Where to next for Dale Jr.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. is changing teams. He said this morning that he’s leaving Dale Earnhardt Inc., the Nextel Cup team his dad built, to become a free agent.

Earnhardt Jr., who had been in acrimonius contract negotiations with his stepmom, Teresa Earnhardt, said the two could not work things out. Dale Jr. wanted 51 percent of the team. Teresa, who inherited the operation when Dale Sr. died in 2001 during the Daytona 500, wouldn’t budge.

So where would you like to see Dale Jr. go now? Does he join Joe Gibbs Racing and race with his good friend Tony Stewart? Could you see him teamming with Jeff Gordon and Jimmie Johnson at Hendrick Motorsports? How about going with Richard Childress, who took the black No. 3 to prominence?

Where would you like to see Dale Jr. next season?

JR ain’t worth the money he wants, Teresa could hire a real driver who actually wins races for the money he wants, like Jeff Gordon or Tony Stewart.

When will you yahoos relaize that the entire culture of NASCAR is fixed? From “debris cautions” to oversized engines to underweight cars every move NASCAR makes is choreographed and scripted. No move is ever made without a sponsor approval and no driver wins a race without NASCAR’s blessing. NASCAR is not racing as your beloved Tony Stewart said. NASCAR is just like professional wrestling. Stop drinking the Kool-Aid and get with it. NASCAR = sports entertainment.

Wow! I think this is a blessing for Dale, I think he will improve going with another team. However, I think his “stepmom” could budge, It’s all ego. I can not see Jr. going with Hendrick. That’s not gonna happen!! Lobante is on his way back! WHOOOO HOOOOO…:-)

PS. Not sure who he’ll go with probably Childress

He won’t drive #3 for a long, long time even if he goes to RCR. I’d put money on RCR, with Gibbs as a close second. He doesn’t have to win much with his sponsor money (and his personal income from licensing). Off subject, Kelley is not an unattractive woman.

Dear Undereducated Rednecks:

IF Junior goes to Gibbs, Budweiser will NOT be going with him.

Joe Gibbs will NOT (directly) promote drinking and will NOT run a car sponsored by alcohol.

Recognize.

Go, Joe Gibbs Racing!!!!

I don’t care who he signs with as long as he goes to the track. He needs to go where he will be given the best opportunity. I don’t, however, think he should go with Childress & the #3. He will always be compared to Daddy anyway, but that would be too much to live up to. DEI should have bitten the bullet and compromised to keep their best (most popular) driver. Bud & Wrangler will probably leave DEI at the end of the season also. Find a new team and get somewhat out from the shade of Daddy’s shadow.

Weather Man-

Please crawl OFF your sister before half-reading and responding to other views. You don’t see us referencing how the two of you sleep together and probably always will.

No one said Dale, Jr. and BUDWEISER won’t stay together. They just won’t being ‘bumping uglies’ at JOE GIBBS RACING togeher. Are you an alcoholic, dumb or just both?

Now, be a good boy, and go get your sister an ice pack.

Unfortunately Sr. didn’t plan for the future very well. He didn’t take into consideration what a dangerous sport he was in and how it could end in a heartbeat. If he had, he would have had some kind of pre-nuptial that would have taken care of the step monster and let Jr. carry on the tradition.

If he wants to win championships, he needs to go to Gibbs or Hendrick. Those are the two teams that would give him the best chance.

Who cares? That kid isn’t that good of a driver. He’s only there because of daddy. DEI will be much better off without his spoiled a%#ss. Besides today’s Nascar sucks anyway; only drunken rednecks spend that much money to watch a bunch of halfwits “turn to the left”, now “turn to the left” now twice more, “turn to the left”.

By Brian

This one’s almost easy. Junior wants a championship…BAD. NASCAR needs Junior to win a championship…BAD. And just like Dale, Sr. made Michael Waltrip a winner (from the pre-DEI and post-DEI loser he is), a Richard Childress or Rick Hendricks will make Dale Jr. a winner.

I am pretty sure his daddy’s heart is breaking. To see what she did to this company makes me sick to my stomach. But if this is going to help jr win a championship, maybe it will be ok. And you can bet your bottom dollar she will not release that number 8. But I would hate to be the next driver that gets in. Can you imagine? Scarey thought. She should move to Canada.

Well I guess this mean Queen Teresa will have to come off her throne and go to a few races to give sponsors the impression she gives a damn! I don’t who she thinks she is but you don’t win races much less championship sitting at home on Sunday afternoons. It is called leadership, something your husband knew about and you have no freaking clue! Teresa has single handly destoryed DEI! I am glad Jr baled from the ship before it sank!

If Jr. wants to win he need to go to be teamates with the 24 and 48. Those guyes could really help Jr out and get him back into victory lane. If he wants to beat the best he needs to join them.

He was treated like the red-headed stepchild at DEI. Oh wait he is the red headed stepchild! RCR is breaking ground on a new wing at their facility. Only Junior can fill the #3 car. Can you imagine the marketing on that one. Ca-ching with the merchandise.

As a former resident of the Lake Norman, NC area - I saw this coming! A previous poster noted, Dale Sr. should have planned better - could not agree more. Jr. will be better off somewhere else. Huge mistake on Theresa’s part - she has always been considered a golddi$$er.

Without a DE at DEI what’s next for that organization. Who has as much money as Budweiser that will step in for driver X? Who’s contract is up this year that might be able make a move? I’m just asking.

This is perfectly set up for Junior to take over his dad’s #3 car with RCR. Earnhardt and Childress were really good friends, and I know Childress thinks the world of Junior and they have a really good relationship.

Also, imagine the marketing with Junior in the #3 car. My God. He’s going to become NASCAR’s first billionaire.

By Chris

May 10, 2007 4:26 PM | Link to this

Why are you people putting Junior down? The man has 17 victories (39th all-time amongst the hundreds of NASCAR drivers).

Only 9 current drivers rank ahead of Junior, and that list includes Gordon, Martin, Jarrett, Stewart, Johnson, the Labonte Bros., and Burton.

Plus, the man’s only 32 years old. Those that say things like “Junior sucks” and “he’s only where he is because of his daddy” are either jealous, morons or both. Get over yourselves.

By TracyluvsJr

May 10, 2007 4:38 PM | Link to this

Couple things: I realize everyone is excited about the possibility of Jr driving the #3 car. I do think there is a very strong possibility he will go to Childress. But he will NOT drive the #3 (at least for now). He doesn’t feel comfortable at this point in his career driving it. He says his father made the 3 what it is, and he doesn’t feel as if he is ready for that kind of responsibility. (Even though we would all love him even if he never won another race). Also, scuttlebut is the Dave Gillaland will probably be in the #8 next year. Can you imagine?! And they thought the beer cans were bad at Talladega! Go Junebug — we will always love you.

I would like to see him team up with Richard Childress. He and Richard have had a long relationship and what better can Richard do than give his best friends son the opportunity to win a championship driving his dad’s #3 car with the Budwiser logo.

Okay. I think everyone needs to look at Theresa’s position too. Why should she have just “GIVEN” control of DEI to Jr. She offered to sell it to him! He thought he was above that! I do agree that Jr. would NOT be as big as he is without his Dad. People do need to remember that. His popularity comes from the memory of a Great racer. I think he has lost focus on what is important. It is sad to see him leave DEI, but as DW has said, Dale’s daddy would have done the same thing as Theresa. He would have said “Son, if you aren’t happy with how we are doing things, you might want to go somewhere else.” I honestly think that is true. I think that no matter which team Dale decides to go with, it is still gonna be a challenge for him. He is not going to be the top driver for any of them. The other big teams already have their top drivers. Good Luck to Dale and Theresa both. I think they are both in for some challenges in the future.
