Tech in Gator: Predict a score

Georgia Tech will play West Virginia (10-2) in the Gator Bowl on Jan. 1 in Jacksonville. The Jackets just played in the city Saturday in the ACC championship game. How do you feel about Tech playing in Jacksonville again?

What final score do you predict for the game?

Meanwhile, coach Chan Gailey has not ruled out using another QB instead of senior Reggie Ball in the game. How do you feel about that?

Just got back tonight. I’m not happy but I’ll be there.

Going back to the same place isn’t the problem, it’s the fact that we lost the last two games that we could have won.

Everyone is playing well, with the exception of Reggie and the offensive-cordinator.

I think Nix needs to re-examine his play calling. multiple 40-50 yard bombs down the sidelines, in the rain, with Reggie is about the worst calling I’ve seen all season.

Ever hear of a crossing route?

the sad part is that if you give tenuta a month to prepare for the mountaineers, he will stifle the hell out of all that speed. it will not matter though. Ball, Nix, and Gailey will find a way to hand West Va. the game. What a shame for you little bugs. Tenuta has basically outcoached every so-called offensive genius this year from Weiss to Richt and he will do the same to Rodriguez. Will not matter with that terrible trio leading your offensive attack - offensive in many ways indeed

NO and NO! I do not like thinking about going back to JAX. I just got back this afternoon, and well, I think every Tech fan has a similar feeling that yesterday, in all aspects, was just miserable. It is a tough pill to swallow to have to go back to the same location—maybe a good reason to switch up the ACC championship to Charlotte. Charlotte is probably the better location for the game anyways relative to school locations.

And I have tried my hardest to support ALL members of the team this season and for that matter every season—but I just don’t think I can support RB starting again. I walked into the game Saturday with this sense of negativity that should not have been there, carrying over from UGA, and I think it stems from RB. I felt like I was in Athens instead of JAX during the game watching the defense putting it all out there but seeing that big 3 sitting on the scoreboard knowing it meant trouble.

If Chan comes out, and comes out soon, saying that RB will not start, it might just be the spark needed to get us fans back down there and support TB. And score, predict a score? Yeah right! The line on this game should be interesting. Gailey needs to announce the change—and Nix better know that his head is next!

It would seem that GT has another resume controversy in its athletic department….Chan Gailey has proven he is not a football coach as his resume depicts. It is unthinkable that in 4 years we could not recruit or coach-up another QB option or that any coach would endorse an offense that focuses more on using the best receiver that GT will probably ever have as a DECOY than a playmaker. Mr. Gailey, please borrow a page from Don Rumsfeld and exit (and please take your run, run, pass, punt boring offense with you when you go).

Wow… WVU is going to ROLL Tech up in Jacksonville. This is going to be ugly folks. After the worst, and I do mean the WORST, CHUMPianship game I’ve ever seen, Tech will again show it’s true colors and embarrass themselves. Don’t bother making that trip Tech fan. Oh wait… I’m sure that only 15, or so, of you were planning on making the trip. What an absolute joke!

And by the way… to all you so called 4 or 5 star recruits who have committed to Tech. You may want to talk to Calvin Johnson about the joys of playing with mediocre teammates, under mediocre coaches, in a mediocre league.

WVU wins 45-6 if Ball plays. Ball throws two TD’s…but they’re to the secondary. Ball runs out of bounds for 4 yard loss when he could’ve just thrown the ball away 5 times. Ball fumbles twice. On at least two third downs, Ball takes sacks for 10+ yard losses (or is that Vick?). Calvin still catches 8 for 118. But those are Ball’s only 8 completions in 40 attempts. I can’t take it anymore.

Just returned from Jacksonville - Needless to say, VERY DISAPPOINTED! I DEFINITELY will NOT return to JAX for the Gator Bowl, and I seriously am contemplating boycotting Tech football until Gailey and Nix are BOTH gone. Tech had a large representation of fans at the ACC Championship game despite the AWFUL weather - TOO bad a real head coach and qb didn’t show up to lead the team to victory. VERY, VERY SAD!

If Reggie is the starter, I not only won’t go back to Jax, I probably won’t even watch it on TV. What’s the point? Reggie wasn’t the only problem…5 dropped passes and terrible play calling didn’t help. If RB is at Q-back, we lose 35-3. With Bennet at QB, Choice runs the ball 32 times and we win 21-17.

Nobody feels worse about Reggie Ball than #1 himself I don’t have the answers either. I just had to let another season go with my heart ripped out. You see it’s a tough lesson you learn atteneding Ma Tech, you get used to losing every other game. We love our school and really love our football, but have gotten use to 6-5 seasons. Ever since the Dodd era and O’leary flash we have been nothing more than above average. Thats not to say our players have given it all most every game. We see you tossing your body around the field giving it your best. I feel bad for them at times and raise hell when we win.

To assemble a 9-2 record, then looking at 9-5 after two tough loses, well I’m sorry I call it like it is. You suit up in yellow and gold, you’re wearing the pride of my team and many fans. I know in the end its division 1 college and not professional football and a part of me says get off Reggie’s back, after all he is a competitor, but thats where it ends. Damnit, I can’t stomach another loss. He needs to sit this one out!!!!

Let’s put the blame where it belongs. Chan should have had another QB ready in case this happened. Now, trying to insert a Sophomore with little experience is a stretch. No leadership! To allow your QB to get into jawwing matches with the opponent is unacceptable and disappointing. Reggie Ball will start and we’ll be complaining on this blog after the game…count on it!!!

  • Tech is gonna get killed in this game.

  • If you move the ACCCG to Charlotte and by some small chance Tech gets in it, you can bet YSA that you’ll get selected to the Champs Sports Bowl that year. It’s just your fate.

  • Poor Reggie Ball. I think if I were him I’d change my name, shave the ‘stache and move to a galaxy far, far away. Ya’ll are gonna dog him for the rest of his natural life. I don’t expect you’ll see him at homecoming or any class reunions, that’s for sure…

Although it really hurts to lose the way Tech did the last two weeks and Reggie Ball’s performance was clearly the problem, I think we should refrain from criticizing him. There is no doubt that he gives everything he’s got - and often tries too hard. He is what he is (although you would think that the coaching staff could have reigned in his hot headedness). I believe that Chan Gailey deserves the criticism for leaving him in and subjecting the team to his flaws as well as exposing Reggie to a level of personal criticism that would be really difficult to take as a professionsl, let alone a college student.

This has been one of the worst years ever to be a Tech fan, despite the record and the great defense. There’s the promise of great things, the anxiety of not knowing which Reggie will show up and the sickening feeling as the game unfolds.

Where is the “blue rug” bowl when you need it ? Thats what Tech deserves. Or maybe the “excuse me” bowl. This game will be a disaster. The defense will play its usual ferocious game but if they give up one touchdown, game’s over. Tech can’t stick it in the endzone from the ten yard line. The real problem is that you have to score 35 to even have a chance again WV.

If GT doesn’t fire Chan, we deserve players like Ball. Wake up, wipe the slate clean, and get a real coach and QB. If this isn’t done, we will always be losers. Thank God, Reggie is done. These have been 4 extremely bleak years. He is pathetic. What an embarrassment. Later, Ball. Good riddance.

If I were a TEch fan what would Tech fan what would bother me is all the talking Ball does. That is why it is so easy to dislike the kid. If he where any good then talk, but this guy is horrible. Right ff the bat Saturday he scrambles then jumps up in the face of a WF player. Now who knows what the WF player said, but still he was not the leader he should be and like always let his empotions get the better of him. Your DC, coached a hell of a game only to be let down. I bet John Swafford was thrilled by the matchup and then clearly by the lack of fans in attendec, really pathetic. The weather is no excuse. As a UGA fan picking the game w/o bias is tough, but Tech will stay with Ball. If Chan was going to make a change it would already have happened. Hw will not embarass Ball in his last game. Thats why WVU rolls 42-13. Go Dawgs!

Chan Gailey has been continually outcoached with teams with equal or less talent. Patrick Nix is over his head as offensive coordinator. Both Gailey and Nix are responsible for not replacing Ball when he has performed so poorly. The biggest problem with not replacing Reggie Ball is the deprivation of the rest of the team of a fair chance to succeed. Mike

We have won this year in spite of RB. What we might have done with an average quarterback is probably a championship. RB will be gone after this year and by the way don’t say graduating because that is not a sure thing either. His eligibility is just running out.

Reggie wasn’t the problem on Saturday. The play calling and the receivers were the problems. HOW MANY TIMES DID WE GIVE THE BALL TO CHOICE IN THE 4TH QUARTER!? HE HAD RACKED UP YARDAGE ALL GAME!!! Why would you EVER run an end-around on 3rd and a short 1. Why do you throw the ball 50 yards down field when you desperately need a first down wih the clock running out. Reggie was throwing the ball right on the mark, but I counted 6 dropped passes. SIX!!! Two of them came from Calvin. You people make me sick. You have found an easy scapegoat, and you aren’t smart enough to search for real problems.

I wish WVU were playing you GT fans instead of the team itself. You’ve already given us the game. I am sure that your defensive squad is very unhappy with your lack of offense, but the challenge of facing our best offensive team ever should motivate them. It’s your classic irresistable force meets immovable object. The two other bowls we have faced each other in you guys had Pepper Rodgers and Joe Hamilton. Therefore, I am cautiously optimistic right now. It is amazing to this observer that Gailey would not have found some other QB in four years.

Without the ACC requirements the Gator Bowl would have probably been Texas-Clemson. We here in West Viriginia prefer JAX over El Paso. Sorry, you have to return to the scene of Saturday’s crime, but it works out great for us. We blew a couple of late season games ourselves but we are still excited about our team.

It will hard for Gailey to change QB’s at this point. He should have done it four years agao.

May the best team win and good luck.

I agree with everyone else. Nix needs to change is gameplan and not try to throw deep every series. Reggie’s forte is not throwing the deep ball. While his arm is strong, most of the time he throws it out of bounds. And as good as Calvin is, he does not adjust to catch the deep ball as well as Larry Fitzgeral used to. After coming this far with Reggie, you do NOT bench him for Bennet. It would be just serve to embarass Reggie which is pointless at this point.

Be real everyone…We have the best reciever in college football playing for us…we have a 100 yard rusher every game on our team….we have an awesome defense that can play with anyone….our defensive co-ordinator is a great mind that can outwit the best offensive coaches in college football….we have one of the best punters in the country….an above average complementary reciever in James Johnson who just needs(as has) to catch passes to take the heat off CJ21 and TC22….so where is the problem?

Here is a question that will make a few of you think…What if tech replaced RB1 with either of these QB’s Joe Hamilton, George Goodsey, David Greene or DJ Shockley….What kind of year would TECH have had with this same team and a different QB?

Sure Gailey and Nix deserve some of the blame,,,BUT the play of the QB will win football games just look back at the UGA game Stafford wasn’t great and UGA doesn’t have the reciever that we have in CJ21. Nor did they have a running back that rushed for 100+ yards. But MS7 didn’t lose the game for his team. he made a few plays and his team won and RB1 didn’t and cost us the game and we lost!!!

If TECH had a QB the likes that I mentioned above, Tech just may have been playing for the National Championship instead of looking at a 9-5 season….Just a thought….So where is the problem? My answer is RB1 and my prediction is With RB1 playing Tech will lose ugly…..With another QB playing it will be close with all the weapons that TECH has in Tenuta, the defense, Brooks, TC22, CJ21, and JJ89.

To Coach Chan Gailey::::::Please Chan. Do Not Replace Reggie. We want you to leave the same time Reggie does and we have a much better chance at 9-5. By the way, after the North Carolina game, I predicted that we would end up 9-5 if there were no changes at qb(not that anyone cares, I don't either now). Look what happened? 9-5. One question chan. How much of your current Salary do you pay Dave Braine? What a complete idiot, and I cannot believe you would accept a new contract before the new AD comes on board. Just kidding. It made you a millionaire!!! Please settle for something and leave in peace. You and Reggie could live out your lives together somewhere in another country............

Tech people are so screwed up. First you throw a hissy fit when the Gator Bowl says they do not want to pick GT because a return trip to Jacksonville may result in low ticket sales, and now all of the Tech people are saying they do not want to return to Jacksonville.

You people are like spoiled children that do not listen and refuse to learn.

Just be grateful that you are not playing Texas or the Tech team would be squirting in their pants by the second quarter. WVU will do a number on you.

What a wasted opportunity to do something great this year. M. Bradley’s article summed it up best yesterday. As for Gailey saying he may not start RB, that makes me sick. Why now Chan??? You moron. If you won’t pull a guy that has an outing like he did against UGA, then a 2 int., no TD game against Wake, why pull him now? It makes me more angry that you would consider not starting him. You should of pulled him during the UNC game when we only put up 7 pts against a very bad team. Or after that fumble returned for a td against UGA. If a guy dosen’t have it, pull him!!!!!!!! You are to stuborn of a coach. So why pull him now????? I say go ahead and ride this ship to the bottom. One more miserable game and it will all be over with- no more RB.

Maybe you haven’t seen West Virginia play (the reigning SEC champ since they creamed UGA in the Sugar bowl last year)! Their sophmore QB—White (#1 rushing QB in USA)-can pass/run rings around Tech . WVU RB Slayton (#2 in USA—avg. 150+ ypg.) is a slashing runner behind 1st team All-American center (Mozes). If you can’t score against Georgia and WF—-you can FORGET WVU! WVU will score 40-50 points+!

Tell Reggie to yell at his teammates and refs some more and see if that helps.

Wow, if I’m a recruit I gotta love all the positive love you guys are showing your qb. I can go to Tech and play conference title games in front of dozens of fans, and if I don’t perform well I’m going to have to dodge all the bodies falling off the bandwagon. I mean, we didn’t even see this kind of devestation on our blogs after we lost to Vandy and Kentucky. Reggie Ball is by far the worst quarterback in recent memory that played in the state of Georgia, but you might want to think about what all this Reggie bashing is doing in the minds of your recruits.

I think what makes it hurt the most is that we started off with such high hopes, and as the season went on it looked like we might actually get our act together for once. But no, Chan is back to his inconsistencies and Reggie (with that STUPID mustache!) is back to sucking as he always has. There has to be a change. I’m with Phipps…who cares about this game and WVU? Did anyone see the game this weekend - they have heart, and lots of it. They are going to demolish this passionless Tech team. I want us to lose so there is a change at the helm. Hey dawgstyle, it should be encouraging to QB recruits (Nesbit and others) that they have a great opportunity to come in an make a diff. It is easy for you to say falling off the bandwagon, but you haven’t had to endure the inconsistancy we have for 4 yrs. If Tech had a mediocre team, it would be more acceptable. But to have a team that has underachieved is just heart breaking. RB is in college and not paid to play football. I’ll admit I may have been hard on him this year, but to see the lack of leadership is to much to endure. My angry should be directed at the coaches for starting him or leaving him in when he just dosen’t have it. As for Tech fans being non supportive, wasn’t it your University that had a “fire Ray Goof” banner at a Tech game in the 90’s? Go back and check your blogs after the Kentucky and Vandy loss, their was some fairly harsh criticism of Richt too. Oh yeah, when you popp over to the UGA blogg, why don’t you stay there.

Another Reggie start, another loss. Gailey needs to go now. He is to blame for the stupid decisions in this game. there were three (1) Playing Reggie when the whole world (fans and team mates) have no faith in him. (2) Play calling (not just on fourth and one) on ever play. (3) Punting in the 4th quarter with 2:13 left and expecting to get the ball back.

I am more than feed up. I am angry because poor coaching has destroyed a great team. How sad for the fans and players.

Funny how Georgia Tech now gets a shot at the West Virginny ninnies. I thought I was gonna barf last year listening to this one DOOF WAD Mountaineer chick scream like she was raiding her grandpa’s moonshine still — the loudest, most obnoxious, shrillest imbecile I have ever seen at a game. Anyway, the Mountaineer faithful will enjoy Jacksonville. Seeing the big sandy pond — the OCEAN — for the first time will no doubt render many of them mesmerized. Luckily, there’s a Golden Corral or two for them to get their Cheese Sludge IVs filled. Of course, the Techies will love J’ville the second time around. They can all visit the Chipper Jones Memorial Hooters near Boles School. Oh, and they’ll surely be making the trek back next year to see Reggie Ball playing for the Jacksonville Barracudas in Arena6Football. … So, the Gator Bowl is some kind of stellar matchup: a team that lost to Wake Forest versus a team that needed triple OT to top RUTGERS! Just can’t WAIT!

I’ll say the same thing I said on the other Tech blog to UGA fans. We don’t really care about your opinions about what you think of Tech or their season. If your only outlet for expression is to say negative things about Tech, then really have issues not associated with Colleges and their sports. Both my sons graduated from UGA in the last two years, and we talk about the seasons of both and the Tech-UGA game without this outburst of uncontrolled emotions. UGA had a good season, just like Tech. Had UGA not beat Tech, they would have played in Nashville. Think about how young people read these blogs, do you really want to represent your school the way you do. If you would like the immature Tech bloggers to stop coming to your blog with similar garbage, tell them. I have never gone to UGA’s blog, ever, and Tech bloggers should refrain from going to UGA blog as well.

The thing that upset me about the ACCCG was that church mouse in the upper deck drowning out the crowd noise. The thing that made me happy was that the local ABC affiliate substituted an infomercial for the third quarter so I picked up one nice versatile ladder. I dozed off after that and was awaken by the crowd noise from the Georgia Dome. Flipped over to CBS and watched a real football game.

    Tech Fans,

I don’t know who is going to play QB against WV, but I hope whoever it is, they are able to lead the offense on some sustained drives, chew the clock and convert some touchdowns. The best way to be WV will be to keep their offense off the field.

It would be great for the Jackets to pull together and beat WV, but whatever happens in JAX, we have a lot to look forward to next year.

    • Defense returns 8 starters led by Phillip Wheeler, Adamm Oliver and Michael Johnson who had a tremendous Sophomore season.

    • Offense may return as many as 8 starters, 7 if CJ leaves early. Choice, Cox, JJ and the entire O-line except for Wrotto come back.

    • New QB, whether it’s Bennett or one of the youngsters, Tech should have an absolute dog-fight among talented new QB’s working to step up as the new starter.

    • Great recruits - Tech is poised to bring in probably their best recruiting class in the last 20 years. Although Tech is returning as many as 15 starters, look for top-level recruits at QB, D-line, O-line and secondary to seriously compete for some playing time.

Oh please let Reggie play in the Gator Bowl. It will just not be as festive a holiday without seeing Reggie screwing up. It is by far the funniest thing on TV, and everybody has such a laugh and a good time.

PS Be sure and show the Chan infomercial too. Itis like he is the last one at Grant Field and he has to go down the hall and turn out the lights.

I’m a GT grad but have been a lifelong WVU fan having been born near Morgantown. I watched the ACC championship and found it to be a horrendous game — I expected a better outing by Tech. Now I think both GT & Wake play bad matchups in their bowl games. The best tape for Tenuta to watch is the Clemson-GT game. Rich Rodriguez used to be Tommy Bowden’s OC and I saw them running the telltale spread formations in that game. However, WVU executes that offense BETTER than Clemson.

Those commenting on the Rutgers game and the fact is was a 3OT game obviously didn’t watch it. I was surprised and impressed that WVU won that game. Why? A) Rutgers is actually pretty good. B) Most importantly…Pat White (WVU starting QB and Heisman hopeful in 2007) didn’t play. Jarrett Brown, the 2nd string QB, led WVU to that win.

Pat White will be healthy come January 1st. Georgia Tech will need to find a way to limit the spread attack and keep both White & Slaton in check — you can’t keep just one down…you have to keep them both down to have a chance.

On offense, Tech would be incented to throw 35+ times in this game. WVU’s secondary isn’t good and will give up plays. This means that pressure will again be on Reggie Ball to make plays with his arm. If GT can’t get the passing game on track, they can’t win this game. As good as the Tech defense is, WVU’s offense is just as good. UGA entered the Sugar Bowl as the #4 defense in the country last year and you see how that turned out. Tech’s offense needs to come to play on January 1st…that is all there is to it.

You want a score prediction? How about 2:

If Ball plays: 3-27, West Virginia wins.

If Ball sits/stays home/gets lost on way to Jacksonville: 14-27, West Virginia wins.

AtlantaEer…I agree with you about the WVU - Rutgers game. I wish GT had some of that passion and drive when they played. Sadly, they do not, and they are outmatched by a very dangerous WVU team. And “This means that pressure will again be on Reggie Ball to make plays with his arm” is absolutely true - but it will never happen. Like I said, it would be better in the long run for Tech to lose this game because it would bring about a change of leadership. End of story.

    Predictions:

    Ohio State - 34 Florida - 14

Ohio State is the best team in the country and who they play is really irrelevant. Michigan could not win it’s conference because of Ohio State, but they were worth serious consideration for the title game and they’ll beat USC in the Rose Bowl. Florida played a hellacious schedule that few teams could have won 7-8 games in, so let them play. And watch them lose…

    Virginia Tech - 27 Rabies-infested mutts - 10

This could be a lot worse. VA Tech is a physical, nasty football team that reminds me of the crap that goes on in the SEC. Richt is a nice fella, but Frank Beamer is a considerably better coach. “Beamer Ball” will give UGA headaches in all 3 phases. Careful Stafford, you may be missing some limbs after this one…

    Georgia Tech - 17 West Virginia - 13

Sounds crazy? Sure, I bleed white and gold, but this game is not unwinnable for the Jackets. KaMichael Hall, Joe Anoai, and Kenny Scott will not leave the field at Alltell Stadium without killing someone after being embarassed by their own offense in the ACC title game. The defense will play with pride and tenacity. I won’t cry if Ball is out by the second half. It’s a shame that a senior playing in his last game won’t play smart football and lead his team (or just complete a damn pass!). You want to let your departing senior QB lead your team in his final game, but Taylor Bennett needs to be ready to play this week. The team is more important than one individual, who seems so worried about only himself. Watch for Tenuta’s D to keep it close and watch for Tashard Choice to have a good game despite the WV run defense. A big play wins it in the fourth quarter for Tech, and don’t be surprised if it comes from someone on the defensive side of the ball. GO JACKETS!!!

As a fan, sad to say I don’t care about any bowl for the Jackets this year. Besides, West Virginia is a very good, hard-nosed team with a great coach— and they’ll probably clobber the Jackets. Two other things— is Taylor Bennett that bad of a quarterback? Really don’t know that much about him. But I do know that Reggie is a jerk and a erratic flake, who’s played badly and deserved to be pulled several times during the season. And then there’s Chan. I understand he has a good recruiting class coming in. But as a coach, there’s just something missing. Poor coaching against Notre Dame (went into a shell the second half), a disaster against Clemson, a loss to Georgia which they should have won, and a horrible game against Wake, which they also should have won. Chan’s a good guy— but unfortunately it takes more than a good guy to win big in major collge football.

    Little Calculator Folks,

GREAT JOB at the ACC Championship. What an exciting game that was huh? I bet the atmosphere was electric considering the stadium was HALF FULL. How pathetic can you be? You go on and on acting like you have a great time and are great fans but you only have MAYBE 10,000 show up? Nice. As far as your bowl game goes, this will be hilarious! Talk about a mismatch. I’ll say WVA 42 Dorks 10. Do you think Reggie Ball will be picked in the first round? Ha!

I am glad to see all of the “Reg-gie” bashing in the blogs since the ACC game. Reggie deserves everything he has coming to him after his, once again, abysmal play and bad attitude in this game. His immediate trash talking once the game starts is an obvious indication of just how quickly the opposing players can get into his head. Every team in the country must be aware of that by now, and every player on opposing teams must really hate this guy. He seems to have contempt for everybody involved in the game. Now, even some of his teammates seem to have some for him. Can’t say that I blame them.

Even though I suspected we would lose this game, I was hopeful that we might get it together and win over a not overly impressive and beatable Wake Forest team. However, Reggie showed up to prove that he can sink to even greater lows than we might have thought possible. After his last two performances, there’s no more giving this guy any benefit of doubt. And hey, Patrick Nix, you have a TERRIBLE QUARTERBACK! Don’t formulate a game plan that relies almost exclusively on your TERRIBLE QUARTERBACK! A game of almost nothing but Reggie runs and deep passes, you’ve gotta be kidding me! And when that didn’t work in the first half - where was the adjustment in the second half. Apparently there’s a GT rule that once the game starts, Pat can’t be bothered with adjustments to the offense. How about a game plan of short higher percentage passes, a throw or two to the tight end and hand offs/pitch outs to Choice and Cox? Formulate a game plan the minimizes the relaince upon and the contribution of your TERRIBLE QUARTERBACK!

My prediction for the West Virginia game, Gailey will start our hero, #1, but will finally play Bennett in the second half after West Virginia is so far ahead that the game is out of reach. Our hero will end his GT career watching the game from the sideline, as Gailey will tell us after the game he wanted to get his future QB some “big game” play - but will also be trying to grab a little last minute concession from the GT fans that he did bench Ball and play Bennett. Sorry Chan, way too little - way too late.

I’ll actually be a little bit sad to see “Reg-gie” go. It’s like watching a train wreck out there, you can’t believe how bad it is, and yet you can’t look away. I say we suit him up in a clown suit for the Gator Bowl. That would at least improve what has to be disasterous ticket sales at this point.

One more game for Reg-gie and GT football gets better next year. I doubt anyone will grab the #1 jersey in the near future, though.

Techie, You would have to reprimand godawg for the literary reference, he is the originator of that one. I am just sticking up for the Lilliputians as they don’t deserve to be compared to that bowl game. Good luck against WVU.

Just somethings to look out for:

    1) Don’t let them get a 28 points lead in the first quarter. 25 might be okay if you guys don’t quit like you did last year against Utah. 2) Watch out for fake punts at critical times of the game, especially the fourth quarter with less than 2 minutes remaining. 3) You will see two future Heisman canidates in their backfield. They are extremely fast. If you TiVo the game Slaton runs a 4.24/40 in slow motion. White is slightly slower 4.26/40. You can try to pause it in order to tackle them but that ia still difficult to do.

Thanks for the nice comments about the Mountaineer team.

Like most fans I agonize over the missed opportunities in the close but not quite seasons. WVU was maybe four plays away from being undefeated and playing Ohio State, but even worse, Louisville was one off side penalty away from going into overtime against Rutgers. If our punter doesn’t make a first down last year we would have probably lost to Georgia.

Any ACC team that earns the right in the future - will appreciate that too.

To all those claiming Tech won’t sell tickets - We already have - entire Club seating allotment - SOLD OUT - that is the lower level seats between the 20’s (8500 ++). Rest of allotment to be sold out shortly. TECH does support the team - and reserves the right to their opinions. Let’s see if WVU sells as many.

We may be dispaointed in how the season appears to be ending - but come on - we’re Tech fans - we are used to it. The past 4-5 years the slide started when we were 5-1 - ending at 7-5 - so at least we got to 9-2 TY before the Gailey slide started.

Are you just stupid or is it something else? “TECH does support the team - and reserves the right to their opinions. Let’s see if WVU sells as many.” You call what was on TV this past Saturday support? That stadium had MAYBE 10,000 Tech fans there for an ACC CHAMPIONSHIP. UGA plays Florida there every year for a REGULAR season game and there are 40,000 UGA fans there and tickets go for a few hundred dollars. Now that is loyality.

The Gator Bowl said publicly they did not want Tech back, but they had to take them with the ACC(haha) conference tie in. You idiots wonder why they send yall out west to play WAC and MWC teams every year. And no the reason your fans cant travel is because they cant get off work, their bosses (Georgia Fans) have to take football days off, and they need somebody at the office to answer phones.

    STEVE:

Do the math - you have the 2 smallest ACC schools meet in a championship game - both sell their required allotment. Tech actually sold more than it’s allotment. The rest is to be sold via local - bad weather (outside stadium), lackluster matchup = poor local draw. The UF / UGA - games does not depend on the local sale of tickets - they are alloted far more - like it’s a regular season game.

I am not saying Tech would bring more than UGA - again do the math - much smaller school. BUT Tech did sell it’s alloment plus, AND that is why the Gator (without being pushed by the ACC) picked TECH to come back. Tech will sell it’s allotment - PLUS. I am sure WVA will sell their regular allotment - but will they order more after that???? I know TECH will. As far as who buys via Gator Bowl - perhaps more that want to see WVU - or perhaps it’s the local charity pull - we’ll see.

By the way - why the attack - did I say ANYTHING about UGA - I don’t think so. Seems you just want to make yourself feel better at someone else expense. Go ahead - make your day. Facts are facts, and your comments didn’t change that - stick and stones my man, sticks and stones.
