Mora returns to state of Washington
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Former Falcons head coach Jim Mora has taken a job as the Seatte Seahawks’ assistant head coach/secondary coach.
While still coach of the Falcons and doing a radio interview, Mora got into hot water by expressing his desire to coach at his collegiate alma mater, the University of Washington. The negative backlash caused him to apologize and declare he was joking.
Are you happy for Mora that he has gotten another job? Or do you think the fact that he ended up in the state of Washington after all proves he wasn’t joking in the radio interview?

Mora has made some mistakes but he had a tough venue to work with at Atlanta. I am glad that he can go home and do what he loves. Atlanta has some more house cleaning to do.

(a) he won’t have far to travel to UWashington when they dump him for that “leave my team in the middle of the playoffs jibberish”.
(b) he is still closer to making the SuperBowl (even after they dump him!) next year and the forseeable future than the Falcons are.
All the best to him…..

Obviously after coaching 23 years in the league, someone’s going to give him a job. If he really wanted to go back to Washington that bad, he wouldn’t have interviewed for the Miami job.
In related news, Lovie Smith’s Bears just made the Super Bowl in his 3rd year as a coach — with a QB who put up a 73.7 QB rating over the course of the season.
For those who may have forgotten, the Falcons passed up Lovie Smith to hire Mora in 2004.
Go Falcons!

At least he’s closer to his coveted Washington job. And he can laugh at the travesty called the Atlanta Falcons cross-country. Probably wave a bag of Cheetohs to distract our stoned and clueless quarterback.

I think it is great. I hope he does well and wish the best for him and his family. I believe we needed a coaching change, but will miss him and liked him. As far as do I believe he was joking in his interview? No, but I also believe he already knew he was gonna be fired anyway, and what coach would not like to coach for their alma mater if given the chance?? Honestly??, although most would never say it publicly.

Koachilla is telling it like it is, as far as Blank is concerned Vicks is the team. Vick will never be more than Steve Brakowski was, middle of road player. Glad to see Mora get a good job, he has talent.

Mr. Blanks should have listen to McKay about hiring Lovie. But it’s all behind us, I’m happy we are moving forward minus the excess load. We will get it right! I believe in Mr. Blanks’s desire to win a Super Bowl!!

F*ck him. The Falcons front office got exactly what they deserved. Nothing abotu Mora and his horrible S.F. defense showed that he deserved to be a head coach and Knapp’s offense also sucked so hiring them over Lovie was just dumb anyhow. Just like the Falcons pick a certain person over another for no logical reason… remember Brooking over Moss?

Screw Jim Mora. Who the hell is he?
Love Smith should have been our coach here, and if it weren’t for Little Jimmy Mora and his CONJOB of an interview, Rich McKay would have hired HIS man, instead of the guy with the magic notebooks.
I wonder if he’ll bring his BFF Greg “I Suck” Knapp to be his personal assistant and coffee fetcher?
I mean, he’s going to need a buddy to ride to work with, right?
Why are we still talking about this loser?

The difference between Rex Grossman and Michael Vick?
Sacks.
Vick was sacked 45 times this year, Grossman was sacked 21 times.
The one quarterback stat that has the most influence on wins is SACKS. The fewer the sacks, the more the team wins.
Why does Vick get sacked so many times? Because he can’t play the quarterback position. If Arthur Blank wants to win football games, he will fire Vick.
BUT Blank doesn’t particularly care to win football games. He wants to make money. As long as Vick plays, he can sell #7 jerseys to Atlanta’s Black population, and make A LOT of money.

TO KOACH KILLA
You are so ignorant. This blog is supposed to be about Jim Mora so I am not sure how the racial demographics of the city of Atlanta made its way into this blog. Since you are so afraid of BLACKLANTA, why don’t join Mora in Washington. I am sure they could use a good waterboy! He wanted Washington, he is now in WASHINGTON! GET THE HELL OVER IT!!!!!!!!!! GO FALCONS!!!

I’m glad Mora Jr. found something else. He’s definitely proved that he can ‘bs’ his way into a NFL coaching position. For all his faults he brought a level of excitement to the Falcon’s franchise not seen since PrimeTime and Jamal Anderson played here. I wish him well and look forward to meeting the Seahawks in the postseason.

This is not the place for your racism. Your true colors show and you can’t help it hint hint Koach Killer and Dick. You hiding behind cyber space. When the Falcons get a decent Offensive line and receivers catching the ball, then you can criticize Vic for not doing his job. He practically make the Offensive line appear better that they were for pass blocking. No QB should have to scramble so much to get a pass off.And don’t mention drop passes!

Joking or not joking, it really doesn’t matter, because Jim Mora, Jr. was in over his head from the beginning and didn’t have a proven success track to be given the Head Coaching job from the beginning. The decision in football or any other profession should not be about black, white, red or green, but about possessing a successful proven track record, great experience, and past successes which generally leads to future success. Unfortunaltey, the Falcons were not a well coached team the 1st year they had a winning season, but the shortcomings were overlooked because they made it to the NFC Championship game. In addition, Jimmy was not an extremely successful defensive coach so I don’t know why anyone is surprised he was a failure as the head coach of the Falcons. Mora, Jr. would have never been able to take the Falcons to the Superbowl with Vick, Schaub, Manning or Brady.
As for Koach Killer, please find some help to get over your insecurities. Lovie Smith, the coach who should have been hired who just happened to be black, as opposed to Jum Mora Jr. is on his way to the Superbowl after three successful years with the Bears with much less talent than the Falcons, should speak volumes to those who truly deserve opportunities to advance their career should get the opportunity regardless of their race, creed, religion or national orgin. Hopefully Jim Mora is successful as a secondary coach which is surprising since the Falcons secondary was one of the worst in the league during his tenure. Pedigree strikes again.
The Falcons will be successful next year because they hired a new coach with all the above mentioned atttributes! Go Petrino and the Falcons!

Mike Vick went from wide receiver killer to caoch killer and now he’s workin’ on owner killer…Look at Tom Brady and his receivers…Reche Caldwell, Jabar Gaffney, and Troy Brown. If people in Atlant are so ignorant they think OJ’s innocent, Vick is a good QB, and Atlanta just needs one more wide receiver to make Vick look good, then you know how people like Cynthia McKinney get elected.

BirdDawg, I like your posts on the GA site, and I agree with you. I am a big Falcons fan but don’t understand something. I was at the Peach Bowl and have rewatched that game and the Auburn game(thank you TIVO) During both of those games, I saw a FRESHMAN QB in Matt Stafford change the play call at the line, many, many times, but I don’t recall our 130 Million dollar QB change ANYTHING at the f$ckin line of scrimmage!!!! Can someone PLEASE! tell me why that is???? Now I know I’m a homer with the Falcons and UGA, but give me something!!!! And NO, I’m not with the KKK, and NO!, I don’t want to get rid of Vick. Sources: Vick will be exonerated for Miami incident ESPN.com news services
Michael Vick Vick
Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick was not carrying marijuana or another illegal substance at the Miami airport and will be exonerated, league sources told ESPN’s Chris Mortensen on Sunday.
On Wednesday, Vick surrendered a water bottle to security at Miami International Airport that authorities believed smelled like marijuana and contained a substance in a hidden compartment. Vick was not arrested and was allowed to board his flight to Atlanta.
Miami police had said it could take weeks to decide whether charges would be filed against Vick, a three-time Pro-Bowler.
A Falcons team source confirmed that the team expects to hear something formal by Monday.

BREES: 1-3 IN THE PLAYOFFS
TOMLINSON: 0-2 IN THE PLAYOFFS
BREES & TOMLINSON TOGETHER: 0-1 IN THE PLAYOFFS IN 5 YEARS TOGETHER ALONG WITH GATES, A HOF COACH, ET AL
VICK: 2-2 IN THE PLAYOFFS
DESPITE ALL OF HIS GARBAGE, LACK OF LEADERSHIP, NUMEROUS FLAWS, THE FALCONS HAVE STILL DERIVED MORE BENEFIT OUT OF THAT TRADE THAN THE CHARGERS HAVE.
IT IS KIND OF IRONIC THOUGH THAT THE SAME FANS THAT SAY GET RID OF VICK BECAUSE HE IS TOO MUCH ABOUT FLASHY PERFORMANCE ARE THE SAME ONES WHO DROOL ABOUT HOW THEY WISH THEY HAD TOMLINSON’S REMARKABLE STATISTICAL PERFORMANCE INSTEAD OF THE TWO EXTRA PLAYOFF VICTORIES WITH VICK. GET YOUR PRIORITIES STRAIGHT. THIS IS NOT FANTASY FOOTBALL.
BUT I DO HAVE TO ADMIT THAT THE MORE AND MORE THE BAGGAGE PILES UP WITH VICK, IT BECOMES HARDER AND HARDER TO JUSTIFY THE LACK OF TRUE PROGRESSION OUT OF VICK. IN FACT, IT MAY ACTUALLY BE A NOTICEABLE REGRESSION CONSIDERING THE BAGGAGE
