Southwest DeKalb 59, Westlake 39: END OF THIRD It seem as if Westlake got over the jitters first. Westlake has had a lot of turnovers and the top-ranked Panthers scored a lot of points in transition.

Derrick, don’t feel too bad. Our Tigers have been underrated all year. Congratulations to FCHS c/o 2008! You kids are making it a lot of fun to work at our school! As for your chat with Coach Flynn, thanks for mentioning one of the nicest guys and a fine basketball coach! Congratulations, Andre! Let’s hope the girls keep doing what they are doing.

Columbia 17, Westlake 4 END OF FIRST: Westlake went scoreless last six minutes of the first quarter. Columbia appears to be too physical.

FCHS Teacher I’ve known Flynn for a while, and he like most coaches in the state are nice. I don’t feel bad. Of the four teams that were left, I’ve known all the coaches for a while. I just enjoy covering high school basketball.

I hope Fayette County folks enjoyed themselves tonight, because I have a sneaking suspicion that the reality check will be cashed Friday. SW Dekalb just pummeled Westlake, and Madison County had more than its share of chances to beat Fayette in the final minutes. If fayette doesn;t bring its “A” game Friday, it’s over early. Shoot, even if the Tigers DO bring their “A” game, it may be over early.

Fayette boys looked solid in downing Miller Grove, but Columbia just toyed with Westlake after leading by 20 at the half and by 20 or more through most of the third quarter. The fourth quarter didn’t resemble a basketball game nearly so much as it resembled a cat toying with a half-killed mouse. Sorry, Tigers…..Columbia in a romp.

Hey guys, i just want to congradulate Westlake High school on one hell of a season. My names Christian and I go to Fayette County, and even though this may be against my ethics I’ve got to give it to those boys. I watched the first quarter of Columbia vs. Westlake and WHS just wasnt playing their game. Hey guys congrats on one hell of a season.

And now to Fayette, these guys have done everything but satisfy doubters all year, coming out on top. These boys fight and fight til’ there aint nothing left. Columbia has an AMAZING team, but this is the state finals and Fayette will bring their arsonal, I hate straight up making predictions but Fayette by 6. Noel will finish with ATLEAST 30-15. Lets get Brandon that ring he wants. lol.

Columbia is on the map and nobody can stop us. Fayette Co. had no chance. They have no experience at all about championship games and Columbia is a powerhouse. Travis ain’t gonna let anyone get in his way of winning a championship ring. Go ahead and try but u will get banged on

Utsportsfan2004 The games last night ran extremely late because the first game didn’t get over until 5:45 p.m. The Columbia-Westlake game didn’t get started to about 9:05 p.m. There is a chance, but nothing is for certain.

It’s early, but Paideia is playing R-C pretty well right now. They’re overplaying passing lanes on the perimeter and running the floor like crazy. They just finished up a 9-0 run gave them a 20-16 lead a little over halfway through the second qtr.

By ellaguru

March 6, 2008 5:31 PM | Link to this

Jeff, do you have an update on the Paideia game? Last I heard they were up 5 with 4 minutes left. The Lady Pythons are putting some defense on the state’s best. Dang.

By Bob

March 6, 2008 6:13 PM | Link to this

Pythons won 52-47 in OT. RC came back from a 6 point deficit to tie it with a final three, but OT was all Paideia.
