First Kobe, now LeBron

Two nights after taking down Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers, the Hawks welcome LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers to Philips Arena tonight.

The Hawks are riding a modest three-game winning streak, all victories at home, and are in the midst of a four-game stretch against some of the league’s best teams. The Hawks travel to Houston tomorrow before returning home Tuesday to face Detroit.

Who will have to step up tonight for the Hawks to continue their winning ways? Joe Johnson? Josh Smith? Marvin Williams? Can the team expect another strong showing from Tyronn Lue?

And who will guard LeBron?

Let us know what you think.

The hawks do have a shot tonight, like they do every night. You never know. However, if you look at the Hawks season so far, they seem to be playing better against better competition. I sure hope they get the Cavs and Lebron tonight!!!!

I think the key to tonight’s game will be how the Hawk’s rotate their D. They doubled Kobe (even with a dislocated finger) and the rest of the Lakers ate the Hawks up. I still don’t know how they pulled that game out when the Lakers were making every 3 pointer they took!

Seeing as the Hawks switch on every screen, it will truly be a team effort in stopping Lebron (who is healthy and on fire!)

First! Maybe… Anyway, I think that the Hawks can take out the Cavs. I also think that Lue is a gammer and he can put up a big night against any team in the league. I believe that leaving one guy on Le Bron for 48 minutes isn’t very fair at all. I’d switch out Josh Smith and Joe Johnson, and maybe Josh Childress for a change of pace. That’s my two cents…

I think different guys would be on LeBron. He can get his but they can’t have anyone whose left of his cast to hurt them. Let’s go “Wild Wings!” lol

The HAWKS are flying high…The CAVS will be deers in the headlights tonight. Phillips will be packed and this team always RISE-UP for the big games and big names. A win is inevitable tonight, it doesn’t matter who suits up over there, we beat’em in January with everybody well. Varejiao (sp) I believe was hurt in that game..went limping his broke a@# to the locker room….Who wants some “Big-AL” not named Henderson? Nobody! Al Horford is a BEAST who is growing with each game…He’s like them Manning-Boys…he’s got Pedigree! Wait til AL figures out how good he really is! SCAAAARY! to say the least. A dwight howard clone in the making I Say! Hire A 5 and I like AJ at the point for now & next year too!

The Cavs are on a back to back. Its our chance to take advantage of them! I think this should be a win for the Hawks. Our chance to move closer to grab the 6th spot. Washington is on a free fall! GO HAWKS !!

ZA ZA is too soft in the middle…He let a rookie come in off the streets and take his undeserved job in pre-season. Does this guy have any fight in him…any back-bone at all? Can he dunk sometimes..what’s with all these soft-serv finger-non-rolling lay-ups and no put-backs…can he rattle a rim or is he to pretty for that. Chills is the Finisher…the Cleaner…Lue is the Closer…Al is the BEAST!…Josh is “THE HAWK”….Joe is The Man (not the white-man)….what the hell is ZAZA?

The Hawks need to get out on the break out of the gate, get Horford or Josh Smith the ball in transition, and let them draw a couple of quick fouls on Zydrunas Ilgauskas. If Ilgauskas is out of the game the Cavs don’t really have anyone else who can score other than LeBron, and it cancels out their size advantage. The Hawks are not gonna hold LeBron down, but if they can “limit” him to 30 points, 6 dimes, 6 boards while shutting down the spot-up shooters they will have a good chance to win.

Also forgot to mention that the Cavs might be without Daniel Gibson, Anderson Varejao AND Drew Gooden — that’s their best outside shooter and 2 of their top 3 rebounders. Really beyond LeBron and Big Z they don’t have much right now. The Hawks are catching them at a good time. This is a game they have to win.

Marvin Has never had a good game against the CAVS

Whether the Hawks can keep and build on this mini-streaks momentum is completely up to him. In fact everything that happens this season is on him. Good or Bad.

I’d feel a lot better about our chances if we had a different coach. Who guards Lebron? How about the whole team?

Here’s the problem: the Hawks have a major problem with implementing a winning strategy, and as a result they will struggle out of the gate. Woodson doesn’t try to coach to take out the other team’s big man, but instead to hope that JJ can carry them offensively in the beginning so others will catch up.

Atlanta always has problems with undermanned teams simply due to overconfidence. Bank on that happening tonight as Lebron drops 35 in a 7 point Cavs win.

Reportedly Gooden, Anderson and perhaps “Boobie” will not play tonight. While the Cavs will no doubt lean heavily on LaBron, we need to exploit the paint. Another stellar game from Lue, Joe and the Josh’s will bring the victory. Al should be primed for 12-15 rebounds.

  • Who’s your Coach? 2. Joe Johnson guards LeBron (or team defense) 3. What whole Team…the CAVS only have one player that I can think of?
  • Is your brain bumping into your brain?

    Hey Chikara…whatever your name is…”Hips don’t Lie”

    listen to your own words:

Here’s the problem: the Hawks have a major problem with implementing a winning strategy, and as a result they will struggle out of the gate. Woodson doesn’t try to coach to take out the other team’s big man, but instead to hope that JJ can carry them offensively in the beginning so others will catch up.

How on God’s Earth do you know what the COACH is trying to do?

Do you have a “Chikara Ball?” on your desk. If you have something to say….say it! …don’t get on here and try to read someone else’s mind. All you have is an assumption at that point. “How many times have you sat down and talked to the COACH to know what strategy they are trying to implement?” until then…state your business…Don’t claim to know what ome one else is trying to do?

What COACH in their right mind is trying to draw up a losing-play while the house notes are due? especially a first time ever COACH! Do you really believe this man moved his wife and kids to atlanta so that he can teach his team how to lose…The HAWKS were re-building when WOODY got here…he knew this ORG-SUCKS! This COACH and These players are all first-timers….Are you some best employee on your JOB or do you have a BOSS! How do you know that BILLY isn’t telling WOODY who to play and what to do? why would BILLY fire Himself? think…think….thinkkk…then BLOG!
