Mill Creek is in control, leading Berkmar by 11 at half. Porsha Porter has 12 points, six rebounds and four blocks for the top-ranked Hawks. Berkmar is not handling Mill Creek’s pressure well.

Final: Mill Creek 64, Berkmar 58

Berkmar got a huge second half from Tyra Smith to help the Patriots hang around. But Porsha Porter was too much.

Mill Creek will play the Marietta-Sprayberry winner at Mt. Zion High School on Friday.

Help me understand a few things. On the GHSA girls bracket that is posted in the AJC, the quarterfinals for Luella,Stephenson,Douglas, and Redan are held at Savannah State. However,in today’s edition under “pairings” you have them all playing in “The Forum” in Rome. This year has not been a good look for the GHSA or whomever has been responsible for communication on times and locations of games this post season.

All this talk about AAAAA, so i thought i’d add in some AAAA information. I have my two championship teams picked for many reasons. Fayette County on one side of the brackett. Now i know that their nine losses do not look all that intimidating, but keep in mind that three of those losses were to the number one team, two of them by 5 points. After losing to the number 1 team in the region chamionship, this team has played with a vengence, taking out everyone in their path. Noel Johnson the nationally ranked junior has really stepped up his game along with Cuincy corruthers, Brandon Boykin, Terrance Turner, and junior Addison Flynn. This is a state championship team. Now on the other side of the brackett im going with Westlake. They have unbelievable size and talent on the front line. And with Raymond Willis coming in from Tampa playing amazing basketball, these guys are just about unstoppable. Now do you remember me referring to the number 1 team earlier in my post? That team was Westlake. So yes i’m seeing FCHS and WHS in the state championship. Fayette nips them by 3.

Derrick What do you think about Dunwoody winning State do you think they have a chance? I am not too Happy about the venue being in Jonesboro Ga for the 2nd round State but I still be will be in the place come Sat No doubt Norcross will concur there bracket especially with that kid Amuni who signed to Wake Forest He is very talented. Chris Singleton ,Delwan and Grayson feeds on each other and having an experience Guard Is the important key to any teams overall success. I favor Dunwoody and Norcross “Now that’s a match up the fans Would love to see especially Amuni against Chris Singleton all American.

Stepenson by 7 over Hiram

Just as many of us have previously stated whne the GHSA gets done with it, we know in basketball it will e a mess.

And of couse it is, here’s the 5A boys quarterfinals in doubt about location for A YEAR SINCE THE LAST FIASCO AT MOREHOUSE. So now with two of the top teams IN THE NATION, they split the games. (Yes Wheeler and Norcross)

For gawds sake can somebody fire the whole lot of them and get some leaders at the association. Just a pathetic shame to have another debacle.

By bwash21

February 28, 2008 10:50 PM | Link to this

Why can’t they play both 5A games tomorrow night in the same gym? I’d love to see Wheeler and Norcross play but this stuff is a mess for real.
