Who do you want to see at FanFest?

The Braves’ 2008 FanFest this weekend at the Georgia World Congress Center will feature a littany of Braves players and coaches along with player-led clinics, home run derbies, and T-ball challenges on two indoor baseball fields.

Among the players scheduled to appear are John Smoltz, Tom Glavine, Chipper Jones, Jeff Francoeur, Brian McCann and Mark Teixeira.

So who are you most excited to see? Or are you even excited at all?

We just our tix and looking to go one of the two days. It would be cool to see some of the older guys like Eddie Perez. Also, Tex, Mac and French would be awesome. This year might just be the Braves’ year.

PS: Notre Dame stinks.

One would think that all the players and coaches would be there to thank their fans who come. Personally I think if the players are not out of the country they should be there to thank their fans in person. After all, if it were not for the fans baseball would not be much would it?

The Braves fanfest is so cheap compared to other MLB teams. With other teams, Cardinals, Cubs, you have to pay like 100-200 dollars to get tickets to get autographs of 1 or 2 players. This is a steal. Tex,Chipper,Glavine,Hudson,Frenchy,McCann etc….. You have an opportunity to see all of these guys (the main core guys) for cheap. If you do some research and look at other teams FANFEST, you’ll notice not very many “big name” stars show up. St Louis for instance you pay like 100 dollars for a ticket to get Pujols and thats all you get. I hope the Braves do this every year from here on out. If I wouldn’t been in Atlanta for NYE, I live 8 hours away, I would be there for this!

Teixeira, Chipper, and Glavine are tops on my list. I’ve been the past two years and got Chipper, McCann, and Smoltz. Francoeur’s line will be too long most likely, as I experienced last year by getting cut off. I’m hoping to at least get Teixeira, then Glavine, and maybe something else for Chipper(favorite). It will all depend on whether they sign at the same time.

This will be my first fan fest and just the opportunity to meet the guys that I cheer for every time I watch the games on TV or come to Atlanta to see a game or two is just great. I would love to see guys like Jeff Blauser, Lemke, McGriff be there since they were part of the team when they began the run of 14 straight. I can’t wait to meet my favorite Brave, Brian McCann. I want to meet Frenchy, Chipper and Tex too. Plus our future HOF’ers Smoltz and Glavine.

I would just like for them to post some sort of schedule of who will be there at what times to sign autographs. Do they expect everyone to show up and hang around all day hoping they can get signed what they want?

I’d like to see Andruw Jones there, but I guess that is not going to happen.

I think we are going to miss him more than a lot folks realize.

Would love to see Dale Murphy, Bob Horner, Royster, Garber, etc. in addition to new(er) players…good times.

We went last year and froze. Looking forward to this new format to see if it is worthwhile. There appear to be many more activities, but I just hope the lines are short.

I will miss the Turner Field atmosphere. It was cold last year but getting to run the bases, pitch in the bullpen and catch a fly in the outfield will be something that my son will remember for the rest of his life. I don’t know that you can get that at the World Congress Center. We paid for autographs last year but (thankfully) my son elected to participate in activities rather than stand in line all day for an autograph that he did not particularly want. Getting the autograph you wanted was a nightmare last year and I don’t know that it will be much better (if at all) in the new format. I enjoyed the SEC FanFare inside but give me the atmosphere of the ballpark for baseball.

I’d pay money to see a black player on the team. - gdg73 The Racist

Sorry, gdg73, but FreakNik isn’t until April. Maybe you’ll be able to embrace your racial bias then, Sweety.

Besides, unlike many of the positions in the NFL or the NBA, Baseball requires THINKING and PATIENCE. Therefore, don’t hold your breath.

How about Warren Spahn, Joey Jay, Bill Bruton, Joe Adcock, Del Crandall, Johnny Logan, Red Schoendist, and a host of past Braves. Wait..umm what’s that? Most of those guys are playing in the Field of Dreams??? Well, can we get the guys left behind before it’s too late???

To be able to go. Since I’m in the military I can’t go to every event and money would be an issue. When I retire in another 16 or so years from the Air Force I am moving to Altanta and buying season tickets and than I’ll finally be able to attend a FanFest event.

The reason ole Bobby is not gonna be at fan fest is because he is being honored in Syracuse at the Syracuse Chiefs dinner on Friday night. He started his coaching career and the honor is long over due. Congrats Bobby.

Tomahawk Diva:

Take your weak ignorant comments back to the trailer park. Baseball is being taken over by the Latinos so that would leave you with Hockey because Tiger has Golf on lock also. Dont worry, the pig call, midget toss, “rasslin, and nascar will forever be yours. And everybody else who is like minded like yourself can just go to the other side of the trailer and rock on elsewhere!!! You should be getting a call from the Atlanta Crackers for a contract any day now you mis-informed moron!!!

It wont’ be published but I’d assume it would be given out once you arrive. Brian McCann was on 790 this morning and said he’ll be there on Saturday from 10:30am - 1:00pm.

Glavine. It will be good to see him in a Braves Cap again. Him in Mets gear is now a bad memory in the past.
