Falcons will see Hall again

The Atlanta Falcons haven’t seen the last of cornerback DeAngelo Hall, who is expected to be traded to the Oakland Raiders in exchange for two draft picks by the end of the week.

Atlanta is scheduled to play at Oakland in the upcoming season.

How do you expect Hall - who was outspoken and often recalcitrant as a Falcon - to perform against his former team? Do you think he’ll do something demonstrative, like run onto the field brandishing a Michael Vick poster the way he did on the day the QB was sentenced to prison for his involvement with dogfighting?

Do you think the Falcons’ receivers will have a difficult or an easy time making receptions with Hall covering them? Or do you think Hall’s emotions will get the best of him and that he’ll play poorly?

On a side note: the Raiders already have a star cornerback, Nnamdi Asomugha , who wears jersey No. 21. Do you think it will sit well with Hall to have to wear another number this far into his Pro Bowl career?

Sound off here.

That should be easy. Go back to the Panther film last year and see what Smith did to get under Hall’s skin. Whenever Hall gets all geeked up - he is prone to being goaded into playing like a high schooler. Mind games against those that are lacking are always the best plan of attack!

Hall will play poorly/sloppily the whole game. I hope one of the ATL WR is smart enough to talk just a little, get in his head, that’d probably give us 30-45yrds in personal foul penalties he’d commit (ask Steve Smith what to say).

I think Hall will be a non factor, especially since we probably won’t have much of a passing game at first anyway. Will he run his mouth? Undoubtedly. That thing about the jersey number will probably be the first step in dissolving the locker room there. Enjoy your new toy, Al!

How can the Falcons play the same AFC division in back to back years? I thought they played a different AFC division each year.

Regardless, Atlanta is a running team in the traditional sense now, and not based on some gimmick offense. He won’t be much of a factor because the ball won’t be thrown his way.

he’ll probably run out flipping the fans the bird like the other ‘superstar’ did. then go on to get burned by roddy and look at the rest of the secondary like its their fault, maybe turner can break free and either knock him out or outrun him with both shoes off.

I kinda doubt the birds will bother to throw much against uncle Al’s wonder kids. Still MeAngelo needs to be careful as he could easily wind up a spat on the Burners helmet.

If Joey Harrington is still the starting QB, I fully expect Hall to return a pick for a TD and do a 5 minute long celebration dance and get ejected.

De Hall needs to grow up. Maybe this is what he needs to do so. Wearing Black will fit his personna for now. I just hope he finds himself before it is too late. If not, he will become a headline in a drive by shooting or something like that. He has some physical talent but, his mouth can ruin his chance in life just like Mike Vicks lies etc. has ruined his reputation for a long, long time. As far as the game…We have faced a lot better players than him. I think, if we throw his way, we can take advantage of him. He is just no Dieon Sanders.

Orlando, if I’m not mistaken we played the AFC South last year (I think there was a Thanksgiving game against Indianapolis). The last time we played the AFC West was the year we made the NFC title game — the year we beat the Chargers at home and lost at Kansas City 56-10.

Deangelo Hall is a good corner -problem is he is’nt as good as he thinks he is. Chad johnson and Steve Smith did him in last year -I for one am glad he is gone -the draft picks will help us alot and its a different time here out with the old and in with the new. Can we please get rid of all those o lineman from the Vick era….. too light in the azz…. cant wait for the draft

I would love to see the Falcons set a blind-side pick for the jerk the first snap and put him in a MORE vegitative state.

The same thing that another loud mouth cornerbact that was sent to a team in the bay area.. A pick 6 dance in the end zone.. Falcon fans are the stupidest in the NFL and the fact that the organization is just as incompetent is a marriage made for each other.

Just a thought, but I remember a few years ago Andre Rison was having a war of words with his one time buddy Dion Sanders. The long and short of it was Neon Dion came to town and pretty much ate Andre’s lunch. I would’nt worry too much about that happening again though. DeAngelo’s not Dion he just thinks he is.

I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY PEOPLE GET IN THIS BLOG AND RIDICULE THE FANS AND ORGANIZATION FOR THIS MOVE. IT’S OBVIOUS THEY CAN’T SEE THE FOREST FOR THE TREES. THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE FANS OR THE ORGANIZATION. D. HALL SAID HE WANTED TO BE TRADED AND THAT EITHER HE BE TRADED OR HE WOULD SIT OUT AT LEAST THE FIRST 10 GAMES. GOOD LUCK

Do you believe the idiot Raiders fan who left a comment. Hey guy, didn’t you win 4 games also? The Falcons did it with our best player in jail and no coach, what is your excuse? The fact is that Al Davis is senile and the Raiders will stink as long as his is allowed to make decisions. Let’s face it, Oakland is where good players go to die. I hope that “The Burner” meets D. Hall head on and breaks him in half!

I’m glad someone agrees with me that he play too far off his man. We could 5 yard him to death down the field and our receiver would never get touched for he does not like to tackle. Maybe he thinks he’s too handsome to get hit.

Through the miracle of Tivo, I’ve watched Hall closely the past two seasons.

One thing is abundantly clear: his panties get tightly bunched when a ball-carrier comes his way.

Watch and see - his favorite strategy is to hang back or back-pedal until a couple of team-mates have the back engaged, then he comes in for the spearing pile-on.

When one-on-one is unavoidable, he either makes an inept attempt to tackle the ankles, or grabs for the shoulder pads like a sissy.

That’s why I would have cut him outright if a trade couldn’t be made. He’s fast, but he ain’t no football player.

cool, the ajc is now removing user comments, a new low, even for the ajc. The one I am referring to was only commenting on why TM never takes anyone to task if they are black but jumps all over white management.

Maybe Roddy White can spit in his face on his way past him to the end zone, just for old time’s sake. Meangelo is an even bigger fool than I thought. He said he couldnn’t go through another losing seasons with the Falcons, yet he’s happy to join the Raiders. Good judgement, Meangelo, just like when you committed all those personal fouls ‘cause you got burnt.

By TheJama

Just like Jim Rome called it today. “How ironic that MeAngelo is going to a team that loves to throw the deep ball and is now signing a corner that loves to give up the deep ball!!!” CLASSIC.

Anyway, he will be good for at least his 1 personal foul to start each game but I suspect that he will at least 2 against the Falcons. Regardless of the outcome, I hope somebody on the Falcons gets a clean shot at him. I doubt Turner will get that chance because MeAngelo’s idea of tackling is diving at the ball carriers ankles. What a wuss!!

On a side note, with him playing in the AFC and on the West Coast we won’t see him on TV very much. Another brilliant move by the young punk. I’m not sure if his ego will be able to take it.

Raiders are going to the SUPERBOWL now as soon as they draft Darren McFadden and the Falcons will suckk like they ALWAYS have. Oh yeah and Mike Vick will join DHall in Oakland when he gets out of prison. Go Falcons

HEY ROD—— you are probably right but at least he won’t be coming back here.Falcons will suck for years to come.I hope they draft the right people and then build a new stadium in hall county so we will feel safe going to the games.

To address the question: I don’t know if right now the Falcons have a receiver who can beat Hall the way so many good receivers on other teams beat him last year. But I think I do know that I wouldn’t line Roddy up opposite him. Hall will get inside Roddy’s head. Roddy might be up to the match- up physically, but he isn’t up to it psychologically. I might go out on a limb here and suggest that if Finneran is healthy and makes the team, he might give Hall a rough time. At least on come-backs, curls, etc.

**In 57 games, he has something like 17 INT’s, 48 passes defensed and around 230 tackles. You guys just might miss production like that. It also hurts because Hall is a young guy. The Raiders with Hall, Asomugha, Huff and Wilson now have a pretty damn good secondary.

Plus they have the 4th pick in the draft and could possibly help their D-Line with either Long, Dorsey, Gholston or Ellis. It could be scary.**

the number thing is nothing.. heres are the facts : oakland will trade fabian for an extra pick, and will have the NFL’s best pass defense.. and if Wilson steps up Oakland will have a top 10 run stop defense.. as long they keep adding on electricity to the offense.. i’ll tell you the sky will be the limit.. Darren McFadden sign on the dotted line !!!!Go Raiders!!!!

In my opinion, though he is not my favorite, he has A LOT of talent. And despite their improvement, I do not see our wide receivers getting great seperation. MeAngelo should have a good day. Here is what I hope happens…. We establish the run. If we do that, he has a tendency to peak in the backfield. He likes to make the big hit on the RB. If we can catch him peaking, we can get behind him and maybe take advantage….. If we have a QB that can go deep. LOL.

I personally am glad to see the cry baby go, if you don’t like to lose then you should have help the team to win, instead, he piled up penalties when they hurt the most.

He brought up a sore spot with vick, we already know his opinion on that subject, he knew that that was going to hurt the teams morale, but he didn’t care. He belongs in Oakland, the last I checked they sux’d too. So good, he was a cancer and hurt this team real bad. see ya!! Can’t wait until we meet in a game, then you will see our mediocre recievers prove my point!!

Look face it Meangelo already said he would sit out if not given a new contract. Falcons could not let this happen.Players cannot dictate to Ownership. No denying he made the Pro- Bowl twice, however we all know there are people in the Pro-Bowl who do not belong there. There were not many games that Meangelo didn’t get beat at least once. I think he thinks he is better than he really is.It was a slap in the face to the organization and to the fans when he came on the field with the Michael Vick poster. To ask that someone be freed when they have admitted guilt is crazy.Rumor has it here in ATL that he was also involved in dog fighting.Personally I’m glad he is gone and hopefully we can get a good team player that we get with the pics we traded for. Not wishing any harm, good luck Meangelo you have really gone to the team that deserves you, and you deserve them.

If we should trade Hall for anybody it should be for Chad Johnson. He wants out of Bengal land and DeAngelo wants out of here. DONE DEAL! Redman or Harrington throwing to Johnson and White would be an unstoppable FORCE!

By Dan Moore

DeAngelo’s a good player, but not great. It was time for him to go, there was just nothing positive that was going to come with him staying in ATL. He is going to have to develop some patience and PR skills b/c the Oakland situation isn’t much better and no winning organization will touch him until he does. Still, it will hurt not having him back there this season. When DeAngelo goes out there and just plays ball, he has shown signs of greatness. Yeah he’s gotten beaten by Smith, Owens,Johnson, and Ward( the 4 best receivers in the league!) but he also had shut them down as well. But when he gets all sidetracked by the BS, he’s terrible. It’s just a sign of immaturity. Maybe he’ll grow up one of these days.
