Is Schaub getting a fair shake?

Falcons beat writer Steve Wyche was told by the team’s GM Rich McKay on Wednesday that quarterback Michael Vick is “absolutely” projected as the starter next season.

Do you presume this means that backup QB Matt Schaub won’t even get a serious look as a right player to run new head coach Bobby Petrino’s offense?

What are your views on Schaub’s future with the Falcons? Should he seek a trade, or ride things out and wait his turn?

Thanks for having some brains. McKay do what’s best for this team. Now please go get some big player on defense and offense line. Get the linemen on offense from free agents. Great GM! WIN FALCON .GO MIKE VICK 22TD in 2006 and 32 TD in 2007

keeping mike on the field is a good move makes defense have to play at the schemes that mr petrino can beat. good move to see who will offer what for mr schaub that will determine our draft picks, will be fun to watch how our new coach plans and installs new offense for mr vick and company we got the players to win we got solid and better coaches SO GO U DIRTY BIRDS!

Schaub will never get a fair chance here because Arthur made a 100 million dollar mistake and can’t turn back now. “Coach Killa three” will once again be defended by the Falcon fans after another season of mediocrity. Every year it’s the coaches, the receivers, the line, the hot dog vendor. Never the finger flicking 26th rank QB. Mark my words, In three years when you see Schaub winning and the Falcons in salary cap hell with another 7-9 season you will realize just how screwed up a decision it was to cater to Vick. BTW, how many running Quarterbacks have Super Bowl rings?

Perhaps this will put some of the debate to rest about who will be the Falcons QB next season. Unfortunately, I expect this blog to be dripping with hate and venom soon about McKay’s support of Vick. If nothing else this proves that the Falcons management will not let the detractors be instrumental in their decision making. Schaub is as good as gone. I wish him the very best and believe that he will be a good QB in the future.

Bubba, wishful thinking serves no purpose. I wish Schaub the best, but there are no guarantess that he will end up being a winning QB or that he will even statr fro that matter. At least he will be offered the opportunity with another team. Let’s just all cheer for the Falcons starting QB. Or is that too much to ask for?

Schuab having to play BEHIND a less-talented QB like Vick is a textbook example of how pointless and misguided Affrimative Action is and how it holds ALL OF US back as a ‘Falcon Nation.’

Vick has already had more 2nd chances than MOST quarterbacks who come through the NFL.

To answer the question, no, a talent Matt Schaub is NOT getting a fair shake.

Vick is a great athlete, not a great quarterback. I do not care what his race or skin color is. Apparently, anyone who speaks against Vick in this town is a “hater” and a “racist.” What Ignorant Garbage!

I would trade Vick for Vince Young or Donovan McNabb or even talented offensive line help of ANY race yesterday.

Schaub has been given a fair chance, which is why is number 2 behind Vick. Can he be a starter in the league, absolutely. But, I don’t see him as the savior so many others do, and really don’t understand it considering his game play hasn’t shown signs of greatness.
He is probably better than Rex Grossman, though and could give the Falcons another first round draft pick which they certainly could use.

Give me a break! Vick is the BEST overall athlete in the league. Listen to Blank’s comments at the news conference… Vick was coddled by Mora and needs to be motivated and challenged. The new coaches will do that and get him on the right track.

Neither Vick nor Schaub may be the answer, but Vick has had MANY more chances to fail……and used just about all of them.

Schaub won’t ever rush for 1,000 yards, but neither will Tom Brady or Peyton Manning.

Affirmative Racism you don’t have to buy any tickets. Mr. Blank and MR.McKay and now BP run this team. The Fair come in october and leaves in november that’s the only fair you will get. Vick will win and you still will hate him watch. I don’t think you are a racist you just hate vick and don’t know real football skills!

Vick needs to be motivated and challenged ? ? ?

Okay.

Have Coach Petrino tell Mike Vick he can spread his herpes to Carmen Electra or Paris Hilton IF he can get through an entire 5-minute interview without saying “You know…” more that 10 times or blaming someone else in the organization for his own QB failures.

See, that will both motivate AND challenge our beloved #7.

Then, Vick will be the perfect NFL Quarterback, right?

Vick is not getting traded. How long will people continue to beat this dead horse? First of all Vick fills up every seat in the GA dome, and second of all does anyone actually think that Blank or McKay would not give him a chance under this new coaching staff. I can’t wait to see what they do with this team, especially with Vick behind center. Vick didn’t do much the last two seasons because the coaching was awful. As for Shaub’s future with the falcons, I’m sure he would like to go start for another team. I just do not see him taking over for “MV7”. I think this new coaching staff is going to do wanders for this football team, which includes Michael Vick being very successful. GO FALCONS!

I have been a loyal fan for 33 years. To say Vick is the hands down starter after the way he has played the last two years is bad for Vick’s future. He has to understand he need to earn the role. It’s not his birth right $130 million or not. Look back at Steve Bartkowski. He never reached his potential until he was benched. It changed his attitude.

I am sick of this owner and his staff. They don’t know how to run a pro team. If they don’t change, the Falcons will never have back to back winning seasons no matter how much money King Aurther throws at it.

You can’t have an honest debate about the team on this blog because of all the racist name calling. Vick haters, Vick lovers, the great white hope….Blah, Blah, Blah.

I am through with the Atlanta Falcons and through with the AJC…..

Now tell me what a redneck I am. Have fun paying a QB 100 million to spread STD’s, give you guys the middle finger, and throw his coaches and team mates under the bus. Smoke one for me Mikey!

YES! I’m glad that this QB thing is settled. Trade Schaub for a good WR, OL, or a bigger back for the redzone. I’m a huge Vick fan, but his lack of height does hurt him in the redzone. The coaching was horrible last season, everyone seems to agree with that. We get a fresh start with Petrino, which is what we need. This team wouldn’t fare any better with Schaub at QB. NFL defenses catch up with players who haven’t had much PT, just look at Tony Romo. Same think would happen with Schaub. MV 7 is the s**.

Dear Fans with $tuff for Brains:

Yes, I am a Hater.

I HATE overrated, overpaid QBs who sink my team’s championship hopes.

I HATE selfish jerks like #7 who knowingly spread veneral diseases to various women WITHOUT warning them because he “don’t like to talk about it.”

I HATEMichael Vick because he has now sabotaged the careers of two championship-caliber coaches who tried to help him make the most of the talents.

I HATE poor QBs.

In sum, I HATE it that Mikey Vick plays for my beloved Falcons.

Frankly, I’m not very fond of ignorant, uninformed, jealous ghetto trash like you, either.

Security at the Miami airport became suspicious when Mike Vick refused to throw away a water bottle, and with the way he was acting when he finally did throw it away they detained the bottle and found a secret compartment in it with a “residue” of what appeared to be marijuana.

I think that this may change the http://stargazersfalcons.com=Falcons mind about who will be thier starting quarterback, all depending the out come.

Schaub is getting as fair a shake as he should. He will sign a restricted free agent tender, and either spend the upcoming year here as the backup he should be, or somewhere else as the result of a trade competing for a starting job. All while Vick is the starting QB here, as he should be. Thank you Rich McKay for not being an idiot.

I think Whisenhunt told the Falcons he had to decide who would quarterback this team if he coached them. Remember the “we’re not married to Vick quote”. Very soon after that they hired a college coach nobody even knew they interviewed. Now it’s Vick “absolutely”. I guess they got remarried in a hurry. What a joke this team of McCay and Blank is. This is all about raising prices and selling tickets. Maybe Schaub will end up in Tampa Bay or Carolina where he will get to play against that sorry butt Falcon’s pass defense twice a year. All you new “fans” enjoy the highlight shows. After 41 years I’ve had enough. Thank God they didn’t let Arthur buy the Braves.
