Is LeBron really “Le Best”?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Does LeBron James’ mere presence at Philips Arena tonight make the Hawks vs. Cavaliers a “must-see” game?
In other words, has the stature of “King James” risen to the point where he — like Michael Jordan could — can take sole credit for packing a house?
James currently leads the NBA in scoring (29.2 points per game), with the likes of Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony and Dwyane Wade trailing by two points per game or more.
Does that alone make him the league’s best player?
LeBron has set several records during his short NBA career, and he led the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Eastern Conference title last season. But it can be argued that he’s no better than Kevin Garnett or Tim Duncan.
In your opinion, is LeBron truly the NBA’s marquee player? If not, then who is?
Let us know what you think and we’ll track opinions right up until tonight’s tip-off.

Is he the best player at leading his team to wins? Maybe, but an argument for Duncan can be made.
Is he the best offensive player in the league? Hands down.
Is he ther most entertaining to watch? Nope, Kobe and a healthy Dwayne Wade have him on that one.

Lebron is top 3 or 4 hands down, but I’m not quite sure about the best. Kobe Bryant is the most all-around talented player in the league. I would rank a healthy Wade above Lebron. Tim Duncan is also someone I would put above him as well. All other cases I feel are very debatable and Lebron is better than Nash, Kidd, Garnett, Yao, T-Mac, Melo, A.I. and so forth

Is Lebron the best player in the league. NO!! Kobe Bryant is easily the best all-around player in the league. Is Lebron the best scorer or offensive player in the league? NO!! Lebron scores a lot because he has no choice with his teammates..Yes he gets the assists and rebounds but he isn’t the best offensive player. His skill set is one dimensional. People still can’t stop it but he can’t beat you in the ways a Kobe or AI or even a healthy T-Mac can. As much as I hate to say this, Lebron may actually become the best player in the league on day but right now. NO!!

Lebron is the best player in the NBA because of the style of play the NBA has moved towards. It is a lot easier to get calls driving to the basket and being a star.
That being said unlike D’wayne wade Lebron James has opened up his game to be more consistent shooting.
Kobe is still the best player in the game causes he still is productive despite seeing better defense and he mixes finesse, power, and skill all together

The way he is playing right now, he is the best player in the NBA. Kobe can be a better player and has proven that but as of now nobody is playing the game the way LeBron is. He has taken over games numerous times this season when opponents shrugged their shoulders and said that there was nothing that they could do. He recently learned some post up moves and now is a force on the block too. Additionally, he improved his defense significantly. 29ppg, 7 reb, 7 a*??? he impacts the game on every level.

Definitely Yes !!!
Whether or not Lebron James is the best player in the NBA is debatable, but Lebron should definitely be included in the conversation.
In my opinion, Lebron is the biggest draw in the NBA today and the most dynamic and exciting dunker.
There will be a buzz around Phillips Arena tonight because “The King” is in da house!

I’m Lebron’s teamate. I know how good he is. The only reason he scorches the opponents is because he takes every shot. Carmello Anthony and Allen Iverson would be way farther up on the chart if they weren’t on the same team. Kobe Bryant would score more normally, but he’s been hurt.

If LeBron isn’t the best right now, it’s inevitable that one day he will be. That last game vs the Hawks was incredible. There was nothing that could be done with him. You step up on him, he blows by you and dunks on three of your unsuspecting teammates. You back off of him and he’ll, pardon the pun, “make it rain” three’s on your head all night. If not for him, no one would even be talking about the Cavs AT ALL right now. LeBron though, may not at this exact moment be considered the best. That can be debated all day, but I do think Tim Duncan would have to be considered “the one” with a close second from Kobe Bryant and Kevin Garnett. Its just a matter of time though before James is all alone with the title of “best of the best”. If not the best right now, LeBron is definitely one of the most exiciting. Not bad at all. Having said that, I hope the Hawks can shut him down tonight, what he did in that 4th qtr last week was brutal. We can’t have that again man.
GO HAWKS!!!

I don’t know about that, Daniel Gibson. Lebron is averaging 7.5 assists per game (8th in the league) - you are averaging 2.8 assists per game.

LeBron is Great but KOBE is the Man. Kobe is on pace to break all of the NBA records and if LeBron keeps playin like this he will be worn out by the time he is Kobe’s age.. I’m looking forward to seeing LeBron 2nite but on Feb. 6 Phillips Arena will be full of Kobe fans!!!!

Is LeBron the biggest ticket draw in the NBA right now?
YES!!!
As much as fans don’t want to admit it. When Lebron is in town people come out and local ratings are up. Next time you see the cavs on tv as the visiting team pay attn to how many no. 23 jerseys you see.

LeBron’s not the best in the league at any single thing (Kobe scores better, Nash passes better, a handful of players rebound and defend better) but his total package probably makes him the best all-around player.
Unfortunately for him, he is getting the Kevin McHale treatment from Danny Ferry, who refuses to supply him with a good coach and good teammates.

Biggest draw in the NBA? Hardly! Just see the Finals TV ratings. No one watched. And you can’t say its because the Spurs cause the Spurs/Suns series was one of the most watched ever. If LeBron was truly that exciting to watch, there would’ve been more watching.
I know many will try to argue, but the guy is the biggest ball hog in the league. He never let’s any of his teammates run the offense. He either dribbles and shoots or passes real quick. You never see the ball swing.it makes the cavs painful to watch. Blame the teammates all you want, but you can’t tell me. you can’t see it too. There will never be growth at the point guard position on that team.
Everyone kept sayin Kobe was a ball hog for scoring a lot, so what about LB not letting anyone else touch the ball in 4th lately?
I hate to dog on the guy, but he isnt the best dunker like a previous poster tried to claim. He has one dunk. That’s it. Haha. It was exciting the first 100 times I saw it. But that’s just my opinion I guess.

Sasha,
The stats say otherwise …
The Cavaliers were one of the NBA’s top road draws last season with 18,941 fans in attendance per road game. That trend is continuing this season. Who do you think the fans are coming to see when Cleveland comes to town?
If you think LeBron only has one dunk, you obviously don’t watch a lot of Cleveland’s games. Get NBA League Pass and then get back to me.

Sasha,
In addition, LeBron averages 7.5 assists per game - the most in the league for a non-point guard.
He has attempted less shots this season than Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, Baron Davis, and Carmelo Anthony.
By the way, Kobe averages 5.0 assists per game.
Don’t hate - appreciate …

Most Talented? All around talent. Yes.
Best Scorer? No that belongs to Kobe who is taking a little bit of a back seat this year and his team is better because of it. James is close though. Let us not forget the guy is still what 23 or so right? Nuts!
Best all around player? No. Mr Fundamental is. The King is close though.
Wade a better all around player than James? hell no. Wade reminds me a lot of Iverson only not as tough as AI was. He is better than AI in a few areas and not as good in some. You can guard him while James can be completely unstoppable because of his size and athletic ability. Should be interesting to see in 5 years how Wade is holding up…

Its wateva….. Lebron aint all everyone says. Yea,yea, yea,he can dunk but he aint good. Michael Jordan was dunkin to but that didnt make him the best..he was a team player and well respected. thats y he was the best. For an argument Allen Iverson is the best cuz he tough and for all i know he got all my respect. Ppl were negative toward him and he jus played harder. Yea james got his name well known, but he cant live up to that all the time. 2 me he dont show any improvement in his game while other players ttlike T-mac have improved. And 4 the record james doe mostly dunk…. I know this cuz i have the direct tv Nba League Pass…..So come get at me when u wanna talk about a player that is important……..

actually, lebron shouldn’t even be mentioned with the word ticket seller. the real seat filler is kobe, and everyone knows it whether they like it or not. kobe draws haters and lovers alike to every nba city, and many opposing teams’ arenas often even chant his name over their very own players. they even become publicly disappointed when kobe doesn’t come to their arena as to play as planned (like if he is injured or suspended). truth is, nobody sells tickets like kobe. sorry

lebron is the best offensive player? are you KIDDING me???? 99% of his shots come from layups or dunks? why? because he’s bigger and stronger than most of his defenders, so he plows right through them. he depends too much on his physical build to produce, so he has no fundamentals or skills (he is just plain hard to watch, mainly because he has such an ungraceful, mundane, clumsy style. but hey, it works, so to each his own) he’s like a shaq in a forward position. shaq solely depended on his size, so he never developed any skills. watch lebron in 10 years, he’ll be a non-factor like shaq. in this regard, kobe is a much more skilled and talented player, because he has no athletic build to depend on like lebron can, so he’s honed his style and skills to perfection. (oh yea, on a side note, lebron does only have one type of dunk) i’m not a hater, i’m a realist. i appreciate what lebron brings to the game, but in terms of pure talent level, kobe is light years ahead.
