Bring on the Bulldogs

Georgia Tech didn’t have to exert itself too much Saturday in a 49-21 rout of winless Duke in the last home game of the season for the Yellow Jackets.

Reggie Ball, Calvin Johnson and other Tech regulars got the second half off on Senior Day. Coming up Saturday: Another date with the Georgia Bulldogs in Athens.

Do you think the Jackets are ready, given the weak opposition they’ve faced the last two weeks? What areas concern you the most? What does Tech have to do to beat Georgia and gain momentum for the ACC championship game in two weeks’ time?

Bring on the punks from Athens, we are ready as we will ever be. I hate UGA and all those damn red neck fans!!!!!! We may not kick their butts but we want to take the field and decide it there. We are a helluva lot better team than Kentucky and Vandy, so strap it on boys and let’s get ready to rumble!!!!

I think our boys will be just fine. My birthday is Nov. 23, and the one thing I want most is a win in Athens on Saturday afternoon.

GO Jackets!!!!!!

I want more than a win…I want the Jackets to rain down total and utter humiliation onto those rednecks. I want this one to hurt for a LONG time.

The formula is simple: Throw CJ the ball NO MATTER WHAT THE COVERAGE.

The only way Tech loses this game is to let the Dawgs convince the Jackets NOT to throw the ball to Johnson even if double-covered.

Three things concern me about Tech. One, they still miss way too many tackles. Two, Reggie still makes way too many bad decisions. Finally, our kick-off and punt return teams simply suck. If Durant Brooks were not such a great punter, we probably would have given up some touchdowns on the punt team too. With that said, I think Tech should have a great day in Athens. UGA will think they are world beaters after their Auburn game and forget that they have some serious problems on offense. Go Jackets! To Hell with Georgia!

I agree with Paul…The only way to beat those hated rednecks is to play TEAM ball, and get it to Calvin as many times as possible. Calvin has had “coming out” games against other competition, but I need him to get the ball no matter what…BOTTOM LINE. Also, if Calvin gets doubled/tripled teamed James Johnson should have a BIG impact as well. I read on a UGA blog the other day that said something like this…”We(UGA) are going to try and send a message to Calvin on why he didn’t choose UGA.”, or someting like that, but anyway, Those to me sound like fightin’ words. BRING IT MUTTS!!!! You couldn’t STOP Calvin if you tried.

Tech fans sound suprisingly confident for a team that has lost its last 5 vs. UGA and has won only 8 of the last 30 vs. the more dominant team of this state.

I think Tech loses in typical Tech fashion. Yeah I know we have a “Tech-like record” so far this year, but I gurantee a UGA victory over the NATS.

So quit pounding your “I went to TECH and I’m the greastest thing since sliced bread because my Mommy and Daddy told me so” chest and prepare for another year of frusturation.

Dogs will bring more heat and passion to the game than we’ve seen since maybe VT. While we are capable of fielding a team that can beat the dogs, I’m not going to eat crow for five years straight. I went through high school watching the Jackets beat the dogs and haven’t seen it in my 4 yrs at Tech (so far).

If (this is a big ‘if’) for some reason we manage to take a big lead early, then I agree with Paul. Show no mercy. I don’t care if we are leading by 60, I want a total and utter annihilation of this UGA squad. Throw down-field to Calvin, go for two-point conversions and fourth downs and leave 100% on the field until the last second ticks off. Leave nothing unanswered.

Go Jackets! Beat the dogs!

Our interstellar galactic overdrive team will surely dispose of those wretched hounds come next week. I figured it all out on my Commodore 64.

Reggie Ball will do for Georgia Tech what Steve Jobs has done for Apple. I see the future clearly with the Zoltar. My mom bought it for the last Christmas after we watched Big together for the 23rd & 1/2 time. I count the half time, because technically I watched 36 minutes of it before falling asleep on the couch, but then awoke from peeing myself in my sleep… but I was so warm, I watched the last ten minutes… so, technically, I did watch half of it.

Well, I gotta run now and play with my PlayStation 3. Rumor has it some of these games will actually let me see some boobies if I hack it the right way.

I wish I knew how to end this post, because I am not certain if our official mascot is of the Vespula species, Vespa species or Dolichovespula species.

Either way, we’ll win by 3 home runs. I guarantee it.

You know what’s funny?

The Bugs like to call us rednecks, when there are far more successful, wealthy, and educated individuals who’ve graduated from Georgia then the Bugs could count. Lawyers, Doctors, Teachers, Masters of Business, Slayers of Wall Street.

Yet they find it cute to call us all rednecks.

But the really funny thing is… while that particular stereotype is not true, the stereotypical Bug graduate is just how we think they are.

Largely lacking any kind of social skills, they find it easier to work with machines than human beings. They have large, drawn-out arguements about the validity of Star Wars and can speak Klingon.

And they secretly know they are the red-headed step-children in this state, and define their own self-worth by embracing such platitudes that those of us who graduated from Georgia are just a bunch of dumb rednecks.

Silly little Bugs.

And you all watch. They will all be so incensed that they can’t help but call me dumb, redneck, or whatever.

Silly little Bugs. This is why I don’t hire Tech Grads, even from their business school, to work in my office. They have no social skills and don’t play well with others. And my new IT guy? From DeVry. And much better than my old IT guy… a Bug.

The guy from DeVry is a normal, well-adjusted human being. Not so much the Bug.

And yes, Bugs, just like the WarTigers from last week, we will enjoy your silence next week as you will not have the balls to show up on the blogs after Thuggie Ball gives the game away yet again.

Funny how none of the Dog fans on this blog really want to talk about football.

The record the last five years or the last 30 years doesn’t really mean much to the two teams that will play this Saturday.

Tech is the better team in virtually every phase of the game and should win by a touchdown.

The key to the game will be turnovers. If Tech gives Georgia easy scoring opportunities with fumbles or interceptions, it won’t matter how well the Jackets’ D or offense plays. The one area where Georgia has a clear advantage is in their return game. As long as Tech takes care of the ball and doesn’t give up too many return yards, Georgia walks out with their fifth loss of the year.

Tech should win because honestly they have a beter team this year, but unfortunately for them they won’t.

Two reasons why:

1.) They simply REFUSE to throw Calvin Johnson (the best receiver in all of college football) the ball in big games (see loss to ND and Clemson). Its like they forget that the 6’5 230 lb. Johnson is on the field. I watched awestruck as Chan and the boys NEVER even looked his way in the second half of the ND game.

2.) REGGIE BALL. Face it Tech fans, he just doesnt win BIG TIME games, especially against UGA (see 2005, 2004, 2003). Sorry, but Tech won’t beat UGA. They should, but it aint gonna happen.

You would think that the citizens of Georgia would sue the NCAA for allowing this farce to take place.

You would think that the citizens of Georgia would have enough concern about the academic achievements of their state institutions to say “hold, enough!” until both schools prove that they can indeed educate their athletes instead of using them up without compensation, then discarding them without a degree. Shameful!

As far as being a yeller jacket, you are right. When I was a kid I even slept in my Pepper Power shirt. But actually I started college at Georgia. Weird huh? I made three A’s, seriously, and left. Too easy. Then I went and got my CS degree. I actually do make six figures now. I sometimes scan blogs for the light entertainment. But good gosh, some people really take this stuff seriously. This is only the third blog on which I have ever posted. Anyhow, as far as figuring out how to use italics, let me summarize it for you - you just have to know how to read, like, instructions and stuff. Have a good one. Oh, this game does make me nervous. I absolutely cannot wait to kick your little bug arses next Saturday in Athens. And trust me its going to happen. Any idiot who knows anything about football could see that UGA had some growing pains to go through this year. Our team is young in many critical positions. But the tide has turned, the lights came on at Auburn and that’s offensively and defensively. I am going to get a kick out of watching an SEC east team, that has struggled to grow up this year, kick the dog squeeze out of a team that is going to the ACC championship game. Listen Techmites, yeah you’re going to the ACC championship game in one of the weakest years the ACC has seen in years and it was already weak. I mean come on!! Miami, FSU, VT have all had horrible years by their standards. For the sake of Gawd, you could end up playing WF for the ACC title. That enough explains how weak the ACC is this year. So go ahead and pound your chests. Oh wait you geeks don’t have chest. Go ahead and pound your protractor on your desk for now because on Saturday we are going to pound you bugs into submission. Like squashing a bug on a sidewalk. Reggie once again will wet himself. Reggie, meet Mr. Moses, Mr. Johnson, Mr. Owens and Mr. Gant. Have a nice day.

Beating Auburn was a fluke…you are the team who lost to Dandy Vandy and the Kentucky p*** cats…As for Auburn, you KNOW they lost the game…how can a team win a game if the QB throws as many INTs as completed passes? Come on…get real here, guys…our win will undo your win vs. Auburn and will bring a sour end to a ‘glorious’ season for your university…don’t worry, basketball is around the corner (and, unfortunately, we will BEAT you as well)….see you in Athens…I will be the first one putting our glorious GT flag in the middle of Samford stadium and on top of the G logo, because we will OWN you (and you know it)

Tech’s season is this game. An ACC championship or an Orange Bowl win pale in comparison to beating Georgia. All sorts of wonderful things can be said about Chan Gailey but the bottom line is if he can’t beat Georgia, he needs to go.

Georgia has a great advantage in that they recruit much greater talent than Tech. However, as we have seen this year with the worthless Mutts, talent doesn’t guarantee anything.

Football is won or lost on the line. However, “Playmakers” can lose games for you. Tech has a good enough offensive line to win and a better defensive line line than Georgia’s offensive bunch. However, Reggie is inconsistent and can very well throw the game away if he gets “happy feet” regardless of what Calvin can do.

I have found actual graduates of UGA to be relatively intelligent about discussing football - even the Tech-UGAG version. It is the redneck, fair weather contingent of Bull Mutt “Nation” that cannot debate with any degree of intelligence. I obviously will have to change my view of this in light of BirdDawg’s post. What an absolute moron.

Reggie doesn’t beat any big opponents? How about Auburn two of the past three years? What about Miami last year? How about Clemson two years ago? Virginia Tech on the road this year? Reggie beats big opponents. The thing I’m most worried about is that he usually has poor games against inferior opponents.

Another genius is born. Wonder how many losses we had this year cause Stafford did the same thing?

Quick! Go get your calcuator and see!

With all of my Dawg brethren talking about sex with their sisters ,its getting me h-rny.But I draw the line with 1st cousins-they are hotter and want it more.It puts a different meaning on “tail-gating” UGA style. Our guys are ready for the bugs—we only have to do 3 things-Keep the breath test under .10, steal only team-mates cars, and dont hit the girl-friend with a closed fist.Even a one game suspension would hurt this week!

Hey Matt - What oil do you recommend for a ‘98 Chevy? What’s the best lottery ticket I can buy for $5? Who does your boss, Mohammed, think will win the Tech / GA game? Why didn’t they rename the store after it stayed open pass 11?

I AM A TECH FAN—-HAVING SAID THAT GEORGIA WILL WIN SATURDAY——WHY BECAUSE GEORGIA’S BEST PLAYER IS REGGIE BALL. BALL WILL LOSE THE GAME FOR TECH. TECH HAS ONE CHANCE AND THAT IS IF GEORGIA KNOCKS REGGIE OUT OF THE GAME EARLY SO BENNETT GETS A CHANCE TO PLAY.

Georgia will win on November 25th, but Tech will brush it off by claiming a) they still have the ACC Championship to look forward to, b) somebody somewhere will have cheated them out of the win, c) Tech lost, Georgia didn’t win it, or d) all of the above. Rather than accept fate, they’ll rationalize it to fit their own mishapen perception of reality. That’s the same reality that tells them they’re smarter than Georgia, more deserving than Georgia, and altogether better bred than Georgia… and that’s the type of lies serial killers tell themselves to be convinced that they’re normal.

Have fun weeping, gnats. You won’t win next week, and BC will obliterate you in the ACC Championship game.

Oh Matt…remind me…since I don’t keep up with UGA football much…who did you lose to this year? Was it Vanderbilt? Or was it Kentucky?

What???

Really…you lost to both of them…in football?

haha

That’s like losing to Duke and UNC in the weak ACC…speaking of the weak ACC…how about you go count the number of SEC teams in this week’s AP Top 25, and if you can count on more than one hand, count the number of ACC teams, too!

What happens if the hedges and the Dawgs beat tech? All the smacking talking Techsters will feel so stupid for running that mouth. You sure crow about your strengths and when you have a good year. Act like you have been there before. Better be thinking bout the long ball Auburn forgot about. Lumpkins got a lot to prove. Please come to the game so you can feel how a real stadium rocks. Remember Amelia Island Mike said that youd be suprised as to how loud its going to be. Oh . and its senior day. Watch how seriously senior day is. Think Gayly would start a senior (at least for a play) over the hot hand ? You Atlantans make fun of Richt but you really envy his won loss record. If you are the better team better get Him this year , Youll really envy Richts road record. Get back in the lab UGA is going all out. They are treating like the bowl. I cant wait to here GaYlY whine next year with newbys at qb and Cal-gone

Tech shouldn’t use roughing up a poor Duke team as any kind of barometer for next week’s matchup in Athens.

After all, the Dawgs played my Commodores a lot closer than Duke did.

techie- I think Tech’s flag boy and 8 wins in 30 years against the Dawgs are much more entertaining than your sophomoric load of crap. Shows a lot of class to rip on David Pollack, given his recent neck injury. What about Reuben Houston and the frickin AlQaeda operative living on campus?

By gdawg

November 19, 2006 05:50 PM | Link to this

techie- nice comments on David Pollack, you are truly a man of no class. I like the 15 of 17 to UF comment- isnt GA 15-3 in the last 18 meetings with Tech and aren’t we your biggest rival? why not quit with the ridiculous banter and discuss some head to head stats- 22 out of the last 30? 20+ game lead overall in the series. GA owns Tech on the field and all you can come up is some sophmoric crap that means nothing as far as football is concerned? For the record, Tech’s flag boy, Reuben Houston and the Al Qaeda student are much more amusing than your juvenile attempts at humor

I absolutely love the way nerds keep bringing up losing to Vandy & UK. Yea, that sucked, but just think how you are going to feel when the Dawgs beat you after we lost to Vandy & UK. Out of the top 25 that’s for sure. I wish the Dawgs would put another tail kicking on you guys, but they won’t. However, they still win 31-28. Dawgs will end up the year after the bowl game in the top 20 at 9-4 and Tech will be out of the top 25(again) with a 9-5.

Oh and this will be the best it gets because it’s all down hill for your football team after this year.
