Larry, you have been a fixture in my life since the day I was born. I walked past you and your red blazer and cigar on Natchez Trace many years ago and didn’t blink an eye; the Dawgs lost and it was time to go home. I was heartbroken, you were, we all were. Get better and let us break some hearts in 2008. We love you, Larry.

Mr. Munson, I am terribly sorry to hear of your illness, but be assurred that if any person in the world-wide Dog Nation could do anything to speed your recovery, they would. I grew up in Savannah, and I was a Larry Munson fan before I was a Georgia Bulldog fan. And as luck would have it, UGA was my 5th university attended, and from where I earned my undergraduate degree. I now live in Tulsa, OK, but I’ll never forget growing up in GA and listening to Larry Munson on the radio. Thanks for all you’ve done, and all you will do, to lead those faithfull to one football team, to the next great game, and the next great season. My prayers are with you Sir, and please, get well soon. Brian Storz

I returned home in 1070 and have turned off the tv sound a listened to Larry until 1995 when i retired from DKPD and moved to Panama City Beach Fla. Oh how i have missed listening to Larry call the games since i retired. Thank y ou Larry for so MANY years of enjoyment. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time. When I watch the Georgia games, I always turn down whatever idiots are on the TV and turn up Larry Munson. You are a class act sir and a great steward of the University of Georgia. I just want to express the love and admiration held by all college football fans in the state and around the nation. I have friends from LSU who think you are the greatest. Mr. Munson, you are a true living legend. You’ve done so much for the University of Georgia through a period of brilliant service spanning more than four decades. As a sports broadcaster you have few peers. Many Tech people like me appreciate you not only for your professional skill in painting vivid pictures of on-field football action with your gravelly and thespian voice, but also for your loyalty to UGA since 1966! Let’s see — Lyndon Johnson was President that year and gasoline cost about $.35 per gallon. May you have God’s blessing for a rousing recovery here in 2008 and yet another season of drama behind the mic.

I will never forget bumping into Larry opening day of ‘86 prior to UGA routing Duke. I told him I went to Georgia Southern and he stopped and came back to tell me how exciting a team we had. (He did the TV play-by-play of the GSU vs N. Iowa game in our first championship season in 1985.) He was so warm, friendly and genuinely interested. There will never, ever be anyone even close to Larry Munson who will always be Mr. Bulldog to me.

Larry, you’re the reason I became to be the Dawg fan I am today. As a young boy in a dove field many years ago I began to listening to you’re play by play with my then transistor radio. It was the excitement in your voice and the picture you were painting that hooked me. Today thanks to you I am a season ticket holder. My wife and I both want to thank you for being there for all dawg fans. Get well soon and hope to hear you in Sanford stadiun at least for another season. Larry you have touch so many lives. Thanks again

Larry - I grew up with vivid memories of my father, a die-hard Georgia fan, listening to you on the radio. You WERE college football to me… the soundtrack of many, many happy memories as a child, a teenager, a young adult and now as someone in his mid-30s. Georgia football just would not be the same without you. God bless you and keep you, may you have a quick and healthy recovery, and may you once again grace the airwaves this fall when the Bulldogs hit the field. As Scott Howard’s introduction on gamedays says it all… you ARE the LEGENDARY voice of the Georgia Bulldogs. Take care, Larry… you are very, very loved by tens of thousands of people just like me. Go Dawgs!

You have been such a huge part of my life…I went to my first Georgia football game at 6 days old, and have been to countless games since. Right now I’m a sophomore at Cornell and there’s nothing I miss more about home than watching the game in the stadium and fighting with my brother over the radio so that we can listen to you. Hunker down, and get well soon. You are so loved by so many!
