems.

Most elementary school grads from states with good schools perform better on these exams than your average Georgia high school grad.

Come on people. Act like you have an education - by using it.

Sorry for my fellow bostonians acting like morons. Anybody talking about somebody from Atlanta as a “bumpkin” has obviously never been. Great city with great suburbs. Look, we take pro sports a little seriously up here. We’re the opposite of bandwagon fans. The Celts were selling out games last year (not many, but some) while playing for the worst record in the NBA. Things have been good for us lately (sox, pats, celts), so we’ve gotten a little cocky. We just have some knuckleheads living in their mother’s basements who blog on other city’s websites. Please don’t hold it against us.

By Boston Trans.

I have live in Atlanta for 6 years now, and I have never seen so many band wagon jumpers and fair weather fans from the Braves to the Thrashers. For any game at Philips the arena is half empty, you guys cannot give away the tickets!!! For the Braves I can walk to the ticket window and still get great tickets (try that with the Sox). The only teams that you all do not give up on or show any passion is the lame @$$ College football system.

As for a better placed to live? You may be right Atlanta MAY have a brighter future as a city.. if the DOT can figure out how to get the traffice under control, but only time will tell. But cities are not graded on the future they are grade on the Past and Present and Boston hands down kicks the ATL out of the water.

The problem with Atlanta fans are they are 1 of 2 things. 1 they are arm chair want-a-be who know nothing about the sport they are cheering for but want to act tough. Or they are a group that feels they need to defend the city not the team. I would say at least 80% of the “Atlanta” Fans have not been to a game, but want to see another Northern team fail, if not simply a Boston team.

Face facts we can talk smack and back it up while you all just talk…

BILLYGOAT KNIGHT AND WOODY WOODPECKER WOODSEN ARE BOTH ON THE HOT SEAT. IN FACT, IT IS SO HOT FOR THEM RIGHT NOW THAT IF THEY DONT WIN TONIGHTS GAME THE HAWKS SEASON WILL GO UP IN FLAMES. If the Hawks are trailing the Celtics at halftime of tonights game my advice for them is to just come out of the tunnel and up from the ashes of halftime and play the game knowing that you will be playing to save the backsides of your coach and ultimately your GM. I believe that THIS game in Atlanta tonight against Boston and Sundays game 7 in Boston if it goes that far represent the only two chances for Billygoat Knight and Woody Woodpecker Woodsen to keep their respective jobs. Either way ONE of them will have to go since neither of them are speaking to one another. If the heavily favored Celtics acquiesce and lose to Hawks, which they will, then Woodsens job will be good probably only for another playoff series. MY OPINION IS THAT THE ONLY WAY FOR WOODSEN AND KNIGHT TO KEEP THEIR JOBS IS FOR THE HAWKS GET TO THE FINALS AND WIN IT, WHICH THEY WILL. Anything short of the NBA finals will result in pink slips for both clowns, Woodsen and Knight. That being said, good luck to the Hawks tonight as they overwhelm the Celtics on their home court. WITHOUT BIBBY THE HAWKS WOULD STILL BE A DOORMAT OF THE NBA SO BE GRATEFUL FOR HAVING MIKE BIBBY AROUND WHERE HE CAN WORK HIS MAGIC ON THE HAWKS TEAM. Not really MonaLisa, Bibby’s game got sour as soon as the playoffs started. Not that he wasn’t central to the Hawks winning and getting to the playoffs, but his game has gone the way of the Dodo. Marvin needs to step up. If he can go out and shoot the ball , the Hawks will be ok. He has had a terrible post season so for and this game is right on target with him coming out and playing his game. Well what ever that is. Hawks will win at home and Woodson will realize that Bibby doesn’t play well on the road and start Acie in Boston with Bibby coming off the bench. Hawks in 7!!

I don’t understand the “bandwagon jumpers” argument. Check out: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/attendance

The Celtics sold out 100% of their home games this year. And they’ve sold out all of their home playoff games. Seems pretty consistent to me.

In contrast, Hawks sold out only 87% of their home games this year. And—look at that—now they’ve sold out for tonight’s game.

Hmmm. So tell me, who are the bandwagon jumpers now??? Bibby is an idiot.

I can’t deny that your Boston sports teams are on a role. Nor can I deny that you are most certainly gonna move on from this series. My Hawks have exceeded my expectations and I’m proud of them for taking it this far. If we can get a real coach and GM in here, the future looks bright. We have exposed your weaknesses and hindered your chances of winning it all this year. If we get one more tonight I will be happy. We’re the 8 seed, you clowns. You should have already throttled us. BTW, I’ve been to your town. And there’s one reason in particular that our town crushes your town. It’s simple: women. Boston women are hideous. No wonder your fans are so rabid about sports. It would be nice if we had passionate fans out here in LA that shows up before the 2nd quarter but oh well.

Expecting the crowd at Phillips to be loud tonight. Between Josh Smith, Horford, and Joe Johnson (bet the Suns wish they had him back) you Hawks fans have some players to be proud of….

Oh boy! The refs did it to us (Hawks whiners). Do they follow basketball in Atlanta or just come out for a night or two of ignorant screeching? Fouls shot…Game 5: Hawks 28, Celts 25; Game 4: Hawks 33 Celts 19 (Budgies win by a whopping 5 points!) Game 3: Hawks 27 Celts 25 (another whopping win, 9 points) Game 2: Hawks 40 Celts 26 (and the Canaries lose by 19 despite the gross advantage.) Game 1: Hawks 28 Celts 24. Tot it up, birdies. You have had a 156 to 118 shot advantage and an advantage in EVERY GAME. So who might be more justified in blaming the refs? We know but the classy teams and their fans don’t look for excuses. Old Geezers slam the kids again tonight! Hawks did indeed surprise and they are up and coming undoubtedly. Just ain’t gonna happen in 2008. Hope you Atlanta fans will show up next year and maybe a few of you might even try to fill Turner Field once in awhile instead of leaving it to fans of visiting teams. Sorry to say, the ATL ain’t much of a sports town.

Keep Woodson. Knight must go. Woodson has improved this team with mismatched talent. Check out Knights moves: Selecting Marvin and Shelden in the 2 and 5 spot respectively. Attempting to sign Dampier and Curry to large long term contracts. Both are awful. Signing bad knee/always injured Speedy. Bringing in Joe Johnson to start at the point (That was the reason he gave for passing over Paul and Deron) Finally bringing in Bibby and wanting to get rid of Woody at that time. (slimy) Ainge turned his team into a winner in one season. What has knight done his entire career? With the Grizzly’s that acheived a whooping 23 victories under his tenure. Then we bring him here. (lol) He will fall the way the previous Hawks GM’s have fallen to the abyss. Kasten nor Babcock was given the opportnity to destroy any other team and neither will Knight.

Rebecca,

Re other cities in Massachusetts. Undoubtedly you are as well read as most Georgia high school and college graduates, so one can forgive the ignorance of the question. Re sports, Rebecca, Springfield MA is the birthplace of (wait for it!) BASKETBALL and, oh yes, Volleyball. The little known city of Cambridge MA has a couple of obscure schools, the initals of which are MIT and HU. Worcester MA is thehe birthplace of the American Industrial Revolution. Inventions included extrusion of steel wire. They produced ‘barbed-wire fencing for you farmers. You might not realize that Georgia was one of the original 13 colonies (I’m referring to the United States, Rebecca) and the War began in Lexington MA and Concord MA. Perhaps on Halloween you might recall talk of witches? Try looking up Salem MA. If you’re fond of sand dunes and salty air, not the dedritus beaches of your coast, you might find a few cities and towns in old Cape Cod. In 2004, historian John Thorn discovered a reference to a 1791 by-law prohibiting anyone from playing “baseball” within 80 yards of the new meeting house in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. A librarian found the actual by-law in the Berkshire Athenaeum library, and its age was verified by researchers at the Williamstown Art Conservation Center. If authentic and if actually referring to a recognizable version of the modern game, the 1791 document, would be, as of 2004, the earliest known reference to the game in America. Please visit us in the Athens of America and the Hub of the Universe to discover your roots. Meanwhile have fun in Columbus, Macon and Valdosta.

Gotta back this as well: Sorry for my fellow Bostonians acting like morons. Anybody talking about somebody from Atlanta as a “bumpkin” has obviously never been.

All that said, I think you will find little solace in winning 2 games. A first round loss is a first round loss. Your team has future potential. Sort of reminds me of the young Bulls team recently. I hope it turns out better for you than them.

At the end of the day, don’t we all want the East to beat the West?

Sorry Hawks fans. The Celtics are ready to move on to the next series. Phillips Arena will be quiet 10 minutes into the game and only the real fans will be around until the end.

Come on Big Green Machine! Put the Hawks out of their misery.

The word “y’all” is definable. “Yous” must be some other language because it’s not even in the dictionary. It’s probably not even English.
