Dogs at Dome: Predict a score
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Georgia and Virginia Tech will meet Dec. 30 in the Chick-fil-A Bowl at the Georgia Dome.
Are Bulldogs fans happy to be in this bowl, especially after the midseason struggles? Or is this bowl still a disappointment for this program?
What do you think the final score will be?

I don’t predict scores. I do like our chances better in big games where we’re the underdog.
That said, this bulldog is very happy with a spot in the Chic-fil-a bowl. Given the struggles of this season, and the quality the Va Tech team, it gives UGA an opportunity to beat three teams in a row ranked (at the time) in the top 20.
Looking forward to the game. Go Dawgs!

why would we disappointed being in this game? it was a down year. this is the next best bowl game to be playing in next to actually appearing on a New Year’s bowl game. the season was ugly. the dawgs and CMR perservered and showed resolve. This is a very quality bowl berth when most of us though a month ago we would finish 6-6 and would possibly be playing a bowl game in hawaii, san fran, or on that god awful blue turf.

I am really excited about this game. I have lived in VA for 8 years after growing up in GA. I think we can take the Hokies and end the season in the top 20. GA 24 VT 13. GO DAWGS!!

Are you kidding me? Content…heck no THRILLED is the right word. I’m loving it. Just a month ago I thought this team didn’t deserve to play in a bowl, now to be playing a 10-2 team…unreal. What a tremendous job to turn this season around by Coach Richt and the staff (that even includes Mr. Martinez who really turned things around nicely for the D.) GOOOOOOO DAWGSSSS!!!!!!!!!

I just hope we can fix this punt protection thing before the 30th. Hell, these guys might block a half-dozen on us if we don’t.

All things considered, I’ll have to say this has been a pretty good season for Georgia. Everyone loves to talk about how Georgia fans always have unrealistic expectations, and it’s true sometimes, but this year I think most are just thankful to be playing against a legitimate comepetitor. Plus, I look forward to kicking it in downtown ATL.

Should be a great game. If your young QB continues to improve your defense is up to the task. If your team thinks that we’re an ACC school and not that tough they will be in for a surprise in the same way that WVU was a bit of a surprise for Georgia last year.
There is a lot of talent on both sides of the field but I have to go with my Hokies: 21-16
See you guys in the GA Dome. Go Hokies!

The only people more excited to see UGAG play VPI that the mutt fans are Tech fans. VPI is at the top of their game right now.

VT will absolutely roll over UGA. Why? Because they have better players at just about every position. But it will be fairly low-scoring: say, VT 44 , UGA 10. And as a ‘reward’ for a season that saw losses to Vandy and KY, Atlanta is a fitting place to have to go. At least UGA fans can all get there within a day on horseback.

ELATED Peach (I know, Chick-fil-A) is a great bowl. After Kentucky I was thinking 6-6 and no bowl game. I have been to four UGA games in the dome and they have all ROCKED!
Having said that, we will have our hands full with Virginia Tech, but I think we can beat them if we play the same game we have the past two. VT’s 10-2 record is pretty watered down given the pathetic ACC (this year) and their dismal OOC schedule. Put this VT in the SEC and they are lucky to go 7-5. Dogs win in a close one.

Have to love the comments by Tech fans here, now and coming soon. They’re crying in their orange juice after being embarrassed the past two games, and knowing their fate against WVA’s speed. They would’ve been better off facing Kentucky in the Music City, where they’d only lose by 7 - now they’ll lose by 21 or more (after begging for the Gator Bowl if they lost to Wake - “Be careful what you ask for”). I see the Dawgs pulling off a win late with the heroics of their young QB, who’ll get another 4 weeks of practice… 27-24. Go Dawgs! Thanks for putting Tech in its place - again!

Urban Meyer gets UF to the BCS Title game in his 2nd year while Richt hasn’t beat UF since he arrived. UGA will never win a National Title under the current soft coaching staff. Then again, the alumni don’t seem to care about National Titles anyway.
VT watching last year’s Sugar Bowl footage right now.

After the year the Dawgs had, I’m happy with the berth in the Peach (sorry chicken people, it will always be the Peach to me). This is a lot better than playing UWV in Grant Field South. LOL.
Hopefully after all is said and done UGA has a better record (9-4 vs. 9-5) than the trade schoolers. That would cap things off nicely.

HAHA,
Right, Richt went 13-1 and won the Sugar Bowl in his second year and finished 3d in the country. The only difference was that there were two underfeated BCS teams that year. If there had been two undefeated teams this year the Gators would be in the same position. Meyer is an outstanding coach but even his lobbying would not have been able to overcome that. Good luck against the Bucks.

Uh, moron… Richt has beaten Florida. Once, it’s true, but he has beaten them. The David’s Senior Year. Then again, I wouldn’t expect a GAYturd, or a Bug (which is probably what you are), to know anything about factual truth.
Hey, isn’t it funny, that the Bugs have to resort to rooting for other teams to beat us, because they CAN’T?
I mean, we lost to WVU by 3 last year, and if we had a good DC instead of Willie, I think we would have beaten them. No way Coach Van lets his defense get slashed like that.
But I digress. We lost by 3, and I am guaranteeing that the Bugs will lose by 28.
It won’t even be a close game. Chan will pull Baller in the 1st quarter, but it won’t matter. White and Slaton are going to destroy the Bugs, and it’s going to be oh so funny.
The Dawgs will finish the season 9-4. and the Bugs will finish 9-5. This is their best season in like 10 years, and yet, WE’RE still going to have the better record in what is a definite down year for us.
How does it feel, Bugs, to always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS finish behind the Dawgs?
You socially retarded idiots just can’t win for tryin’, can you?
And I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Somehow I guess us techies wish we could take the pts that Vandy and UK scored and apply them to our game. We know we havent beaten UGA legally since 1990 and only twice since 1986. All that’s left to do is to have a tickle pile party in our dorm rooms with our terrorist roommates

It should be a very good game, two teams that finished their seasons strong.
As a UGA fan, I’m happy that the team landed a good bowl game, in what is considered a “down/rebuilding year” for the program.
Now let’s hope the fans turn out and make this a “home field” advantage for the Dawgs!

UGA gets to have a great party at the Georgia Dome on Dec 30th. Our team will play well and hopefully we will earn our 9th win.
What a wonderful Christmas present.
Thank you Bulldogs and coaching staff for sticking together and finishing the drill when things went sour at mid season.

I can’t wait for this match up. I’m excited and I will definitely be there. I hope we can pull this off and if we do, it will be a great end to the heart breaking season. Stafford is finally in his groove and the future looks amazing! I just got my season ticket packet and will be making my donation this week!

I consider this a little dose of respect being paid to the DAWGS!!!. We are 8-4 and the CFA bowl was thrilled to have us. Then they paired us against a 10 win team. It would be ungrateful to not be thankful at this stage of the season. Now if we can just finish the drill. GO DAWGS!!!
Also, just like I most others I was about ready to run WM out of town. I was proud of the turnaround that he and the D made, and hopefully that will be the low point of his coaching career and he’ll have great success from this point forward.

Why do you dawg fans continue to fool yourselves. I see many predictions on here with UGA scoring 24,27,35 and so on. In 5 game this year they have scored 20 points or less against average teams. Yes they scored What makes you guys think the dawgs are going to score 20 to 30 points against the number one rated defense in the nation. Yes I know, they scored 37 on Auburn, but it wasn’t because of the explosiveness of the offense. Much of it had to do with Cox throwing it to the wrong person. All in all the game should be a good one, but I don’t see Georgia scoring to many times against this offense. No running game by UGA and a freshman QB just won’t get it done. VT can run the ball very well with Ore, and can throw when they need to. VT 27 - UGA 10

I really enjoy coming on these blogs and reading the comments from Tech fans pretending to be fans of other teams. Especially when they like to brag about how classy they are. It’s also funny how a few weeks ago we had Ramble On!,GT04,Jason and a bee hive full of Techies on here showing their a* and talking big time trash. Well, the good word is: TECH SUCKS and they get what they deserve. That was the most horrible “championship” game I have ever seen. Ramble On!, hope you have fun in Miami at the Orange Bo…OPPS! I forgot, its back to the Gator bowl but look on the brightside, its warmer than Boise. HA HA HA

VTech, No underestimating you guys we are playing the best team in the ACC conference, hands down. We couldn’t have asked for a better bowl after this season. And even more satisfying is that GaTech gets WVU.
PS Did anybody ever answer my question the other day regarding whether or not the redshirts get to play in the bowl games?

Twenty bucks says more Tech fans watch the Peach Bowl than their own bowl. They get more fired up about the possibility of Georgia losing than the possibility of Tech winning. Then again, as minuscule as the latter is, I guess I can kind of see why.

Mike… I believe VT lost to Tech and Boston College. By the way I heard that Marcus Vick is going to be in town that night. Not at the game, in the Fulton County Jail. But he’ll be in town. I think Jimmy Williams might be hangin’ with him.

‘Dawgs really showed their character this year. Any other team would have folded up the tent and headed home after some of our humbling losses. Coach MR and staff displayed great leadership in turning the ship around.
As for our bowl game, we gain out national reputation back: UGA 33; VT 3
