Gailey’s deal: Agree or disagree?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
It’s been exactly one year since Georgia Tech’s athletics board approved a new contract for Chan Gailey. Some 12 months later, has your opinion about that decision changed, for better or worse?

The correct decision was made. Recruiting is the evidence.

I had continually told my other GT friends that this was the year to judge coach Gailey on. This team is all his recruits and he had a solid stable staff that allowed him to step back from play calling duties to more of a big picture role. He has done a good job and I am confident he will continue to improve the program. He is a good man that has been successful at all levels of football coaching and that is an attractive thing to players and parents.

I’ll admit to being a Gailey basher, but it’s hard to argue with the on-field and off-field results.
On the field we are headed to a 10-2 or 9-3 regular season with an appearance in the Conference Championship and a potential appearance in a BCS bowl.
I agree with cltgtfan, I think a big key has been his willingness to let go of the play calling. I still think he puts Nix in a “box” on what he can call during a particular game. And I have no doubt that it’s Gailey’s decision when to “call off the dogs” on offense and go conservative on a lead. The second half of the UVA game this year was the most boring half of football I’ve ever watched because we reeled it in at halftime.
Off the field, there have been no embarrassments from the players and our recruiting is drawing rave reviews from the recruiting pundits.

Very happy to have Coach Gailey. I am convinced he is the right man for the job. Check out the incoming recruiting class!!

He still can’t consistently motivate his players.
No team had scored less than 21 points on UNC until Chan’s.
He still has to beat UGA, as he said he would when he took the job.
If we end this season with three straight losses (Mutts, ACCCG, Bowl), this will not be a good season, no matter what any Hiver spins to you.

How do you know that the team wasn’t motivated against UNC? The defense tackled very well and seemed to play aggressive, holding UNC to 211 yards.
Reggie was completely off that day, pure and simple. He had WRs open downfield many times but just couldn’t hit them. If he made just a small percentage of those throws, Saturday would have been a much different story.

Gailey’s Garbage. Reggie Sucks. Calvin wishes he had gone to Georgia. Your mascot sucks. Your school is full of al-quada. The back of UGA’s a** looks better then 98.9 % of your women. Yeah you MAY beat UGA this year. But this will be the only time in the next six years you will do so. I salute the true champions in 1990……Colorado. Keith Brooking is so overrated.
