Hudson starting Cy Young season?

Tim Hudson pitched eight shutout innings as the Braves beat Washington 3-0 on Friday night.

What are your thoughts on the game and Hudson’s performance? Is Hudson starting a season that could result in him winning a Cy Young?

Who played well Friday and who didn’t?

How about Mark Kotsay’s play in center or Yunel Escobar’s skills at short?

Huddy pitched a gem. Great clutch hitting by Yunel and Matt. Moylan looking good again.

it was a good team effort..Im not sure why Hudson couldnt pitch the 9th for a shutout..but it worked out.Francoure has got to be more selective..I mean not just for himself but for the team.Kotsay looking like a really good deal…Is Chipper ok?

If Moylan throws his unhitable fastball and cuts out the cute stuff he is awesome. Throw it 100% of the time until someone shows they can hit it. He has only been beat with his number 2 or 3 pitches in my recollection. His fastball has so much movement and velocity I don’t see how anyone can hit it. McCann gets too cute with the releivers. They need to be more aggressive.

This is how Bobby Cox wins—Shutout pitching and the big hit! Otherwise, he hasn’t a clue how to influnence the outcome of a game and thus the 1-14 record in the last game (and series) of his post season career.

His only victory? Yes, a shutout by Tom Glavine in game 6 of the 1995 World Series and a homerun by David Justice.

Boring and predictable!

Good game. However, the Braves can not continue to score only one run in 7+ innings. That is why our pen and starting pitchers have not received a lot of run support. Can can you hope to win 1-0 against the Mets?

I like Matt Diaz but its time to bench him.. He seems completely lost at the plate and is reaching. Lets see what Blanco has to offer.

Jeff321, are you crazy? Diaz isn’t lost at the plate!?! Did you see his big hit at the end of the game? Those were important runs!

It is FAR too early to talk about CY Young. Let’s just concentrate on rising to the top of this jazzy mess we call the NL East.

RobJ99 - I agree. But, did you see his other at bats? Btw, Matt Diaz has scored one run this year.

I don’t think there’s any questions about our defense. They’ve done a good job, at times oustandingly. The starting rotation is really good at 1 through 3, but 4 and 5 are shaky at best. 97 wins may win it, but we could use some consistency. The bullpen is the Achilles heel, with the exception being Moylan. I don’t get the idea that the pen approaches their job with too little combativeness. Good relievers need to be agressive and, to put a fine point on it, nasty. But it IS too early to panic. Hang in there Braves. You’ll be fine.

Second week of season and already forecasting a Cy Young for Huddie. It’s not how you start…it’s how you finish. Seems like Kotsay is a good defensive fielder, and as long as he hits .220 he will be comparable to last year’s Andruw. The Braves always start slow, they are a warm weather team.

I love Mark Kotsay!! So far, picking him up in the off season ranks right up there with bringing Tommy back!! Cy Young?? Yes, Huddy is starting out that way - but more than that, I’ll give him major props on pulling himself out when he knew he had little gas left in the tank — a true team player!

oh, and I love the new alternate blue jersey - just wish they had them in ladies or kids sizes so I could get one!

The one thing I haven’t seen anyone discussed is Chipper’s apparent injury to the right quad muscle. This was probably the one down side to the game.

The key to this game was Kotsay’s catch. If that had gotten over his head, most likely a double then the next guy steps up and gets a single, probably the Nats score a run. My response when Kotsay caught that was Andruw Who?. KJ also had some good defensive plays then McCann guns down Kearns trying to steal 2B. So there were several guys keeping the Nats from getting guys to 2B.

Now if we can get this offensive rolling we would be fine. Frenchy, I agree, needs to be patient instead of swinging at everything. It seems he is trying to hard.

A very good game for the team;hopefully, they’ll go into this afternoon’s game with a little swagger.I,also, would like for the Braves to have a woman’s petite size in the new blue uni or any other Braves shirt.

When Chipper can’t run the bases without injury, then there’s something wrong with either Chipper or the training program?????

Chipper will be back, Soriano and Gonzalez will be back. Hampton might be back. Will Dave O’Brien be back? Something’s up!
