Jackets fall in ACC final

Wake Forest’s offense was miserable, but so was Georgia Tech’s in a defensive-minded ACC title game the Demon Deacons claimed by a 9-6 score. A late field goal by Scott Swank was the winning margin with all the scoring coming from the PK position.

Reggie Ball once again struggled mightily, but his receivers didn’t help him either and Tashard Choice, while going over 100 yards, was bottled up at key times by Wake’s sturdy defense.

The loss was the second in a row for Tech, coming off last week’s setback to Georgia, and the Jackets await their bowl fate. Will it be another trip to Jacksonville for a Gator Bowl that doesn’t want them?

How dispirited are you that an offensively talented team couldn’t make big plays when it needed? Tech is 9-4, but missed out on a BCS spot. Can you get excited about a lesser bowl — probably not the Chick-fil-A, which is expected to invite UGA and Virginia Tech on Sunday?

HOW DOES A COACH LIKE THAT EVEN BECOME’S AN OFF. CORD AT GT TELL ME THAT. JUST LIKE CHAN TOO CONSERVATIVE WHEN IT COMES TO PLAYING, AS FAR AS REGGIE BALL GOES THANK GOD IT ALMOST OVER HE CAN’T EVEN SEE OPEN RECEVIERS DOWN FIELD!

Okay…..I have been one of the biggest RB bashers this season. But todays loss belongs not only to Reggie but our offensive paly calling. Between oiur Auburn and Americus hick boy coaching staff and our street ball QB, we are DAMN lucky to win 9 games…..we wont win another one this year, dawg, even if we play tow old ladies in flag football. Fire Nix, Gailey, and RB too. Thank God it’s BB season!!!!

As a tech fan this loss really hurts. If you would have told me yesterday that we would not score one TD in this game I would have slapped you silly. As far as a bowl game I don’t know if I can take another game with Reggie. Why go to a game and get embarrassed all over again?? By the way, I wouldn’t want to go to a bowl that didn’t want me. If the Gator Bowl invited tech I hope tech turns them down and goes some place else or no bowl game at all.

he can’t pass, can’t run , and is a selfish player… maybe good for the playground or high school but, this was to be big time college football.. Ball has been keeping this team from being really great. Think about what a REAL passer could have done with those receivers.

From a UGA fan’s perspective, Chan should go. It was pretty clear Tech was the better team and for Tech to fail that many times in scoring position, to let Ball throw long on the last drive when they needed to move the ball, and for Chan to punt (of all things) with 2 minutes to go, he just isn’t good enough to be Tech’s head coach. I mean, Tech got 9 wins and only one stands out, and now they conference, AD and Gator Bowl will fight it out to even go to the Gator Bowl and not slide to an even lesser bowl. Tech should have won and the Tech fans have to say that often. Even in what is a “good” year, Tech has had too many “should have wons”.

It’s amazing to me why Gailey sticks with Reggie. He has proven he cannot cosistantly perform in big games. Over the last 2 games he what, 18 for 50 passing with no TD’s. Even in this game after Wake kicked the go ahead field goal, Reggie looked absolutely stupid. He had over 2 mins. left and tried to get it all on one play and didn’t get the throw off on 3rd down. Of course Nix is to blame as well for calling such bad plays. Thank God Ball only has one more game to p** me off!!!!!! hey Chan give Taylor Bennett a shot?????????? Could he be any worse??? Hell NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Alright stupid Gailey you’ve made your point! Once again Chan “stuck” with Ball and look what it got us…..another fat LOSS. I think since Chan has put some much stock in Ball that since Ball is graduating and moving on Chan should too. What a let down by the coaches and staff. It’s their job to pull players that suck (Reggie Ball) and call in plays that have a chance of working. Let Tashard run….don’t throw it down the sideline 12 times!!!That loss only cost us around 5 Million dollars (difference between a BCS Bowl and whatever we end up going to).

Could that game have been more pitiful. Stadium was maybe half full. Tech’s offense was throw the ball deep down the sideline and hope for a flag. I know Tech fans were confident when the ballgame was in Reggie’s hands. How embarrasing for a conference to have Wake Forest as its champion. Now a trip back to Jacksonville with no fans and a who cares bowl game. What could have been. What respect the ACC had just went down the tubes.

Thank heaven that Ball’s eligibility is up after one more game. That’s the good news. The bad news is that Gailey will still be making the lineup next year. If Reggie Ball is the best QB that Chan has been able to recruit after 4 years, he needs to be fired. One question Chan, after the offensive debacles at Clemson, NC, GA, and Wake what would it take for you to try Anybody else at QB. I feel sorry for the defensive players. They play their hearts out game after game and the Ball led offense is pitiful.

troup44, you beg the obvious, I try to be objective and see the Tech fans point of view and you go straight to the insults. Yes, we lost to Vandy and UK (BTW, a 7-5 team going to a bowl that would probably beat Tech), but we also beat SC, Auburn, and oh, should I say, Tech (6 straight times). And, once again, you guys are right, Chan and Nix should be fired.

Great game for the defense!

Reggie could have put the game away in the first half but overthrew or underthrew TD passes 4 times…

Reggie/Chan ball was personified in the the bungled 4th down attempt when neither had the intelligence nor skill to figure out what to do. Fitting that the bungle led to the margin of defeat.

Still…Jackets players can be proud that they did so well this season…

By Kudzu

December 2, 2006 05:01 PM | Link to this

Two things I would like to say having just watched another deBALLacle of a football game:

…Gailey says that when ask about a QB change “Ball gives his team the best chance for winning”. What, this is our best chance for winning? So sad! Reggie Ball has regressed in four years, he’s average at best…if Taylor or somebody else does not start/play in the bowl game…well, I’m done.

secondly …no way you throw away a “down” during Tech’s last possession, right after Reginald runs out of bounds on 3rd down. You have got to go for “it” on 4th down…you must, you must try, don’t just relinguish your opportunity. Even if you don’t make it the defense still has to hold them on downs, so what if they kick a field goal. Tech might still have a chance to comeback and win with a touchdown…just don’t throw away a valuable down.

Coaching is suspect…on both of these two topics. I’m just almost sick.

I don’t understand why Tech got away from running Choice. After the first series, it seems that Tech was determined to use the long throw no matter what - that is not good offensive play calling.

To AJC Headline and other ugag idiots on the Tech blog, I can say that at least Tech played a game on championship weekend. Where were your mutts? Oh yeah, sitting at home. Ugag will always represent class-less people.

For Tech’s bowl game, I would like to see us go to the Champ Bowl. I don’t know where they land in terms of ACC “choices” but I would rather travel to Orlando and to a bowl that wants Tech.

Forget about the Gator Bowl. Tech has always been good to the Gator Bowl, selling out against teams such as Notre Dame and all. For the Gator Bowl to now want to snub Tech is unforgiveable. I hope that the ACC takes the ACC championship game away from them. IMHO, I would like to see it played in Charlotte in the Panther’s stadium. It is a more central location and Charlotte is a great city.

Your a fool! You don’t bench your starter and play a guy with no experience in the Championship Game! Reggie is our QB, he got us here and it’s up to him to take us to the OB. I wouldn’t mind seeing Bennet get some playtime in garbage time, late in the game after our starter gets us way ahead.

I’m glad our coaches don’t listen to our fans, because our fans apparently are dumb. Reggie will play, win and go down in Tech history as one of the best QBs we’ve ever had, statistically. Check the facts.

Jason now who looks like a “fool”, Reggie lost you another game with his bone head plays. At least if you had played Bennett he would have gotten some big game experience. Next the play calling was horrendous at times and Chan Gailey and Nix should be ashamed of themselves. The Jackets should have won this game by two touchdowns.

As a Georgia fan I am at a loss for words. In a year which both FSU and Miami are down, tech still cant pull out an ACC championship. This post is obligatory, I know, and if I didnt do it…someone would…but look at whats going on.

You can blame it on Reggie Ball, and the fact that he is gone after one more game gives hope, but how much? That great recruiting class that you all are looking at doesnt fare well after having such a sour end to this season.

The burning beacon of hope in Atlanta, Calvin, is flickering more than he usually does. How is this possible? Not because of a lack of atheleticism, but for a poor job of working him in the offense. A guy is that good and you dont get him the ball? Reggie could at least throw a screen and let him make a move, but that is a poor job of getting your playmaker the ball. Bad coaching…maybe Nix should be with his father down in highschool football?

Your problem is bigger than just Reggie, Tech, you face a myriad of them. Now, continue to make fun of UGA for being dumb…and loosing to Vanderbilt…whatever you do. Because while you, the fans, dont say anything, these coaches will continue to run you into the ground. Forget about your supposed great regular season…because you dont play anybody, and you get beat by the one big team you do play, Notre Dame, you loose to. You should continue to fight for a new coach…and maybe borrow some of UGA’s fans. Because even though they may not fit your white collar requirements, which is ridiculous to say the least, they are real fans who fill the stadium and shell out cash.

Reggie Ball Sucks! Playcalling Sucks!Patrick Nix needs to take that head coaching job elsewhere! And Jon Tenuta needs to become head coach at Tech! There are no excuses OR reasons for this loss. Once again Tech snatches defeat from the jaws of victory. !8 points in two ballgames? The offense is a stench in the nostrils of all Tech fans! I hope they dont’t go to a bowl at all! They’ll just find another way to lose! Been a Tech Fan for over forty years. This is just PITIFUL! This year is in the crapper. Hopes up—Hopes dashed!

This was the most pathetic offensive display I have ever seen. Reggie Ball is worse now than he was when he was a freshman. Why doesn’t Gailey give the back up a chance? The offensive coord, Patrick Nix, needs to be fired. Were there any slant pass calls for 5-10 years. Why do they always go for the 30-40 yard bomb. The play calling has been the same on offense the entire year. Dismal. No fade or screen plays. No quick slant passes at the end that could have gotten 5-10 yards. That was all they needed with 2 timeouts left. Reggie finished 9-29. LOL. Thank god he only has one game. West Va or Louisville will beat us 42-10—based on Reggie throwing 3 picks for touchdowns. What a miserable way to end a season. Oh but they made it to the ACC title game. Gailey will probably get a raise and extension. He and Nix need to be canned and promote Tenuda to coach. But that won’t happen. Instead, Tenuda will probably leave for a head coaching job somewhere else. I would go if I were him. It’s not like GT cares about winning football games. They didn’t even check O’leary’s resume. Congrats to the defense though. You played well, especially after you were on the field almost the entire second half. You are winners. The offense and the O coaching staff need to go and so does that hillbilly Gailey, who shows no emotion or enthusiasm in the game..but he loves to be a cheerleader for the biggest loser QB in college football history. Bye Reggie, hope you get your degree.

I’ll tell you what I think….after contemplating suicide as an alternative to the rest of the game in the 4th qtr., I decided to celebrate the contract extension of Chan Gailey ensuring UGA’s in state dominance for years to come (especially after Tenuta leaves, it will get worse). Why any talent such as #21 would want to go there is beyond comprehension. I think I may try to get a red and black Georgia jersey made with #1 and R. Ball on the back. Abysmal.

troup44, what’s the matter? Tech had a good season they beat Virginia, Duke, Troy, and North Carolina. 2nd place is not bad in a league that Wake Forest wins. I love how Tech fan’s constantly refer back to our losses to Vandy and Kentucky. If that makes you feel better then have at it. All I know is that Matt Stafford(true fresman) learned from those games and got better. Reggie had 4 years and can’t say the same. By the way the Dawgs went 8-4. 12 game season this year guy. I hear they’re having some pretty good deals on Gator Bowl tickets right now. Something like you redeem your ACC title ticket stub for 2 Gator Bowl tickets of your choice. I was one who gave Nix and Ball the benefit of the doubt; now I see what all you doubters saw. How can they throw deep that many times for low percentage plays? The first drive looked good when they threw some quick outs to CJ, and also had a few slants later on which looked good, but they went back to all deep balls. And why do the sweep on 3rd and 1 that lost yards? I feel sorry for the D who won so many games for us, and kept us in the UGA and WF games. It is so frustrating. The bright side: at least they made it to the Championship game.

You recruited a player at Quarterback that is the worst Division One QB I’ve seen in 10 years. Not only did you give him a scholarship, YOU STARTED HIM FOR FOUR YEARS STRAIGHT!

You wasted the talent of the finest WR prospect I’ve seen since Tim Brown (yes, better than Moss). Don’t expect any elite players to come to your school now, they’ve seen how you use (or fail to use) top level talent.

You out rushed a team by 60 yards today, but refused to give it to your tailback in the redzone.

Wake Forest has exactly “0” NFL prospects on offense or defense and is playing a freshman at QB and they beat you with a drive in the last 5 minutes of the game.

You are terrible.

OK - This was the pits. I thought last week was, but this takes the cake!

Nix. Please leave. You can’t throw 30 yard passes with a guy who can’t pass.

Chan - Hire a real offensive coordinator. Not one like you. BTW - you should probably quit too thinking that you should stick with Ball after the last several games.

Reggie - I have supported you in the past b/c it seemed like you had a strong desire to win - now I know you just aren’t a very good quarterback and you have brought the team down.

P-Mo - you posted earlier and I would like to let you know that I don’t call UGA grads dumb but rather UGA fans that spell lose “l-o-o-s-e”.

Loose is what your pants were before you were fat.

Lose is what UGA did to Vandy and KY, and what GT did to UGA and Wake. Make your own comparisons but I think that they are very similar losses.

As a qualifier, my wife is a Tech grad and I’m generally a Tech fan.

Gailey has done a poor job of not recruiting a QB after he saw both what Ball brings to the table and what Johnson does. It is hard to imagine a quarterback who has performed as poorly as Ball has this year. Do you replace Ball for the ACC Championship Game? Well, you should have either recruited a QB the last two years or developed someone this year. Or has Tech abandoned the 2007 already?

Obviously a terrific job to get to the ACC Championship, but Ball’s poor play contributed mightily to the results of the last few weeks. And the bowl for this attractive offense? Good luck with the invite.

I usually just read all the blogs but after watching that disgrace today I feel like I have to vent. Could there be a more divisive quarterback in the history of Georgia Tech football than Reggie Ball? His stats say that he is in the top 5 among GT quarterbacks in most of the important stats. He has beaten teams Tech wasn’t supposed to and lost terribly to teams they were supposed to beat. He is 0 for 4 against Georgia and doesn’t even get the magnitude of the rivalry…it’s just a game dog. If there is one person on this blog that will not privately celebrate after the bowl game is over, even if we lose, please speak up because I don’t think there is one who won’t. And what can be said about the loss in Jacksonville today (in addition to messing up alot of peoples New Year’s Day Miami getaways)…there are certain games that you should win and today was one of them. We outgained Wake most of the day but we were 1 for 7 on those deep balls, which were nowhere near the receivers, stopped 3 times on fourth down, which killed any momentum we had gained, and turned the ball over in critical situations with interceptions. And yet I can’t blame Reggie Ball…entirely. The true person at fault is Coach Chan Gailey. You are not going to tell me that Taylor Bennett, given the same O-line protection Ball had earlier in the game would not have hit the two Johnsons in the hands in the first half when they were wide open deep down the field. You’re not going to tell me that Bennett would have done much worse than Ball did…at least we could have gotten a few more passes completed in crucial situations. What has Reggie done that enables him to stay in every game regardless of his performance? I can’t even blame Patrick Nix for the playcalling because it seems as if he has to limit the offensive playbook due to the fact Reggie is lining up at quarterback. And the worst offense of all…Chan Gailey has not taken advantage of the immense talent at wide receiver in Calvin Johnson. Did you see CJ’s face in the game against Georgia and today against Wake? He was clearly frustrated. Even if he started out the year thinking he might come back for his senior season, I honestly believe any thoughts of that are gone following these games and while I selfishly want to see him next year with the great incoming class, I understand the NFL is the right place to go as his stock will never be higher. While I will reserve ultimate judgement until we have a new QB over the next year or two, I don’t believe Gailey is the person to take GT to the next step and I hope our new AD Radakovich keeps this situation in check closer than Dave Braine did because I believe this team is capable of so much more.

I feel so sorry for the Tech seniors the defense left their hearts on the field. Reggie Ball what can you say, just is not QB material. Gailey and Nix should be ashamed of themselves, absolutely the worst play calling I have ever seen. Gailey should have pulled Ball out of the game after the first series in the third quarter. Wake Forest still hasn’t covered CJ and I bet he declares for the NFL, no reason to come back and play for a coach who has no clue and risk getting hurt. His stock will never be any higher.

So where will GT end up?

The Yellow Jackets (9-4) have lost two in a row. The only good news for Georgia Tech is that it probably won’t have to return to Jacksonville for the Gator Bowl in four weeks.

ACC commissioner John Swofford said at halftime that the Gator Bowl would be allowed to select another conference team, essentially giving the bowl permission to overlook a rule that would force the bowl to select Georgia Tech over Clemson.

In his 48th and 49th career start our fabulous 4th year starting quarterback went - 15 for 55 175 yds 0 touchdowns 5 turnovers with the best receiver in college football at your disposal. The only touchdown scored gave Georgia 7 points. But my favorite stat is that Reggie Ball played every snap for all 8 quarters. The coaches did not sit him down for 1 second of 1 game. In 4 years you couldnt find anyone in the entire World that could beat him out for the starting quarterback position?

Someone needs to seriously look at the direction of this program. Patrick Nix has to go. He’s been terrible in every position on the coaching staff, and is a dismal offense coordinator. Gailey’s decision to continually promote Nix, and stand behind Ball as he repeatedly loses games, all the while talking trash to everyone with in ear shot, leaves one with the obvious conclusion Gailey is not up for remaining coach of this team either.

At least I dont have to read anymore articles about how fantastic a job Nix is doing. The sooner he’s gone, the better this program is gonna be.

I watched this game with hope that Reggie would come back with one more great game, but as we can see that did not happen. How can you throw that many deep passes and not complete one. Where did Choice go in the 4th quarter? Why do we throw a deep pass when it is 6-3 and we need to gain some yards, but more importantly, run the clock. I will be so happy after the bowl game, because it is the end of the Reggie era. I will admit he did some great things for us, but for as many good things he did, he did may more bad ones.
I wonder what kind of season we could have had if we had a good QB. I know that we could have beat Georgia, won today and probably beat ND, but I guess we will never know. Reggie was a decent QB at best. I wish we could put it all together for one season. Remember when we had a great offense be a terrible defense, now we have a great defense with a terrible offense. We have the best WR in the country and one of the best RB, but still lose 4 games. Only if what had a decent QB. I am happy to say Good-bye Reggie, I wish you well.

Ok, after the Ga. game I, like many others, believed the problem was 90% Reggie Ball, 10% Gailey. Now I fully believe it was truely 50-50. Gailey should know by now that he cannot rely on his QB and therefore he cannot sit back and be conservative when he does get the chance to win the game. To kick the FG when you have 1 yard to go in the 4th quarter is a sure sign he has no confidence in his offense and is as conservative as you can get. Yet he proclaims Reggie is the man he came with so he will stick with him. He cannot have it both ways if he IS your man make the tough call(if you think it was) and let the offense go get the 1st down on the Wake 10, If you really have no confidence, which you don’t sit him and get your future QB ready for next year. I know CJ staying is a real long shot however if the Back up gets time to throw he can see over the line, CJ may have though amlittle more about staying. But now he has to go before Gailey has him going in the third round of the draft at the end of next year. We’ve seen Gailey’s big game logic before, remember the Notre Dame game ? Tech was conservative Notre Dame wasn’t. We lost they won. Gailey didn’t learn from the first game of the year nor has he learned from repeated mistakes and plain out stupid and scary play from his QB.How does a QB that acts so tough after the play is over act so scared while it is going on ? I am afriad if Gailey leaves now that this awesome recruiting class we have going will leave also. I believe we need to wait until the class is signed and then fire Gailey. We may still lose some of them but not all. Then we can get a coach that can see a problem and fix it in the same year.

Obviously I am very disappointed in Tech this year but a coach who can’t see that his 5 ft 11 inch QB is having problems getting the ball to his 6 ft 5 inch All American WR needs to act then. What was he afraid of ? Bennett, the 6ft 2 inch backup may throw some picks or lose the game for us ? I think Ball had the market on that !

Did anyone notice the poise of Skinner at the end of the game. He went to each lineman on third down and got in their face and told them what was on the line. He is a damn freshman with more poise then RB. A keeper on fourth and one in the mud. GT used a T.O. on a field goal but not on 4 and 1, come on now. As far as the bowls go they broke the news to the Gator that they have no choice but to take Tech. Peach gets second choice and they will take VT, Gator can’t take anybody that finished two games behind GT and that is everybody else. GT doens’t deserve a New Years Day bowl but oh well. DISGUSTING! I don’t mean disappointing; I mean DISGUSTING. I’ve held my tongue while others have bashed Reggie and Chan for the last few weeks, but holy crap - I can’t take any more.

I was embarrased by the offensive play long before it became apparent that we were going to lose. Reggie sucked… AGAIN! He wasn’t alone though. There were too many key dropped passes to count and the play calling was atrocious. Come on - A reverse on 3rd and 1? How many times do you have to throw long down the sidelines? Reggie CAN’T consistently make that play and Calvin was open on the slant behind the linebackers ALL DAY! Tashard had another 100 yard game but didn’t get the ball on some critical short yardage plays.

Patrick Nix: If Tulane comes calling, I hope you run before the door hits you in the @$$. We may be 9-4, but it certainly feels weak. It’s the defense that’s kept it from being worse.

For all those who’ve said how much heart Reggie has: I’m not questioning his heart or his competiveness; I’m questioning his talent, his ability to lead this team, and his smart @$$ attitude and the way he (mis)represents our fine institution. For those of you who’ve stood by Chan and gone on about what a “class act” he is: He may be the nicest and most decent man in the world, but his misplaced loyalty to Reggie and the continued mediocrity of his coached teams (Yes, this 9-4 season is mediocre in light of what “could’ve/should’ve been”, and more than anything, I hold the coaches responsible for not properly preparing their talented, but ill-coached team for every game.)

Does Chan need to go? I don’t know. I do know that I’m not happy with the results during the Chan era, this year included. What a wasted opportunity…

Why do some of you keep referring to UGA’s “7-4” season? It was 8-4, or maybe you just slept through the UGA win over Tech. The Jacksonville Times-Union website reports that the Gator Bowl has invited Tech. I suppose that they didn’t have a choice. And while it hurts to see Tech loose to Wake today, I suspect that this loss spared us an embarrassing 65-3 blow-out in the Orange Bowl. Tech really isn’t that good (benefited from a weak ACC) and that would have been revealed there. Of course, I am not too optimistic about Tech’s chances against Texas, WVU, or Louisville either.

Today’s game was an embarrassment for the ACC too. From a TV perspective, I felt like I was watching a 1-AA game and not a top-notch league’s championship. Sure, the weather contributed to that, but I suspect that the ACC will soon realize that no one in Jacksonville cares much about the ACC (unless F$U is involved) and will move the game to Charlotte. Compare today’s game to the SEC championship game and one can’t help at wince at the difference.

And, as much as this game sucked for you, at least you didn’t have to wake up at 2am to watch it. (I’m in Japan)

I’m pretty sure the Jacket nation is glad that Reggie Ball won’t be back following the bowl game. And I thought we had it bad in Tennessee when Chris Simms stiffed us and Casey Claussen was left to run the show. Good grief. How can a senior QB with a defense giving him every opportunity to cash in, look so horrible? I know the play calling didn’t do him any favors but its time to take the kid gloves off and call a spade a spade…

REGGIE BALL IS A SCRUB AS A QUARTERBACK.

There, I said it. It’s nothing racial, its not about what side of the tracks he came from. He’s an undersized quarterback who makes poor decisions in crunch time, yet carries himself in public and to the media as if he’s won two Heisman trophies already. He has an All-American wideout who’s 6’5” and runs a 4.3 but rarely connects with him with the receiver having to contort like the Exorcist to bring in those hot-aired balloons that’s thrown to him. He’s the only QB in college I’ve seen who makes Michael Vick look like Tom Brady in a two minute drill. But at least Vick has the excuse of having a bad offensive line and receivers who can’t separate from defenders with frying pans for hands to boot; what excuse can the Ball apoligists possibly have?

Don’t UGA fans have anything better to do than sit around and wait for Tech to lose so that they can write dumb things on AJC blogs? Apparently not. The fact is, Tech was a good team this year, regardless of how weak the ACC was or wasn’t. The team was steeped in talent that was ultimately wasted by poor coaching by Gailey and particularly poor play calling by Nix. As for Reggie Ball, it’s Chan’s job to remove him from the game when he is performing poorly or even not start him at all. Bennett has looked good in his previous performances and I suspect he could have performed better in today’s game than Reggie. Reggie is a tough player that certainly wants to win, he just simply isn’t very good. He makes poor decision’s and does not read the field well.

troup44, the Chick-fil-a Bowl might end up being a better bowl than the ACC runner-up plays in. Imagine that. It could be another Champs Sports Bowl birth. Now that would be something to play for. UGA upset- it’s not that we have nothing else to do. I just love talking smack to Tech fans and watching them squirm. Especially this year after the way they ran their mouths about being the best team in the state and ACC. Well that fell through. Of course nobody cares the loss today because basketball is coming up right. Just like nobody cared about losing to the DAWGS. GO DAWGS.

TIME FOR A CHANGE

One facts and two thoughts :

Tech sold out their allotment of tix to this game, so Gator Bowl officials have no real argument against them coming back but I wouldn’t won’t to if they invited.

Gailey can say all he wants that he has given all play calling to Nix however everytime you saw an important decision this year Gailey had the headset on, don’t tell me he keeps his mouth shut.

also

Gailey gets one more shot, because he will not be fired. He will loose 4 offensive starters and 3 or 4 defensive starters. Players like “The Freak” (Michael Johnson)DE, Travis Bell PK, James Johnson WR (if he is alive after Reggie hung him out today), Robertson DE, Cox FB, Choice TB, Brooks P, Guyton LB and even Grant RB are coming back. If we get one or two younger guys to step up like Bennett at QB (at 6-3, 200 lbs) & Greg Smith WR (at 6ft 3 inches, 200 lbs) Tech can still progress with the program overall. If they don’t we will then be loosing about 11 starters at the end of next year and all this will be for naught.

Troup44 you are so right. I was thinkin of going to the ACC Champ game until the UNC game - unbelievably awful game and I could see that it spelled doom for the rest of the year. And guess what, it did! What coach continues to play an injured QB who can’t run, fumbles away touchdowns, can’t pass, throws more interceptions then TD’s and has the absolute worst completion percentage??!! Chan does I guess. I never ever got off the Can Chan bandwagon and I never will. Those that wrote that we did are not talking about me. He is the absolute worst coach and he has never beaten UGA. That we didn’t beat them this year when we had a better team does not bode well for future years. Coker and Shula got fired with multiple years left on their contracts. Gailey must be fired too!!!

You pay a coaching staff for coaching in critical games and critical decision making skills that can lead to wins in these games. Knowing when to play certain players and call certain plays in certain situations. This staff has shown a complete lack of understanding or acceptance to make these decisions either due to ignorance or loyalty (or possibly both). Good bye season tickets and good bye to the Flats until rational minded people decide to make the correct decisions for this football team.

Think about it, if he hasn’t been able to come in and replace our terrible quarterback, he’s not going to start next year. Him, Garner, all of the others, they’ll sit out. Its either Threet or Nesbitt. I want Threet though. I’m sick of “Dual Threat” qb’s. Lets just focus on a single threat qb’s.

i am really tired of these blogs all we do is complain, and never see the reality/

first off we lost, i wanted to win as much as anyone else, but lets really look at the game did Reggie have a good game, no but did he once again play his heart out and leave it all on the field no doubt.. people say just throw it to Calvin, ok the last stat i checked had the ball being thrown in his direction 15 times and him having 8 catches for over 100+ yards. if you had told me that a team would give up that many catches and keep him out of the endzone i would call you crazy. but he dropped two key balls, not one person in the blog has mentioned that. james johnson dropped three balls hit in the numbers all for first downs. one was right over the middle and and he took a viscous shot, but still dropped the ball. Stop bashing Reggie. the first interception was clearly his fault, i cant vouch for him on that one. the second was not his fault and anybody watching could have seen that. Calvin outjumps the DB and the DB makes a play, period point blank the DB makes a dam play. it was a defensive game. but before we question Reggies decision making lets question the playcalling. why didnt we run the dam ball in the second half. i understand wanted to go for the big play but running the ball with the lead is commom sense especially the way Choice had been running lately. we abandoned what got us in the situation. Reggie has to fight the opposing fans, critics, and a defense every saturday and no one ever says anything good about him and im tired of it. its not fair to him.. i was p** at his play last week, but he played better this week and we had an honest chance to win. look at the pass interference calls. if it wasnt for the defender, some of those may have been catches. the reason his percentage is so low is because half his passes were deep balls. most were well defended and the other were overthrown, but even then Reggie did what a QB is suppose to do. throw the deep ball and let your playmaker make a play. and thats what he tried to do. the defense played dam good not giving up a touchdown and pretty much taking wake out of their game. the WR for them made a play and thats what he’s suppose to do.

Reggie didnt play his best but he didnt get much help, from playcalling or recievers. get off his back, congradulate him on his efforts and lets go get this tenth win

and tech fand please dont let these dawg fans spoil our season. this one is still special to me and should be for the rest of you guys..

Gaily is the only person in blue and gold than doesn’t seem to notice that Reggie Ball can’t pass. The ONLY game that Ball has completed 50% (and then it was just 50%) in his last 6 was against winless Duke. Choice is picking up 6 yards a carry, yet Gailey wants to keep doing what is not working…..passing. Either Tech fires Gailey or I’m switching to Black and Red. From a long-suffering Wake fan, how about a LITTLE bit of credit for one of the best coaching staffs in the country and a good group of overlooked but talented kids who can read, write, and—by the way—win. Seeing a bunch of quality student-athletes winning, having fun, and doing it the right way makes obsessive college football alumni and wanna-be fans of schools (who think of themselves as big-time but rarely ever produce much of anything) seem even more pathetic than usual.

Attn: 91Wreck: We did not bet beat by a better team. Wake didn’t win the game so much as we LOST it. Horrible execution, and even worse play selection doomed Tech today…..and last week. Only the self implosion of Miami, and horrible team of UNC and Duke have GT at 8-4. I called one of my UGA friends last week when we got the ball back with 1:45 left, and told him I already knew how the game was going to end; Reggie Ball would throw an interception. I thought today would end that way too, but of all the 4th downs Gailey didn’t go for, he picks the one that doesn’t allow us to get the ball back. Either Gailey goes, or this lifetime GT fan (40 years old) starts wearing Red and Black. I’m tired of year in and year out let downs.

Reggie Ball’s stats over the last EIGHT games = 81 completions in 204 attempts for a 39.7% completion rate. Of course the percentage does go up to 44.12% if you include the 9 passes he completed to the other teams. By all means, keep passing. Chan Gailey must go!!!!

Not only is Reggie a horrible quarterback-but just an unlikeable person not worth rooting for. He won’t even talk to the media today-what a classless individual.

Chan Gailey hitched his wagon to this guy when we all knew 2 years ago he was not going to take this program to the next level. What s shame- a world class defense that could have put this team in the top 10 with any kind of offense or just a halfway decent Q-back.

OK…I’ll be the 99th person to say thank God Reggie’s reign of terror is almost over. But Reggie does deserve a little credit…it’s not easy to start four years and not show any improvement. The man can’t focus on what’s important…I’ve never seen a QB jaw more on the field…instead of getting back to the huddle and concentrating on the next play, he’s talking smack with defenders…fine for a LB or CB, but if you’re a QB, shut up and get back to the huddle.

Unfortunately, Chan is going to continue his reign of mediocrity. Bland, uninspired football…beating Miami one week and then losing to Duke the next. Never bad enough to get fired, but we’re going to look back in a decade and realize Chan’s GT career was just .500 football. He seems like a decent person with character, but he doesn’t inspire or focus his players…Reggie being the most obvious example. If you’re trying to win games, loyalty is only an admirable quality if you’re rewarded with effort and focus.

Change coaches now…give the job search to a sharp football mind who will ignore the idiot boosters and look for a young, energetic football coach who can inspire or a tough, disciplined coach who knows how to focus his players.

I think Tech was double ‘T’ed by the Tereshinski brothers in back-to-back weeks. Also, the MVP of Tech’s offense should have been the refs that insured Reggie’s blind bombs would at least gain the penalty yds. Tech lost to Wake….wake me up..

Don’t worry, we’ll get ‘em next year. Even though we lost I’m still feeling Jacket!

As a Georgia Tech alumni, I applaud the job that defensive coordinator, Jon Tenuta has done. His defense has given up very few touchdowns in the last few weeks. However, I am embarrassed by the offense. The play of Reggie Ball has been “beyond terrible” all season. I do not blame Reggie Ball for this loss, the Georgia loss or any other loss this season. The kid tries hard, but he is not a passer. We have seen that for nearly four seasons. The blame for this loss and all the other losses is squarely on the head coach. When you have a quarterback that cannot complete 40% of his passes, it is time to look at the backup quarterback. Wake Forest has some great players, but those players are very “few and far between” compared to Georgia Tech, Clemson, North Carolina, Florida State and Miami. Demon Deacons coach, Jim Grobe, turned the worst football program in the country, Ohio University, into a winning program in the late 1990’s. Now his Wake Forest team is ACC champs. Sadly Chan Gailey is a mediocre coach. His past record in at Samford, at the WLAF Birmingham Fire and the Dallas Cowboys has proven that. What was most disturbing about the game was coach Gailey’s decision to punt to Wake Forest with 2:01 left in the game. Coach Gailey gave up! With the new timing rules in college football Georgia Tech would have had less than 15 seconds to go 80+ yards to score if they had forced Wake Forest to punt. Even with two timeouts, Wake Forest would have been able to burn almost all of the time on clock by just simply falling on the ball! The new timing rules are terrible for college football, but rules are rules. Coach Gailey apparently did not know about the rule change this year. This is inexcusable. I would have rather seen Georgia Tech go down fighting instead of waving a white flag.

Has anyone else noticed that the rest of the team has seemed disgusted the lasts few weeks with “something” or “someone”? After this game, KaMichael Hall said that they are tired of playing their tails off and…coming up short. I wonder who (RB) or what (play calling) he’s talking about?

First, let me say congratulations to Wake Forest, ACC Champ. That said, what a weak conference this year. Yeah, Tech fans probably ARE looking forward to basketball and girls volleyball! What a disappointing end to what could have been a great football year. As a season ticket holder for many years, it’s hard to keep getting your heart ripped out. Please Chan, go somewhere else and take Patrick Nix with you. I feel so bad for the defense, Coach Tenuta, and on offense for Calvin and Tashard.

Reggie “I can’t Throw the” Ball can not and never will be a a quarterback in the Arena League. And just think if Johnson had gone to a real school with David Greene, DJ Shockley and Matthew Stafford with could have one at least 2 and even 3 SEC Championships plus maybe a National Championship. Tech should be 11-2 right now. With a half decent QB. thats a reasonable assessment. I predicted after the Duke game that Tech wouldn’t win another game. Unfortunatly looks like I’m going to be right. How can you expect to win with Reggie Ball at QB. With Ball gone next yr., and the returning nucleus of starters along with Nesbitt and company, Tech will be in the ACC championship game next yr. Thanks Ga. Tech for a better than expected yr. I do hope you win your bowl game.

I sat here today and watched what is probably the worst 9 wins team I’ve ever seen. For over 45 years I have been a Tech man and fan yet sitting here right now I am as frustrated as I’ve ever been since the 51-7 debacle. At least in that game I saw a team overmatched at every position unlike today when we have a position advantage at all positions EXCEPT at QB. Without question or doubt R Ball is the biggest bust as a D-1 QB and I cannot fathom why or how he is a starting player on this squad. Player loyalty is one thing but that is a 2 way street and I see nothing to suggest R Ball has any loyalty to the team, the coaches or the Institution that is providing him a chance earn a living post football. His constant yapping on the field to the officials or the opponent is not something that any quality coach would tolerate. Yet, C Gailey stands by and watches this kind of behavior time after time. It is apparent that getting R Ball yapping removes any trace of athletic ability and turns him into nothing but a mouthy brat. To have the level of talent on the field we do and then to watch R Ball bounce passes or throw up rainbows is nauseating. He led J Johnson into a vicious hit by the Wake safety by his inability to throw on rhythm or with any degree of timing. I hope JJ comes back healthy, lords knows if R Ball would be around for another year he might get someone seriously injured. Yes, I’ve taken off on Ball. Others here have quoted his stats so I will refrain from restating them. Certainly part of his statistical issues are resulting from the coaching, or lack thereof, he has received but nothing excuses bounced or overthrown passes to open receivers. To mention R Ball in the same breath as J Hamilton is ludicrous. His numbers are pathetic as his leadership “skills”.

Now to, and probably more to the point, are C Gailey and P Nix. How, how, how can you ignore a 1300 plus yard rusher when you have the lead in the 4th quarter of a game? Did T Choice have a carry in the 4th quarter? Did he have the ball on 2nd and short? 3rd and short? 4th and short? For goodness sakes he has been your bread and butter all year and in the 2nd biggest game of the year you ignore him! Your refusal to put the ball into the hands of who is arguably one of the finest backs in Tech history is inexcusable! Wake showed no signs of slowing him down but for some unknown and unfathomable reason Choice was not your first selection in crunch time. For someone who earned a living in the NFL where running the ball is the first focus how can you explain to us why this occurred?

This season, which held such wonderful promise at the beginning, has turned into yet another disappoint for the Tech faithful. In the biggest games of the year….ND, Clemson, GA and today we have been embarrassed and held up as a program that cannot progress beyond taking one step forward for every two steps back. Given the ACC this year does anyone think that Miami, FSU, VT, BC and Clemson are going to fall apart or roll over in years to come? We have a wonderful class coming in next year but if we continue to be the most inconsistent I ever seen any strides made in recruiting are going to disappear quickly!

To all Tech fans I apologize for this blog but after today I finally had to voice what has been building in me for a long time. I will continue to support the team and the Institution as I have for some many years but I say to all that care……..We need a fresh evaluation of the coaching staff and a clear understanding that they are letting the friends, fans and alumnus of a wonderful Institution down with the mediocrity in their performance as leaders of such a fine group of young men.

To the Wake family I send along my congratulations on the win today and a wonderful season for Deacs! Keep in going in the Orange Bowl as proud ACC champions!

Tech has never won a BIG game with Ball at QB. Someone earlier wrote that Ball is a selfish player. He was right. Ball is not a team player and it is obvious in the way he plays. He wants the glory and he does not care if his team loses. Bad play calling also hurt Tech. The defensive was great.

Why in the world is everyone upset. You knew who the qb and coaches were before the game started.

Didn’t suprise me. I don’t understand why everyone else is suprised. Chan made a decision to stay with Reggie 3 yrs ago and we have enjoyed the results of his stubborness and misguided loyalty to one inept qb (at the expense of the rest of the players).

The really good coaches will pull their qb’s when they struggle; but like I said that is what the good coaches do.

What a shame for K Hall, C Johnson, J Anoi to leave it out there game after game knowing their qb is going to make it difficult for them to win game after game. The sad part of all this is that the coaching staff just stares blankly at them with no thought to even try and throw them a life life.

I have been a Tech fan since the 63 win over Alabama, and this has been the most miserable three years I have witnessed since the Bill Lewis era.

At least there is only one more game left of RB.

Hope springs eternal and I am looking forward to next year.

The facts are this..

This team accomplished much more than anyone thought they would

Tech played in a championship game.. Georgia didnt !

Tech’s program is on the way up, anyone who doesnt believe that, doesnt know football

Reggie is not a quarterback, but we have known that for 4 years. Good competitor, not talented enough for the position

Wake is a good team

The play calling did the Jackets in today.. too many long passes

Tech will make it back to the championship game sooner than most people think

I just got back from the game, and having witnessed it in person, I can’t put all the blame on Ball. Calvin Johnson dropped a couple of passes, and tipped an interception into a defender’s hands. The real blame, however, has to be on whoever called the plays. This is the most knuckleheaded offensive scheme I have ever seen. Even though the running game and short passing game were more effective when occasionally used, the bulk of the offense consisted of Reggie lofting 40 yard ducks play after play. With the Johnsons unable to run under them today, we were truly a dead duck. I don’t believe Reggie was calling this idiocy.

Losses against Notre Dame, Klempsun, and the Dawgs should have told us today was too much to hope for. We had an opportunity, we just didn’t have a quarterback or head coach in the game. How sick. Hey folks, thinks about this … don’t think Chan will be fired … he has a new contract, BUT he needs a new offensive coordinator bad. We run the same play too many times. Such as the QB Sneak … I mentioned this last week after the GA game. Also what happen to that little safety pass to the FB we used effectively a month or so back. EVEN THE ANNOUNCERS of the game said today, “how many times have they thrown the ball deep?” “six or seven?” I only remember one being completed … actually the completed one was a bullet to Calvin, about 20 yards down the field. Also, Reggie running the ball should be done off faking or handing off to Choice … NOT QB draws up the middle. I think 75% of Reggie’s offensive are the play calling … I mean think about it, 36% completion ratio. Think about all the bombs thrown to the two johnsons and Reggie’s throws out of bounds and then the ones where he misses the receivers or has the passes dropped. I probably won’t watch the bowl game. I’m ready for some BASKETBALL! We have offense AND defense in that sport.

I am not a Tech grad nor a UGA grad. Just a football fan in general. I have read the Tech blog all year as well as the UGA blog. Techsters you have no right to bash the UGA people now. Most of you have given them fits all year and actually they have a better team than you do. Any team that Tech played this year that is bowl material it lost too. You had weak wins over ACC conference teams. You did beat VA TECH, but if you played them again you would lose by at least two touchdowns. I think Tech had made some big gains on early recruiting. However, with the last two games and the negative comments from alumni, fans and the press you may have lost whatever gains you had previously made. You will never be a big time football power when you have negative fans and a fan base that can not sell out most of its games. You play for a conference championship and look at the empty seats. Quit your b*** and support your program. You are fair weather fans and have a 2nd rate football team and you get excited about the possibility of winning 10 or 11 games. You should win that many every year being in the heart of the south with an abundance of talent and a school of academic excellence. You have the facilities but not the resources to be a true championship team. Lack luster fan base and a coaching staff that should be on a division II school. Just remember the longer you bash your team, the players and the coaching staff the more you are hurting your program. Sure UGA lost to a couple of weak sisters in Vandy and KY but look how their fans supported them in the next 2 games. They lose 4 games and call it a rebuilding year. You lose 3 and think you are world beaters but you can not go and support your team. Your athletic department has to advertise in the AJC for ticket sales. Other schools buy tickets to have a chance to see their team against you. Look at FSU and they still sold out thier games with the year they had. You fans have to step up and be a voice of encouragement and support your team win or lose. Quit whining and go to whatever bowl game you have and be proud of your team. You deserve what you have and you are to blame. You all claim to make so much money, well brothers and sisters as the late Al Ciraldo would say …. get that check book out and make a contribution and buy season tickets. You are the reason you have a 2nd rate team and have for many many years. No loyal fan support since the Dodd era. I have spoken my peace and look forward to the bowl games. I wish you best of the luck in the future as well as the Dawg fans, good luck to you.

It was another game that they started playing it same as the game gets closer to the end. There was not a single blitz by the defense on the final scoring drive by Wake Forest. The most they rushed during that drive was 4 so that all the time to throw. Techs D is know for blitzing and disrupting the quarterback. I am getting sick and tired of Tech playing it safe as the game goes on. It is a fight to the end………..

Chan Gailey, Patrick Nix, and Reginald helped me make a decision tonight. I have decided NOT to spend that money on Tech season tickets next year after all. Nope; make that two decisions. During the Gator Bowl I think I’ll just take in a movie instead. Who wants to watch another painful game that is coached by a head coach that is not one, with plays called by an offensive coordinator that is not one, and snaps being taken by a QB that is not one? Beside, if Tech is going to play West Virginia or Texas or Louisville in the bowl game, all I can say is “Hello to the beginnig of next year’s loosing streak”.

After watching the ACC championship game, I wondered if I would get to see a good game today. The SEC champion-ship game showed how wrong I was. Both Florida and Arkansas scored over 30 points, but both teams also had a better defense than Wake Forest or Georgia Tech. In fact either team in the SEC championship could easily beat the ACC all stars from all their teams. The section of the ACC that Tech was the champion of this year must have been much worse than I thought they were, but the other section, as shown by Wake Forest sure wasn’t much better.

I say give Reggie Ball his degree tomorrow and let him graduate BEFORE the bowl game. And put Chan Gailey and the inept offensive coordinator on “administrative leave” so we won’t have to suffer through another uninspiring, unimagainative and predictable display football. The offense was/is offensive (i.e. stinks).

Are these numbers right? Calvin Johnson caught 8 passes and Reggie only completed 9 of 29? Are you f’n kidding me? I might not be an engineer but doesn’t that equate to 1 of 21 passing when CJ doesn’t bring down the football? Now I’m not the type to say that I can do better than this guy or that guy because I never played college football but….I CAN DO BETTER THAN 1 OF 21!!!!!

Now Tech can concentrate on something important: the course work of its athletes. The ACC title is insignificant compared to getting the graduation rate up to at least the ACC average.

After reading post-game comments from today’s game, I wonder how deep the rift is between the defensive and offensive units for the Jackets. I’m surprised we haven’t heard comments from the defensive team earlier in the season. There has to be some resentment when one group continuously produces in the clutch and the other one is so irratic.

I’m a Wake grad and fan and I’ve got to take up for Ga Tech (ACC) against you UGA/SEC pricks. Chan, Nix and Ball were horrible and handed us the game today just like they did last week against Georgia, but Wake’s D was outstanding as well. You UGA fans had to beat a poorly coached Ga Tech team to salvage your whole crappy season. You beat no ranked teams except Tech and lost to Vandy (for Homecoming!!!!)HA-HA-HA and UK. 51 points by Tenn. - I’d shut up if Wake allowed 51 points to anyone. Why don’t you? Only beat a bad Colorado team by 1 at home! We beat Ole Miss 27-3 at Oxford, UGA had to hold on to beat them by 5 with an interception with 1:30 to go in the game. You were 10th in the nation at 5-0, now that’s a complete collapse, UGA isn’t even ranked now. You had to beat a poorly coached Ga Tech team, AT HOME, to even get a few votes! And you talk about the empty seats at the ACC championship game today, big deal -Wake is a small school, we don ‘t have a million alums like UGA, where admission, education and diplomas are cheap and easy. Of course you UGA fans had time to watch the ACC championship game today, you weren’t in the SEC championship game. Enjoy your little crappy bowl you’ll be going to. Va Tech will kick your red a*, UGA! Also enjoy your non-ranking, your non-BCS ranking, your average SAT admission score of 1242 (Wake - 1340, Ga Tech - 1323) and your low football graduation rate (Wake - 96%, best of all BCS schools). Wake beat Fla. State 30-0, U Florida, your great SEC powerhouse, was tied with them in the fourth quarter! Watch Wake on Jan. 2 in the ORANGE BOWL, long after your crappy season is over! WFU fan!

As a Georgia Grad, I remember going through this same type of thing when Donnan wouldnt let go of his Quincy Carter fetish. Georgia went down this same road because he wouldnt take Carter out and let him do as he pleased. Chan Gailey has had his Quincy Carter now. Tech was the most talented team this year and if they had a good level headed QB, it would have made a big time difference. Ball is too interested in jawing with the other team than worrying with controlling the game. Tech had the better team today but CG let his QB throw long almost all the time it seemed or he ran more than he should. CJohnson should have been used more along with the running back. Those two along with the big offensive line would have been a better use of talent. As far as the comments about the goings on of the UGA fans. It seems that neither side…Ga or Tech fans are completely innocent.

These comments about Reggie Ball are actually kind of amusing. His Head was not even in these last two games. Chan Gailey sticks with Reggie Ball because he does not know —— about what is acceptable and unacceptable quarterback play. Reggie Ball would probably play okay for a team like Valdosta State. Well, I did not really mean to make a joke out of a joke that has lost its punch line.

When the ACCC game was awarded to J-ville, it was assumed that FSU and/or Miami would be regular participants. It just so happened that this was an off year for both programs. Today was like a second tier bowl game. The low attendance would indicate very little interest from locals and other teams in the conference. In comparison, the SECC game has fans from all over the SE. I saw fans from UT, AU, SC, KY, Memphis, and others - and it has been the same every year. Since Tech and Wake probably won’t be back in the ACCC for a while, I hate to hear talk about moving the game. The thing to do is make sure the loser is not locked into the Gator Bowl because that is not fair to the Gator Bowl.

I guess since UGA fans couldn’t watch their beloved dawgs play for a championship, they decided to write on this blog all night. Are your lives that pathetic that all you rely on is college football. These are college players, and all you do it bash them day in and day out if they are not at their peak performance. If you ever played a competitive sport, you realize it is just a game in the end. I am embarrased to be affiliated with fans who are fair weathered and can’t take a loss like a man and move on to the next game…and to be affiliated by location with the UGA fans who show no class. You continue to kick a man when he is down and that is the lack of class I am talking about. How would you like it if you were Reggie Ball right now, or is parents for that matter and read online how much people hate your kid and can’t wait for him to leave…did you see Reggie after the game…he feels just as bad as anyone out there. Shame on everyone that continues to bash Reggie, the problems with the team cannot just automaticaly fall on him. He is just doing what he is told. Congratualtions to all of you who criticize from the stands and at home. You have no idea what it is like to be a student-athlete and get harassed for a bad performance. You are not dealing with Professional players, these are college kids. Those of you who bash collegiate players always have and always will be the way you are, and that is a crying shame…why don’t you grow up and act your age instead of your shoe size. Good luck to both teams in theit respective bowl games. Hopefully, the state of georgia can bring home 2 victories.

Well, GTfan, since you are so high and mighty, tell me why Reggie Ball does not deserve agood bashing. He started his very first game as the first string Quarterback. He is not 18 anymore, why can’t he talk to the media and state his own point of view. His head is not in the game, and Gailey want even give another QB a chance. Taylor Bennett is a student athlete, he would like achance to play. But maybe the GTfan is in love with Reggie Balling and is just another blogger , who does not know what it is like to be a student athlete.

While we’re firing folks, let’s take care of the ACC Commish as well. He has failed to support Tech in the past and now the AP reports:

“The only good news for Georgia Tech was that it probably won’t have to return to Jacksonville for the Gator Bowl in four weeks. ACC commissioner John Swofford said at halftime that the Gator Bowl would be allowed to select another conference team, essentially giving the bowl permission to overlook a rule that would force the bowl to select Georgia Tech over Clemson, Boston College or Maryland.”

coming from a Tech fan

  • Today’s performance only reaffirms what I said last week…Reggie Ball is the 4-year qb Ive seen. Ever. How do you complete less then half your passes for a career? How do you throw so many picks? How do you overthrow receivers? Why are you due two turnovers vs every half-decent team we play? When you consider the talent on the offense, it makes you wonder how bad Ball would be on a lesser team. Just abysmal. Walking out of bounds was a fitting demise for thw worst 4-year qb ever.

  • Chan is as much to blame as Ball. Any coach would have benched Ball last year. You gave him a couple years, it didnt work out, he is holding the team back. Put in the backup, thats what he’s there for. But no…Chan is too intimidated to do it, and it costs tech many wins. We definately would have won today, and probably would have beat uga and nd. Instead we have four losses. I’ll bet my house we lost a fifth game at our bowl.

  • Chan got completely outcoached today. How many wasted sidelines bombs did we have to throw? Why did we stop running again, especially after Chan said we are a running team? And why not go for it on 4th down? Give me a break. We need to fire Chan before he ruins our good recruits coming in.

  • Im SICK of our lousy fan support. We could have fit every Tech student in the stadium and it wouldnt have been filled. Pathetic.

  • Hats off to the defense that once again played their tails off. You would think giving up 12 points and 9 points back to back games would easily be good enough for wins. But Reggie Ball wouldnt have ANY of that.

Unfortunately the real Tech people do not speak on this forum. You so called fans seem to forget that at the first of the last four seasons we were not even in the polls but somehow managed to pull off productive years. You doggie fans certainly cant say that. Reggie wasnt perfect but he has hung in there, kept his nose clean and kept his grades up.Chan is a man of honor that is keeping the rep of a great school up there unlike some others that hand out lip service. I am a life long Tech fan. Yesterday was yet another of many sad days I’ve had to endure over the past four years. We have the best receiver in the entire nation in Calvin Johnson. We have the most unreliable QB in Reggie Ball. It is not unlike having an 800 horsepower Monte Carlo in your garage, and not having a right foot to accelerate. Damn!!! I am so glad Ball is a senior. As for what Bowl GT gets invited to…can we Tech fans endure yet another game such as yesterday? However, I do give Wake a lot of credit in their play. And I wish them well in the Orange Bowl. As a Brave’s fan I’ve gotten used to this saying, so I’ll use it for Tech… MAYBE NEXT YEAR.

It’s a tough game, even USC lost to UCLA which they should have won. Now we have coaches voting on whether FL or MI plays Ohio State. Ark punt returner fumbles one in the end zone. Nebraska’s top receiver inexplicably fumbles first play of the game on his own 2. Wake shows up and plays a game, gets held to 9 points.

Tech and UGA need to dial down their expectations and enjoy what’s there. Tech winning 9 games, maybe can get ten with Chan Gailey. UGA winning SEC titles with Richt but will NEVER be a legitimate national title contender until it can figure out how to beat Florida.

Florida owns UGA. UGA owns Tech. Tech owns … Duke?

How could Taylor Bennett do any worse than Ball?

Coaching decisions and play calling have cost this team all year as in previous years. Until changes are made the song will remain the same.

Keep talking about Kentcuky and Vandy but we beat you and we will end up with a better record playing in the SEC. So kep talking about out losses to Kentucky and Vandy because we beat you remember, so that that shows how bad Tech really sucks.

Patrick Nix and Chan Gailey should be fired. Reggie Ball should be banned from anything remotely affiliated with Georgia Tech. Somebody please tell me how an offense that includes the BEST receiver in college football, a tailback who rushes for 1300 yards, and a four-year starting QB manages 6 points against Wake Forest. I am embarrassed to be a Tech fan right now and I am sick and tired of watching Reggie Ball, a senior “leader”, hang his head every time something doesn’t go his way. But, that reflects back on the coaching staff who allows that garbage to take place. In the end, Reggie will be gone forever next year, but I think there are others who need to accompany him as well.

I’m so thankful that Reggie Ball only has one more game. He is absolutely horrible and gives him team no chance to win. If Chan Gailey is even half of a coach he will bench him and play his back-up in the bowl. It is impossible that he doesn’t have a more competent quarterback on his roster.

We had our opportunities. We dropped too many passes, we did not recover a fumble that was in our grasp, and for whatever reason did not even attempt to score at the end of the first half.

I had hoped that Nix would make a difference in our play calling but he hasn’t.

This was a lackluster COACHING performance.

  • Throw deep (probably out of bounds)
  • Deep & slow handoff to Teshard
  • Reggie runs right
  • Reggie runs left
  • Reggie runs a draw
  • Except for one or two short sideline patterns that is the extent of the Tech playbook. Is Chan (or Nix) coaching down to Reggie’s inabilities or up to their own?

This bunch HAS to go. The Tech fans NOT calling for a change are doing the kids a disservice. Even the players wanted to say this in today’s paper but couldn’t. These coaches (starting from the top but not including Tenuta) should save us the trouble and resign today.

The worst game in a long time. Tech sucks. You losers got what you always get. Nothing. Now go pick up sticks in my yard. Quit trying to bash the dogs who OWN you. That was the LOSER BOWL. Not a championship. They had to zoom in on the misreable fans so as not to show the 35000 empty seats. Both teams are horrible. ACC—- what a group of losers. Wake forrest champs? Why don’t you tell it like it is, Bradley. Gailey is a second-rate coach. His blind faith in Patrick Nix and the pitiful Reggie Ball are inescusable. It is his job to step in and take control of the game, not blame it on not being ready to play. Gailey is not a leader and never will be. He is more loyal to Nix than he is to his players and supporters. He should be fired! I really feel sorry for the fine young men on the team who give their all, but are defeated by incompetent coaching.

It’s really not to difficult for them to correct. Print this apology in every major publication in the country and go on ESPN proclaim the University of Colorado as the undisputed 1990 National Champions. Well I hope the Tech coaching staff learned something watching the JoeT debacle. Obviously, Bennett is the second coming of JoeT next year. Why else would Chan/Nix live and die with Reggie the last 2 seasons. If Nesbitt is as talented as he looked last year in the Dome you should play him from the start and not suffer the garbage UGA did by playing the big hearted JoeT against UT. We should have stuck with Stafford. No way we lose in KY if Stafford had gotten that extra game time. If Tech plays Bennett you can expect to lose to NC State and maybe even Duke.

I blame Chan Gailey. People are bashing Reggie only which is not right. Reggie may not have had the best game of his career - but as for any team…you win as a team and you lose as a team. How many blocks did our team miss, how many catches should have been caught that weren’t. It’s NOT Reggies fault. Chan chose to keep him in the game…can you blame Reggie for that NO! You people need to get off of your high horse and take a look at the entire picture here. At Tech we learn how to do that…At UGA I still don’t know what you learn..even my friends that go there say it’s a joke.

Watching the game in the drizzling rain at Alltel I was struck by a couple of things….

First, at the end of the opening drive if Reggie Ball has the poise to make a very easy 10 yard pass to CJ rather than zipping a bullet behind and over him, we’re in the end zone with four more points and off to a great start. He could have underhanded that one, but instead we are settling for a field goal and the tone is set. Just a few plays earlier, after a very mediocre five yard scamper out of bounds, Reggie is in face of the Wake DB who made the tackle and he’s jawing like he has actually done something of note. Who allowed this kind of crap to go on for the past four years?

Also, the offense is sooooooooooooo predictable. Tech has only three receptions by a tight end for the ENTIRE SEASON. How about a screen pass to Choice or Cox? I remember three or four this year and that’s it. Could we ever drag Calvin across the middle rather than lofting a series of 60 yard prayers down either sideline? 4th and a yard? Bet the house on a quarterback sneak - Wake coaches did, loaded everybody up, and stopped us in the Red Zone. Its little wonder the offense was shut down by Wake and, for that matter, everyone else for the second half of the season.

Taking nothing from Wake, anyone watching the game could only wonder how Tech managed to be on the short end of the score. The fact is that Tech failed at every opportunity to make a play and to turn things their way.

All you people sit on your computers and complain about your pathetic football team. Look Tech didn’t beat anybody all year, they are terrible. The best team they played all year was UGA and they competed with them. You should be proud of that. Notre Dame is crap, and that got yalls false hopes up early in the year. How about quit talking about Georgia fans, and the Georgia Football team. Try this out, GO TO A GAME AND SUPPORT YOUR TEAM. We go to Jacksonville every year and sell the game out, Tickets cost upwards of 500 a ticket. Tech/Wake couldn’t get 30,000 there. No wonder the game was moved from 8 pm, to 1 pm. Nobody cared about that game, nobody cares about the ACC. Luckily for ACC fans they are going to get Louisville for the BCS game instead of a real school like Ohio St, Florida, USC, Michigan, or LSU. Quit complaining and go to a game. Don’t ever argue with a Georgia fan, because you have nothing to back your stupid comments. We have had 3 presidents since TECH beat UGA. Shut up, go back to work for your computer team and be told what to do by your bosses all day, and talk about how terrible of a game that was to watch since none of you went.

Although I am a graduate of Tech (class of ‘67), I must admit that this football season was a major major disapointment. After their loss to Wake, Tech should have been invited to the “Losers Bowl.” All that hype about Calvin Johnson was too much, especially given his poor performance in the Wake game.

    By ACC looked bad yesterday

    December 3, 2006 04:41 PM | Link to this

Yes, Tech stunk it up Saturday. It was awful and the game revealed real problems within the program. But, I fear that the game also revealed significant flaws witin the ACC as well.

CamdenCountyYG has it exactly right…the game was a PR disaster for the ACC. Compare the game in Jacksonville as it appeared on TV to the SEC championship. The Georgia Dome was obviously packed with fans that were excited. Alltel Stadium was as empty as a pre-Christmas bowl game (it looked like the CarQuest bowl or Champs Sports Bowl). So it is obvious to me that the ACC, in placing the game in Jacksonville, assumed that FSU or Miami would be there every year. And when they weren’t, the game disintegrated into a second-tier snooze fest. The game also revealed that in college football not all schools operate on a level playing field. Wake wins and it is viewed as an embaressment for the ACC. A game of Tech versus Wake isn’t considered worth attending because neither team is considered a serious football school. Tech’s problem, besides the obvious coaching and player issues, is that the college football world doesn’t see it as a legitimate football school. Championships are expected from schools like Miami, FSU, VT…when Wake or GT win, it is seen as an embaressment. What a terrible place for Georgia Tech football to find itself.

    By Where's the fan base?

    December 3, 2006 04:48 PM | Link to this

I have been following Tech football for 13 years now, 5 years as a student and now 8 years as an alum. Not being from Georgia originally, it took me a little while to realize that there are really no non-alumni Georgia Tech fans. Travelling through rural Georiga, I’ve seen that there are plenty of non-alumni UGA fans. (And I don’t think its an engineering thing - I went to grad school at Virginia Tech and there are plenty of non-alumni VT fans, although admittedly GT and VT are very different schools) So, I guess what I am asking is, what would it take for Georgia Tech to develop a non-alumni fan base? Until that happens, I don’t see how Georgia Tech ever rises to the first-tier of football programs. Does anyone think that it is possible?

I would not keep throwing the long ball when you have an idiot at the helm like Reggie Ball(less). Chan should have made the move by the NC game at started Taylor Bennett. Charles, are you really that dumb?? Ga over Tech, Fl over Fl St, SC over Clemson. We have teams that aren’t our conference champ invited to a BCS game. If you think Wake would beat LSU, you need to go to a b-ball blog. The ACC championship was an embarassment. It was like watching a high school football game on CSS. Watch the SEC tear through the bowls. I can’t remember the Tech fans name, the one who said to check with him after all the games stated above were over, but here I am. Your conference sucks, Tech lost to UGA, and by the way, has the same amount of losses as UGA! This is our “down season” right? My high school could have won the Coastal Division this year. I can’t wait to see Tech play against West Virginia’s running attack! If you thought Clemson was bad, this should be fun! Happy Holidays, Techmites, and remember this: There are three numbers important to me. My b-day, my social security #, and 15-12. That last number changes every year though! Bye for now geeks, and thank you Reggie, for not dissapointing on Saturday.

I am a proud graduate of both Wake Forest University and the University of Georgia. That being said, I would like to address several topics.

  • For those of you who are unclear about the correct spelling of the school name, it is Wake Forest, not Wake Forrest.

  • Concerning attendance at yesterday’s game: I would like to remind everyone that Wake Forest has only 4000 students. By default, that decreases the number of students and alums who can attend games. Further, it is the final exam period at Wake right now. I am positive every student at Wake was thrilled about the championship game, but every one of those students was also worried about exams and many made the choice to remain on campus to study, a decision for which I’m sure no parents, potential employers, or potential graduate schools would fault them. Attendance at the Orange Bowl will likely be better.

  • While FSU and Miami, and even Virginia Tech, had atypically weak seasons, that should not lessen Wake’s accomplishment in going 11-2 and winning the ACC Championship. After spending 4 years at Wake watching the football team struggle even in years before Va Tech and Miami joined the ACC and in years where FSU also struggled, it is amazing to see what Jim Grobe, his coaching staff, and the players have been able to do this year. Please give them the credit they deserve.

  • While Wake might not return to the ACC Championship, such a great season and championship is not a joke to the students, players, alumni, and fans, and it’s rude for people to make it one. That includes you, fellow Dawg fans and alums. Let us Wake fans enjoy success like we as Georgia fans are enjoying our wins over Auburn and Tech. I don’t like Tech either, but don’t use Wake as a joke to taunt Tech fans—that’s behavior that makes me less than proud to be a Dawg fan.

Well, when Tech fans quit posting on the UGA blog, you will have the right to demand that we quit rubbing in the salt over here.

Troup44, you’re obviously a dullard. Your grasp of numbers indicates that you spent more time at Southern Tech than Georgia Tech.

Georgia was disappointed with the bowl matchup last year after hammering LSU in the championship game, the team did not show up interested and ready to play, and therefore lost to a motivated WV team that had something to prove. After losing the last 2 the way it did, and knowing that the playcalling is bad, the QB is costing you, and that you can’t utilize your best player, Georgia Tech is FAR more probable to show up unmotivated to play in a bowl game than Georgia is.

If I were a Tech fan, I’d wait to make sure that a nonchalant Tech team didn’t get blown out before talking trash about Georgia in a matchup with VT.

Woohoo, time to celebrate the arrival of basketball season, Tech fans!

i’m not really a tech fan, but you hate to see coaches fail there players. i’ve watch tech games since i moved to the city in 2003. you cannot tell me that chan gailey and the offensive coordinator couldn’t recruit one of the top quarterbacks coming out of high school since the Ball era began. What high school kid wouldn’t have wanted to come in and thow to one of the top wide receiver’s in college football. the truth is they made sure they would never have a quarterback controversy by not having a freshmen that would come in and challenge Ball for the starting position. and since gailey and his offensive coordinator bet there football seasons on him suceeding eventually, they should be fired for his ultimate and total failure.

I was at the NC game and was shocked at how poorly our offense played. The poor offensing play at NC was matched by the play at GA and at the ACC championship game. Why do we think that we must throw the ball downfield at least once every series? It is a good play when it connects but what is the probability of a connection versus ther probability of a connection 5-10 yds downfield? Has the offense never heard of taking what the defense gives you? The receivers were open on short routes all day. Having RB throw downfield is not fair to the defense and to the rest of the team. Using looking ahead to the Orange bowl as an excuse for losing to Wake is like telling your math instructor that the reason you failed differential calculus is that you were looking forward to integral calculus. Do that too many times and you will be on teh outside looking in. Iive in Winston-Salem and am aware of teh cinderella season they are having. Wake played better than Tech and deserved to win. I was at tech when Bobby Dodd was coach. I think that if he had a quarterback that went for the bomb and jawed to the other team as much as RB does, there would be another QB, even if one had to be recruited from the stands. Dodd would not have tolerate that.

Other than Tech’s outstanding defense, the only redeemable quality of the game was Tech’s navy blue jerseys. They looked a whole lot better than those awful, ugly mustard yellow things they’ve been wearing…..

So much for Tech’s “Magical” season. Nothing like hearing Dimino talk nonstop for half the season about how great Tech is and how bad UGA sucks.

Nothing like watching Tech choke away the season. What a joke.

How could ANY Georgia High School football player choose Tech over UGA.

Poor Calvin Johnson.. Could you imagine if he would have gone to UGA… With David Greene, DJ Shockley, and Stafford throwing to him? Instead he makes the bonehead decision and goes to Tech and watches Reggie Ball ruin him.

    6-0 gnats.

    hahaha. JustMe…

Where were the mutts on Championship weekend?

How about resting after we beat Tech for the 6th straight year. Pathetic nerds.

Perhaps you forgot that we have won the SEC 2 times in the past 4 years.

Tech would be the 6th or 7th best team in the SEC.

    ACC is a joke.

For 4 years, I have minimized my frustrations with this program. Here is an issue that has been hinted at that I want to hit head on. As the Head Coach (or if you run a business), you have many responsibilities but none are any more important than as Jim Collins says in his book “Good to Great”, to put the right people in the right seat of the bus. To carry this a step further, I add that there is a seat for everyone on a bus; it just may not be this one.
When you put those two statements together, and then evaluate where we are in this program or better yet where we could be, how should we rate Chan Gailey? By and large, even though many of my fellow alumni (including myself) are not big fans of his, outside of the QB position, he has built a decent program. We may not be as deep at every position as many schools, but we do have great talent in most positions.
So where does this leave us with Reggie Ball? I can imagine that he is a decent person. I can tell that he is trying to do the right thing when he is on the field. It hurts him when he fails. The reality is this; Reggie is no further along as a 4 year starter as he was as a freshman. Instead of 4 years of experience, he really has 1 year four times over. He should be a scat back, not a QB. It has become evident that there has been more fear in his eyes this year than ever before. He is pressing way too hard which causes mistakes and mistakes is what he has been making. The team is deteriorating around him! Even the easiest going super star that I have ever seen, Calvin Johnson, has been showing his frustration and disappointment the last few games.
To go back to our Head Coach, he is failing in his job to the team every time that he does not prepare Tyler Bennett and allow him to play when Reggie’s limited skills show up. What about next year. There were plenty of opportunities for Tyler to get some real game experience but they were not allowed. Remember, put the right people in the right seat of the bus……………… At this point, there are not many GT Alumni that believe that we will have anything but a loss against anyone we play with Reggie as the QB. For this reason alone, do not expect GT people to flock to the bowl game. After all, we deal with having to make decisions everyday and weighing their benefit. In this team’s present condition with a QB that is many games past is prime that never really came, a coach that cannot make the hard decision on where the right players should be (Steve Spurrier does not have that issue, nor does Mark Richt), a defense that has to blitz to make big plays at high risk (Clemson game) to make something happen so they will have a cushion since they will be on the field most of the time, where is the benefit? No benefit……….. we will go elsewhere.
I can only hope that our new AD will develop Gailey into a leader or he will do the right thing……………….. As for the bowl game, if Reggie starts, Gailey will leave him in for the entire game. If this is the case, then the Reggie Ball Era will finally be over (an 0 – 11 team will be better next year than another painful game with Reggie at QB) and for Chan Gailey, maybe he really is not management nor Head Coach material (which seat really is his?). After all, the Dallas Cowboy fans still hate him!

I agree with Pat’s comments, except that this season is more difficult to sit through than an 0-11 season. I was at Tech in 1994 when the football team was 1-10. That was awful in a way that this is certainly not. Although from what I remember, almost nobody sat through 1994’s 1-10 season - they all left well before the 4th quarter.

Charles De Gaulle stated that to govern is to choose, often between two unpleasant choices. Management and coaching are probably the same. If the decision to replace Reggie Ball had no negative consequences, anyone could make it. Gailey gets the big bucks because he has to make such hard choices.

    I hate Tech.

I hate UGA fans that make us look silly. So many of the comments in here come from people who never attended, much less graduated from UGA, which by the way is a pretty good school. I’d suggest that most of our graduates and supporters have better things to do.

There are some bad postings from the Techies but the UGA postings are at an all-time low. We won the game but given wh we beat it’s not worth the embarrassment these postings are causing. Neither team is worth the trouble.

All you smartass UGA renecks, Tech has a good team with a GREAT defense. You only scored one offensive touchdown. Take away the two interceps and the fumble recovery (when the ball was puuled out from under a down player laying in a pile) Tech wins. Take away Reggie Ball, Tech wins and would have been ACC champs going to the Orange Bowl. Our fans don’t want to see Reggie (15-51 0 td 4 int) Ball-less. The paper says Chan may being playing Taylor Bennett in the Gator Bowl. Well gee thanks COACH! What has everyone including our one defense been screaming for. HE SUX! Burn his Jersey!

Hey even as much a train wreck that Reggie has been, he still gives us our best shot at winning. If Taylor Bennett was worth a damn he would have already been playing. So we have a senior quarterback that melts down and NO quarterback going into next year….kinda scarey!!!

Ahhhhh yes….. So you’re gonna be playing WV in the Gator Bowl. I can’t wait… There were so many Tech fans on the blogs last year that boasted on how Slaton and co. handed us our a**es in the Sugar Bowl. In case you forgot, they beat us by 3 points. You’ll be lucky to stay within 3 TDs of WV with that vaunted offense of yours and masterful coaching staff. Who wouldn’t be excited to see this game for Reggie’s swan song? Ok, I’m gonna stop before I pass out from laughing too hard!!! LMAO!!!!!

Easy to bash Reggie. I would suggest the main problem is elsewhere - Coach Gailey and the offensive staff. They have permitted Ball’s behavior for four years - they have not shut down the trash talking; they have not stopped the on-field criticism by Ball of teammates; they have created the player with the disruptive attitude that now exists. In a sense Ball holds Gailey and the other coaches hostage. They are apparently reluctant to be firm with him for fear that he’ll “shut-down” and they don’t feel they have an adequate back-up. Whose fault is that?!

In addition I don’t think there’s much good to say about an offensive scheme that:

  • Doesn’t use it’s tight end to balance the passing game

  • Doesn’t occasionally use it’s fullback for running plays.

  • Doesn’t run the fullback or halfback out of the backfield into the flat on some pass plays(Did that effectively one game but haven’t come back to it)

  • Apparently doesn’t have a “hot” outlet on blitzes

  • Doesn’t have an effective short yardage play (except to throw long and hope for pass interference!)

  • Has not developed (in 3 years!) an adequate backup (in the minds of the coaches) to replace a struggling QB.

  • It is a dis-service to the players who have worked so hard to have a successful season to have coaches making millions of dollars compromise the players efforts.

An article this week in USA Today indicated that an incentive clause in Coach Gailey’s contract gives him an extra $25,000 for a bowl appearance -reasonable relative to other contracts. If I understand correctly, the incentive also gives Gailey a year’s extension on his contract. That would be worth about $1M. That sure doesn’t seem appropriate for what has happened this year. But I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what Dave Braine put in the contract. What a guy! If I’ve interpreted the article incorrectly, i welcome someone correcting me.

Reggie Ball is nothing but a punk kid. I couldn’t help but see him run his mouth to the WF defensive players. He needs to keep his mouth shut and try to hit a receiver every now and then and quit running out of bounds everytime he gets some pressure put on him. I hope Chan pulls him in the bowl game. Speaking of Chan…he and his staff didn’t exactly do a stellar job of play calling either.

I’m so glad Reggie is done. I’m sick of him making poor decisions. His whole college career was based on “potential” that never came true. We have 2 good QBs coming in next year in Nesbitt and Threet, and I really hope Chan uses the Gator Bowl to really see what Bennett can do. It seems like most years we either have a very good defense or a very good offense, but we have trouble putting the two together. If the Jackets would’ve had a good QB this year, I’m not so sure we would have lost a game.

I understand that Wake Forest’s QB- Riley Skinner - father and grandfather played athletics at GT. Riley asked to walk-on at GT but was not given any encouragement by the Tech coaching staff. Believe he was ACC Rookie-of-the-Year this year and sure took care of us in the ACC Championship game. Seems like he would have been a good alternative to what we have.

I was there. Chan Gailey’s loss to Georgia cost the ACC championship game a full house in Jax. The loss to Wake cost the Gator Bowl a full house by having Tech back( very few of us are going now or in the future as long as Chan is coach). It may take another year, two at the most, but the financial loss will hurt Tech so much that they will be forced to listen to the alumni. If 5 years is not enough, how many are needed. He is costing the ACC big time financially and will continue as long as he is coach. Do not agree? Just ask the Gator Bowl and other coaches around the ACC. I did!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
