What does LSU’s loss mean … to the Bulldogs?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
LSU’s loss could allow Georgia to climb to fourth in the next BCS standings.
If the Bulldogs, currently ranked seventh in the BCS, beat Georgia Tech Saturday, they could be as high as No. 4 since No. 6 Arizona State lost Thursday, No. 1 LSU lost Friday, and either No. 2 Kansas or No. 4 Missouri will lose when they play each other Saturday.
No. 3 West Virginia meets Connecticut Saturday. If the Mounties lose and the Bulldogs win Saturday, Georgia could even be third in the BCS.
What’s on your mind?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
It’s Friday, the day after Thanksgiving and the day before the big game between Georgia Tech and Georgia.
And while you’re either enjoying your day off or plodding through a slow day in the office, we would like to know what’s on your mind in relation to the local sports teams. Any thoughts on last night’s Falcons-Colts game? Want to chime in on the annual battle between the Jackets and Dogs?
Let’s start the discussion and find out what everyone’s doing to make it through the day.
How are boaters dealing with drought?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The historic drought is causing hardships throughout the state.
Last weekend, Scott Bernarde reported on how boaters are being left high and dry because of record-low water levels on major lakes in the area.
We want to know your take. If low-water levels on lakes Allatoona and Lanier closes all the public boat ramps, as is possible next month, what will you do to get your fishing or boating fix?
We will be posting a weekly outdoors blog where you can participate in a discussion about topics of local interest. Meanwhile, if you have any fishing or hunting photos you’d like to share, send them by clicking here and we’ll publish them next week.

Glavine returns!
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Tom Glavine has agreed to a one-year, $8 million deal to rejoin the Braves. What do you think? What will this mean to the Braves’ rotation? Is Glavine now forgiven for leaving the Braves after the 2002 season? At his age, will he still be effective? And finally, do you think $8 million is a good enough hometown discount?

Dogs, Tech bowl possibilities
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A lot will be determined by this week’s games around the country but Georgia fans might be booking return trips to the Sugar Bowl. The AJC’s Carter Strickland speculates they may face Hawaii or Kansas.
Mike Knobler, meanwhile, says indications are that Georgia Tech may play in the Emerald Bowl in San Francisco. The Jackets could do even better if they can upset Georgia Saturday.
Which bowl games do you think the Bulldogs and Jackets will end up in? Which bowl are you hoping for? Which bowls would disappoint you? Would the Sugar Bowl be sweet for Georgia? How do Tech fans feel about a trip to San Fran?
Which teams would you like to play?
Can UGA reach BCS title game?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Is it possible for Georgia to reach the Bowl Championship Series title game?
Thursday’s loss by No. 2 Oregon certainly raised the hopes of UGA fans, as did No. 4 Oklahoma falling behind Texas Tech Saturday night.
The Dogs were ninth in the BCS standings before beating Kentucky Saturday. The new standings will be released Sunday.
Remember, it only takes getting to No. 2 to make the title game. LSU is currently ranked No. 1.
Oregon will likely fall below UGA in Sunday’s standings, as could Oklahoma if it loses to Texas Tech. Other teams ranked ahead of the Dogs could lose before the end of the season too.
Georgia also needs to beat Georgia Tech and hope Tennessee loses to Kentucky next Saturday. That would give the Dogs a chance to beat LSU in the SEC title game.
It’s definitely a longshot, but Georgia might be as high as seventh in the new standings Sunday.
What do you think about UGA’s chances to reach the BCS title game?

Doldrums at the Georgia Dome?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
We all knew things would be different down at the Georgia Dome once Michael Vick’s career began imploding.
But does the home of the Falcons truly offer one of the worst game-day experiences in the entire NFL?
It does, according to a survey of 17,000 respondents by SI.com.
The survey evaluated game-day experiences based on everything from ticket prices and availability, to concessions and tailgating, the team’s performance and the stadium’s location.
Based on those criteria, the Georgia Dome ranked a lowly 29th out of 32 stadiums. Only the 49ers’ Monster Park, the Vikings’ HHH Metrodome and the Jets’ Giants Stadium fared worst, respectively (the Giants’ game-day experience at Giants Stadium rated higher than the Jets’).
The Packers’ Lambeau Field emerged as top-rated, followed closely by the Steelers’ Heinz Field.
On a scale of 1-to-10, SI.com rates the Georgia Dome a 4.
Falcons fans: Are things really that depressing down at the Dome? Is so, what improvements would you suggest?
